Yuri is so great! Every time we have come he helps us out with anything we need! To be point where we come more often than not and we always come to him for all of our engraving needs! We have even had the help of Julia who was also just as sweet and very helpful. Today we were able to get something done that will be so unique and we are so excited about it! She helped us by going above and beyond in her service by even showing us different examples on the computer for what we wanted. The price they charge is always fair and never over the top which we can appreciate especially these days where everything is marked up by inflation! Thank you for all the wonderful work you do! read more

Yuri and Julia did an amazing job laser engraving my shoes with our wedding logo. These are expensive shoes (red bottoms), and Yuri handled them with great care, making sure to contact me to ensure he had the logo placement, size and angle correct. I created an image and wanted to get it laser engraved onto a Stanley stainless steel canteen. I inquired about the process through yelp. The process wasn't as straight forward as I thought it would be, but Yuri and Julia were great at guiding me through the it. Before item is laser engraved I was sent a proof of where the image would go on the canteen. The product turned out perfect and the price was beyond reasonable. I went to Aardvark engraving to get a personalized engraving on a wood urn I got that meant a lot to me, so I was a bit nervous about wanting it to look great. Yuri at Aardvark engraving was really nice and personable and took my project serious even though it was a small job. He followed through and did an excellent job and was very friendly through the whole process. I couldn't be happier with how it came out and I have no need to get engraving done anywhere else if I need it again. read more

I'm the president of a club volleyball team and needed a plaque engraved last minute for a tournament I was hosting. Yuri was super helpful the whole way through. He showed me all of my options (and was patient with my indecisiveness). I came in with the wrong logo file type, and he was helpful with getting it converted. My order got done really quickly, and he called to make sure that the final design looked good before putting it in the engraving machine. I will definitely be back to get things engraved for the team's future events read more

What do you do when you have two sets of keys for a bathroom shared by 90 students? You end up replacing them several times because apparently everyone loses the keys in a rush to take care of their business! Solution? Attach that key to something really heavy. What do you do when people still lose keys after attaching it to something heavy? Attach the key to something the students will care about. How about a motivational quote engraved onto a block of wood? Perfect! Got the wood. But where in the world do I get it engraved? 1. Go to yelp. 2. Meet Yuri 3. Leave happy I brought in a motivational quote and two blocks of wood and they were able to do the deed beautifully! Since I didn't have a mock up or something to show them, I left the wood and the design in their hands. I walked out with a range of cost. They could have easily charged me the higher end of that range. When I came to pick it up, Yuri let me know it was an easier job with anticipated and it even cost less than what they quoted me. Honesty goes a long way! Go to these guys for anything you need engraved! read more

Brought in a fantasy football trophy. 5-7 days was the estimate and it was ready in 5 days. Excellent work!

I uploaded two pictures (the ones that say "Galaxies and lifetimes") of an engraving done somewhere else, and done at Aardvark. They're the ones that say "Galaxies and lifetimes". I'm a perfectionist, and was working on a music box to propose to my (now) fiancée. I went to the other popular yelp engraving shop first - they emailed me three options (all with mistakes), I picked a design, and a few days later, got my plate. I hated it. With less than two days to go, as a desperate last shot, I stopped by Yuri's place to see if there was anything we could do. He dropped everything he was doing and pulled me around behind his desk where he let me have direct input on his design software, and poured over tiny, half-decimal font size changes, even printing demos, until we got it perfect. Then he pulled me into the back of the shop and I watched him do the engraving right there. He probably charged me about half of what he deserved, and when I realized I needed to make a small correction the next day, he did it same-day - for free. On top of this, Yuri is also just a really nice guy and I enjoyed nerding out with him about retro video games. I really don't have enough positive things to say. I'm bummed that I can't rate higher than 5 stars, but I was thrilled to have him play such an key role in my proposal. Obrigado, Yuri! read more

Best trophy and awards shop in the Bay Area. Excellent service, quick turn around and affordable!

I wanted to personalize some KeepCups and after doing a bit of research, Aardvark seemed like the most reasonably priced, flexible option for 3 items. I am really glad I went here- my holiday gifts came out great and the service was excellent. The process was easy- they gave me a quote over Yelp, I came in to drop off the cups and choose fonts, and picked up my cups a week or two later. Julia gave me great font suggestions and general advice. I will definitely come back here if I ever need to do something similar in the future. read more

Tired of getting lame wedding party gifts for at the weddings I've been in, I decided when it was my turn to get married, I'd give my guys something cool: a 5" blade stainless steel folding engraved pocket knife. After looking at a couple other small shops for engravering, Aardvark had the most competitive prices, and seemed genuinely interested in my design idea. They met the tough deadline, since I, of course, waited until the last minute to bring them the 8 pocket knifes I needed engraved. Yuri (the main engraver) is the man! read more

When I walked Ito this little place it was very quite and nicely lit. The worker, even though busy with another client on the phone, subtly greeted me. After he was done he got up and greeted me again. He was very nice and very helpful. I needed to get a zippo lighter engraved in a very particular way. He was very patient with me. He showed me font designs and explained to me his designs too. He explained the process and gave me his email so I could send my design. After a few emails back and forth i went in for a final over look and he had the engraving done right in front of me. He did a greater job than I even hoped for. Great service. Great price. Great outcome. Everything you can ask and hope for as a customer. read more

I have been frequenting Aardvark Laser Engraving for many many years! Each and every time that I go in to this establishment I come out with the quality results! I have had award plaques made from here and recognition trophies made. They have all been exceptional! One year I took a few items that almost seemed impossible to have made...engraving on a sword. Yuri was able to make this possible. When I place an order he emails me back of rough draft prior to execution from what I provide to him. He informs me of how long an item will take and if I need it quicker than the quoted time Yuri always accommodates me with no issues. The prices in my eyes are very reasonable. I mean if you want quality do not expect to pay anything cheap. For the products and the services they offer here it is well worth the time and the money. Yuri and Julia are outstanding and it is so refreshing to have a custom engraving shop right in the heart of Oakland. They are always welcoming and accommodating and they will turn whatever ideas you have into reality and you will not be sorry! Keep up the great work Yuri! read more

Caution Caution Beware! I needed some medals and ribbons for an event in 4 days. Nothing extravagant..... ribbons! They used it as an opportunity to over price. Typically, ribbons are 0.50 each.... compared to $2.00 - $4.00 they charge. Mind you, these were not top notch ribbons some were pulled out the junk drawer full of dust and stains. Clearly, they had these ribbons unsold for awhile and now decided to take advantage of a would be regular customer. (too bad for them-never again). read more

I had a small job with brass plaques-- good value, excellent quality. Fast turnaround.

My daughter, 17, saved up for weeks to spend all her money to buy her boyfriend a watch for his 18th birthday. She took it to Aardvark Laser Engraving. The woman told her it would be $50 for a one word, three letter inscription. The woman encouraged my daughter to spend an additional $50, on "insurance," which my daughter declined. She borrowed the $50 for the engraving from me, promising to pay me back as soon as she was paid (she works full time this summer.). We went to pick up the watch today. I waited in the car. I could see from my car that she was just standing at the counter, turning the watch over and looking at it. Parked in a bus stop, I turned on the hazards and went in. The woman had handed my daughter a bent paper clip with a part of a cotton swab dipped on rubbing alcohol, and had told her to clean something from the watch. I said I would park and return. When I returned, the woman was standing at the counter telling my daughter that there was nothing wrong with the watch. My daughter said there was paste on the watch that hadn't been cleaned off, and a scratch on the leather band. The woman denied having done anything to damage the watch. There was paste on the watch. The woman's solution was to have the customer clean it off. There was a scratch on the leather. It was not there when the watch was submitted for engraving. I told the woman she needed to pay for the damage to the watch. She denied causing the damage. I offered to give the woman my phone number if she wanted to discuss the issue further. The woman finally said to us, "Just get out. Get out. I hope your daughter doesn't grow up to be like you. If she does, nobody will like her." In the car, my daughter burst into tears. She worked for two weeks to afford the watch. It no longer looks new. She told me in the car that when she went in the shop, the woman had already boxed and bagged the watch, and kept saying "all good, right?" And words to that effect to discourage her from looking at the engraving work before leaving the premises. Thankfully, my daughter did look. The quality of the engraving is sad. It is way off center. My daughter didn't care about the poor quality of the engraving, but she was very disappointed that the watch was damaged. We were both shocked that the woman tried to pull a fast one and cover it up. I think this woman tried to take advantage of my daughter's age and inexperience. I'm grateful she didn't just scurry away, that she stood up for herself. Having no experience with being conned before, my daughter said that if I hadn't been there, she wouldn't have known what to do. The woman just kept denying what she had done. This establishment is unethical and they do poor quality work. But they make up for it by hurling personal insults at their customers. Not recommended. read more

A lifesaver! Great Price, AMAZING customer service, awesome quality product (engraving). The Story: I had the unfortunately dilemma of not getting my groomsmen gifts (carbon fiber money clips) shipped to be on time, finally getting them 2 days before my wedding. PROBLEM- at 4pm the Thursday before my wedding I still needed them engraved. I called a bunch of places who gave my crazy prices and ridiculous timelines. Yuri and Julia were amazing! I dropped it off and within 24 hours they had 10 uniquely engraved money clips ready to go. They were gracious and very accommodating. Thanks Julia and Yuri. I would recommend Aardvark Laser Engraving to everyone! read more

It's not often that I give five-star reviews. I'm not a harsh, curmudgeon-y kind of a guy. No, not at all. There's a place for everything, and when one hands out five stars like they're crabs or NYC bed bugs, one only enables rampant mediocrity. But, like most other Yelpers, I have to agree that Aardvark is probably as good as it gets. Woohoo! As part of an inside joke between friends, and as part of a birthday wish, I needed to have a nice business card holder engraved with some pretty darn witty quotes. My friend's 40th was quickly approaching and I needed to turn this around fast. Since the quotes were as long as the Titanic (and as drawn out as the movie named after it), it wasn't going to be cheap. I searched for a number of places here, in NYC, and in Long Beach. Aardvark, actually turned out to be the best choice. They were easy to contact by phone and email. Their store hours were amenable to having people come after work. Yuri and Julia were a pleasure to talk to: funny, honest, upfront. Before they proceeded with the work, they even emailed me a PDF mock-up of the final product for my approval. All this for a very reasonable quote. I just picked up the final product today, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Folks, this project wasn't easy because of all the words I had to fit on the card holder, but Yuri pulled it off without a glitch. If you don't already have a product you want to engrave, or an idea about the layout, but want to give your loved one something personalized, come in anyway. Aardvark has a really nice selection of items and a gallery of some ideas that'll inspire you. read more

There are not enough words to describe how fantastic Yuri and Aardvark are. I placed an order on somewhat short notice but Yuri made the entire process seamless. I'll admit I haven't done a lot of shopping for engraving services so I don't know what kind of prices are out there. But I do know great service when I see it and Aardvark Laser Engraving has it. I called the shop with some initial questions and the gentleman who answered, Yuri, was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. When I arrived with my item to be engraved, I fully expected to just drop it off and come back for it in a day or two, but when Yuri said he could knock it out while I waited I was flabbergasted! He went about his work quietly and intently, taking the time to make sure everything was aligned just right before pulling the trigger on the laser engraving machine. In a few seconds, the job was done and the result was phenomenal! I will be returning to Aardvark Laser Engraving for all my future engraving needs. And now that I know how easy and affordable it can be, there will most definitely be more engraving in my future. read more

A halcyon haven of all things accomplished, this trophy-filled store of inspiration makes you want to find people worth celebrating just so you can return and order more. The shopkeepers, Yuriy and a very helpful woman whose name I didn't jot down (but was an absolute gem), made the experience of selecting a trophy and having the plate engraved a cakewalk. I needed just one trophy for a supremely random event within a few days, and they were amenable to my needs. A little more pricey than I imagined, but then again, what isn't these days? I was happy to pay for getting exactly what I wanted. And the delighted look on my friend's face when I presented the trophy? Not to sound cheesy, but that was priceless. read more
