This is a small Indian market located next to the CVS off of East Main Street. It sells a wide variety of foods, spices, desserts, relishes, snacks, cookies, drinks, teas, rice, etc. It also sells prepared meals and desserts as well as naan which is out of this world. You get a much better deal here than Saffron if you want Indian food. You can get a main dish to go, mostly vegetarian, for 3.99, then dessert, it still is cheaper than the lunch buffet as Saffron, let alone dinner! I love a wide variety if Indian dishes, and am quickly becoming addicted to this store! This place takes both cash and credit card, and is open every day of the week, except one Saturday a month. If you can't find a spot in their little parking lot, there's plenty of parking at the CVS across the street! read more

People here are very kind. The store has a wide selection of herbs and spices. There are delicious snacks made from healthy ingredients and so tasty ready at the end of the workday. There are all kinds of rice... including one which has a lower glycemic index so diabetics who love rice might have small servings of that. If you love Indian food, you will find what you need here to make it, or, to buy it ready prepared, hand-made, in the cooler section. There are sweets and treats and also cooking tools. When I lived down the street, this was my go-to grocery store. The proprietors are very kind and were always willing to explain anything I didn't understand about preparing food I bought there. The real star: the prepared foods in the refrigerated section in tupperware. Seriously, the makhani paneer (royal paneer) will blow your mind, and with 1 of those and some naan (roughly $7) you can feed two people and feel like royalty. It's a bit cramped and the parking situation is weird, but there's always a spot at the CVS across the street. I'm thankful for this business in middletown! read more

This place has the best Indian meals that are prepared on the premises and can be found in the fridges in the back. They are vegetarian which I love and the prices are very affordable. For $40 you can have dinner and lunch the next day for a family of 6! Make sure you order the naan, they make it fresh to order. Everything is delicious, it is leaps and bounds above any Indian food in the area !!! What a treat. I was looking for an Indian grocery store and there happened to be one in Middletown. If you were not looking for it, you might miss it. Actually, the store is in the first floor of a home on the corner by a CVS plaza. Found Patak's jarred sauces and some other treats. They sell all the items to either cook or just enjoy Indian/Pakistani food here and even bake their own bread on premises. watch out for the pervy stockboy who will accidentally "bump" into you because the aisles are small enough that you're brushing up against counters if you don't turn sideways. head straight back to the grimy refrigerated cases for some homecooked indian food that is most likely mislabeled but delicious and cheap. i just go by the color and if it looks like something ive eaten in a restaurant. or just ask - the lady who works there is so sweet. they have a good selection of spices and a huge selection of legumes. a godsend if you're a vegetarian or just like fresher beans than shoprite. the homemade samosas are the best, but again, don't let the stockboy/man grab your ass when he "falls." read more

Went to every other market in Middletown yesterday looking for young green jackfruit in brine for a recipe. Was referred to this place. While small and shady looking from the outside, the folks inside were nothing but warm and friendly and eager to help. I quickly found what I was looking for, but the nice lady behind the counter showed me around the store and told me about the various things they prepared in house. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable, and I will be frequenting this store more often now that I know about it. read more

One of my favorite places to get a meal to take home. Staff is friendly, all the pre-made dishes are fresh and cheap, and you can find some really interesting stuff (mango ice cream is KILLER). Also have lots of fresh produce and packaged goods, but I don't do much cooking so I wouldn't know about those. Never judge a book by its cover...this little Indian bodega looks very sketchy on the outside, but once you get through the door, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Friendly, warm staff, and a wonderful selection of international foods (they even stock British tea-the real stuff). Prices are very reasonable and they make a some dishes on site.
