These people are the best and I mean the absolute best when it comes to car keys. I have the type of keys that you can push a button to open the car, the trunk, etc, but I messed it up (this is my first car like that). Instead of going to Toyota and pay them $200+ for a new key set, I took the damaged key to them and they were able to salvage it for like a third the cost. I know they have at least two vans so if you get locked out of your car, call them (512-353-8615), they'll come and help you out. They're in the tiny little house right behind Autozone on Guadalupe. Three months after locking myself out of my house, I found myself driving to their doorstep with a car issue. I'd had the security light flash on my dash months ago and thought I'd fixed it with a quick reprogramming I found online; worked fine till the afternoon my car decided it wasn't going to start. Turned out some security hardware needed replacement plus my keys were extremely worn. Most mechanics/locksmiths don't do this particular specialty and I was referred here. I got a little frustrated reiterating the situation to their reception via phone but truth is I was frazzled and the employee was being very thorough to ensure they had all the correct information. They quoted me $300 plus tax for the parts, labor and cutting new keys. I brought it in on a weekday afternoon and within 24 hours I got the call my car was ready to pick up. I called them after the previous contacted locksmith stood me up for a new chip key for my truck. I realized the aforementioned bum wasn't going to show up about 4:15 in the afternoon, and had to travel across town to get to AAAA Key & Lock after googling them on my phone. I didn't arrive there until 13 minutes before closing time, and they were able to fulfill all of my key needs, gave me a ton of priceless advice for my future reference, and charged me $70 less than the jerk who failed to show quoted me. The are the most qualified, politest, genuine people I have ever dealt with in any business transaction. Spare yourself all the potential heartache of dealing with anyone else in the key business, and go talk to them first. They are a ten star business. My experience was nothing like former reviewer Joe's, thankfully. I read his review only after I'd already called AAAA once and the lady who answered the phone was very nice, and put the owner Steve on the phone. Now to give some background, my issue was that after a recent battery drain and subsequent full recharge, the car was not starting (or even turning over) even though the battery was getting a 12.9v reading off the charger. The little security key icon on the dash flashed every time I tried to start it. This is evidently a known issue with Ford/Mazda vehicles from the early 2000s and it takes a reprogramming of the security system and keys by a professional or a dealership. The brutal part is that if you're wrong about the battery's status and get the reprogramming done, there is a good chance that after you DO reconcile the battery issue, you need to do the programming again. And it costs $45 to do it, and another $40 for the house call if you live in San Marcos. So I didn't want to take a flyer on $90 without knowing what was wrong. So back to Steve who gave me endless advice on what to do to ensure this so that I would not waste my money (and/or time) calling him out there. I appreciated the integrity as a less honest proprietor might've been happy to come out and take the money and run. After Googling around extensively, checking the battery exhaustively, and calling some local friendly repair shops, it appeared the reprogram was the only way. I called AAAA back (at 4PM) and Steve showed up within 15 minutes. He worked in my driveway (in the rain) until perhaps another 15 minutes later I heard the engine come to life. Good as new, and he even had a machine to swipe a credit card. Now, I'll agree, Steve won't probably win any congeniality contests, but he was a professional, delivered prompt work for the price quoted, and most importantly, got results. In my book, that's what matters. read more

Where to start about this lovely business. I run a business and have used them several times over the past 2.5 years. EVERYTIME, the owner is rude and short with me. I have probably done about $2000 or so of business with them during this time(silly me). Yesterday I call to get all my locks rekeyed, about a $250 job. The receptionist picks up the phone and says, "I dont know when your door closure will be ready" in a very hurried and somewhat rude tone. I explain to her that I am not sure what she is talking about and....she slams me on hold. She comes back and I tell her I don't know about a closure but that I am calling to get my store rekeyed again. She says " we can not get to it today" again very hurried and somewhat rude, then slams me back on hold before I can even say that I am not in a hurry really. She comes back one more time and says "yep no way we can get to it today" very rude this time and sticks me right back on hold. At this time, I look over at my other manager and ask her why I do business with people who are rude to me. I then hang up the phone and call Ricks Locksmith in San Marcos. The receptionist calls me back at the store and says "sorry we must have gotten disconnected". I then nicely explain to her that I just do not want to do business with people who are rude and do not value my business. I explain I called Ricks to do the work. She then yells at me "You do not want them to do it, we have your core key, they will have to drill it out. You know what fine, pay them to drill out. I tried and then hangs up the phone. This time I had her on speaker with my other manager in the room and we both just looked at each other in disbelief. Since I own the core key she is talking about, they are just holding it for convenience as most locksmiths do, I immediately jump in my car and go down to their office. When I walk in she is on the phone with Rick's telling them how she has my core key and isn't going to give it to me. She does not realize it is me waiting to talk to her so she then proceeds to lie to them and tell them I cursed at her and was so impatient that I had to have the work done immediately(even if that was the case, she wouldn't know since she never let me get a word out of mouth). She gets off the phone and asks what she can do for me and I ask her for my core key back. She says, no, then she says $150. I say, no it is my key, you are just holding it. Please give it back. She comes back with "I don't have it". I say well who does and she says the owner does and then proceeds to explain to me that there is absolutely no way I can reach him. She then threatens to call the police on me, I have not even raised my voice or said a cross word to her mind you. I ask her for a piece of paper so that I can write the owner a letter. I pretty much write this story out and leave my cell number so he can call me. She calls me back 3 minutes after I leave and explains that she is not passing it on to the owner because I am was lying. I tell her whatever, just have him call me. 3 days go by and of course I receive no calls. I stop by on my way to work and Steve, who I assume is the owner, is there. He was busy with a customer and I ask him to call me later so that I can get my key back. He then explains that he is not giving my key back as I never paid for it. I bought the entire lock and key system and he is holding it hostage. The morale of the story is. They are rude, lying, thieves and you should take your business elsewhere. On the bright side, Ricks called and provided friendly great service. Give them a try! read more

I'm new to Texas and I just happened to move here rt when the worst storm in a 100years hit. On my new house it had electric key pad locks for the front and back door. The front lock seemed to take a few tries to open and the back didn't even have batteries. So not wanting to stand out in the cold, We called AAAA Key & Lock to get new deadbolts on the front and backdoor & rekey the garage door. Bonnie gave us an estimate and told us that a Technician could be there the next day around 12. We said great! thank you Bonnie. The next day Steve the locksmith came by around 12. He got down to brass tacks and went over what we wanted done. He confirmed the work and started to rekey the garage doors and add new deadbolts for the front and backdoors. Not only was he courteous and professional he got the job done too! Before you know it I had new deadbolts and keys. If you need any sort of Locksmith for any problems. You'll be in good hands if you call AAAA Key & Lock. A few weeks after I got my new locks and keys. I some how locked myself out of the house!!!!!!! Well to say the least the new locks on my doors were working as advertised. There was no way of getting inside unless I did some property damage to my house. Well I wasn't going to burglarize my own home. So I called the Pros AAAA Key & Lock! I got very lucky and I was able to get a Locksmith Technician to my house faster than fast quicker than quick. It was Steve the Locksmith again and I was in the shed trying to keep warm and I didn't know Steve the locksmith was waiting for me in the front of the house. I know businesses can't wait around all day so Steve got out and called out if anyone was at the home. The second I heard his voice I said "Steve!" And went outside to greet him. Before you know it I was out of the shed and inside my home plopped on my couch. AAAA Key and Lock is one great Locksmith company! 5 star service is what they provide! I highly suggest them for any locksmith service in and around San Marcos Texas area. I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful service they have provided me since I have moved to Texas! I was at Float Fest 2016 @ the cool river ranch and lost my keys while tubing! It was a blast, though to my dismay upon ending my float I realized my keys had sunk somewhere up river. I called every locksmith in town and was put on a waiting list. When all other locksmiths said, "they couldn't make it or it was too late." After checking into a HORRIBLE hotel and deciding we, 3 females traveling alone, could NOT stay there, we gathered up all of our belongings and literally threw them into our trucks to get our of there as fast as possible. At one point we noticed the keys to one of the vehicles were just gone. We searched and searched. No keys. We decided the only possiblity was, the missing keys were locked in the truck (the truck that I borrowed from my EX husband, of course). The only option was to call a locksmith. A VERY nice young man, Scott, came within just a few minutes and had the truck opened shortly after (causing the alarm to go off, as if we didn't have enough problems). NO keys! There were some very shady men watching our every move, so Scott offered to stay with us while we contined our search (over an hour of looking at this point). We again, went thru everything they could possibly be in, and finally found the missing keys. Since they were the only keys we had on our travels, Scott offered to make us, two of the three of us, additional keys for our vehicles - AT NO CHARGE. Scott was WONDERFUL. That boy's mama raised him right. We are so grateful for him and his help. Wish there were more people in the world like him....and more companies in business like AAAA. Not going to lie I was a bit skeptical calling a locksmith and not going directly to the dealership when I lost my car keys but I was short on options since it was after hours and needed my keys for work the next day. I called them up and got speedy and efficient service for a really good price. I ended up finding my keys a couple days later and the policy is that you can get your lost key reprogrammed for free within a week w/receipt but lost the receipt. The guy who was reprogramming my lost keys trusted me and said he'd do the key for free without its which was great! These guys know what they're doing and do it with incredible customer service definitely recommending them to anyone who loses their keys or gets locked out of their vehicles. What a shame I didn't read the reviews first!! Locked out of my house -- keys -- cell phone -- handbag -- all INSIDE. So I went to a neighbor and looked up Key & Lock services -- the AAA KEY & LOCK service has a nice ad and I called -- arranged for help and waited. The service technician made some negative comments about the kind of lock on my door -- and tried to pick the lock. In the process he caused some internal mechanism to react in a way that stopped the lock from working -- which is a nice safety feature if you ask me. Apparently designed to keep people from picking locks. Anyway he worked on it some more and got the door open. So far so good. Then, with the door knob all in pieces, he tells me he can't put it back together. I don't care, its a simple matter to replace the whole door knob. BUT he offers a $20 discount if I will use a piece he has in his truck that has a different key. I tell him, "No, I want the key that opens all my doors to work on the door knob in question." That's when we start a truly horrible back and forth with "the office." I'm guessing I was speaking to the same woman mentioned by Joe S. below, she put me on hold and then would not come back on the phone, when I called back she hung up and then called the Sherrif's office. Of course this is all happening on a July day with temperatures in the 90s. I didn't care, the sherrif is an elected office, neither he nor his deputies are going to be horrible to homeowners locked out of their homes. And sure enough the Hays County deputies were just fine. The explained that it was not a criminal matter but a civil matter. So what's with that woman in the office? She should know the deputies can't really do anything. She could not maintain a civil conversation or handle customer service for her business. For that reason alone I highly discourage anyone from using this business. The technician was a true jerk. Calimed that Schlage door locks are cheap. Made all kinds of nasty remarks and when I got my video camera out and took pictures of the truck and of him, he started making comments about legal actions. Stay away from this business. The staff is rude, the service is below par, and now I feel like I have to change all the locks on my house because the technician did make a copy of my key. Apparently these people are licensed by the state, so my next move is to report them to the agency that does the licensing. read more

The lady who claims she "owns" this business is a shitty business woman who treats her customers like crap.
