Overall, I had a decent experience at this AAA office. I stopped by this location to pick up an international driving permit (IDP). While I did not see a directory in this multi-level building, which is shared with other business, the AAA office is located on the first floor, immediately to left of the main building's entrance. I'll say the entire process of getting the permit took about 20 minutes (maybe even less), which was faster than I anticipated. Fortunately, you can take and purchase the passport pictures for the permit in the office. The permit and the set of passport pictures (two pics in a set) will run $20 and $14, respectively. The service was fine. One agent, the one who processed my paperwork, was really nice. The other agent, the one who greets customers, was moderately nice. He was not mean, but he was not super friendly, which is fine I guess. For instance, he started to get a copy of the IDP application. However, when I mentioned that I already completed and printed the online form, he seemed to be annoyed that I did not provide this information before going to the filing cabinet, which was less than two feet from his desk. *Note: he didn't ask or give me a chance to let him know that I already completed the application. Who knows, perhaps, he was having a rough day dealing with other disgruntled customers. read more

ABSOLUTELY horrible roadside service. left my mother stranded for FOUR HOURS with a broken car and STILL not a word from them. As I type this it is near 10pm and they said that her car would be towed by 7:30pm. never get AAA and they have lost me as a customer for life. read more

Saturday was not my day. I got in my car, turned the key, and it sputters with not so much as a faint glint of hope in starting. Thankfully, AAA offers free jumpstarts and towing. Honestly, I was just grateful that I was able to have someone jumpstart my car (I don't know anyone in this area). The AAA worker arrived within half an hour, and not only did he jumpstart my car (to which I was eternally grateful), he also tested my battery. As it turns out, it had 7% of charging capacity left and needed replacement. With premium membership, the original cost of battery replacement with AAA dropped from $183 to $155, so I agreed, and he changed it right there on the spot! Now my car purrs like a kitten, and all it took was a single phone call and 15 minutes of jumpstarting and replacing the battery. I cannot thank AAA enough for turning my day for the better! read more

Well, only three days after I wrote my first review I was happily driving along when I [kinda] hit a curb and blew out my front tire :( I called 1-800-AAA-HELP and a AAA guy was at my friend's house in about an hour. I had a great experience here the other day when I came in to apply for an International Driving Permit. I am an active AAA member but have only recently used them for roadside assistance services. My last time inside this store was probably 15 years ago when I came with my parents as a child to get TripTiks for cross-country drives; remarkably everything looked almost exactly the same. After checking in at the welcome desk, I was given a form to fill out and escorted to a nice waiting area with couches and chairs. Next to this area there is a minifridge with cold bottled water and a Keurig​ coffee machine all for AAA members to use for free. I waited about 10 minutes before an associate helped me, but didn't mind as I was comfortable sipping my caramel coffee and reading a travel magazine. Once it was my turn, I got the necessary passport photo taken for the permit, and sat at a desk to finish the process. In total, this all took no more than five minutes. Once finished, I checked out at the welcome desk and paid around $25 for everything. What could have been a big pain was relatively effortless. This experience has gotten me interested in potentially using more of the AAA services and getting the most out of my membership. I hear the MVA services are good here, and well worth the extra $$ to avoid White Oak! read more

I cannot complain about courtesy of the people at Wheaton. I love my annual membership benefits. However, I was sold travel insurance from Allianz in case my trip needed to be canceled due to Covd -- $248! Only to find that Allianz will not refund due to CoVd. Agents should be told not to sell insurance that will not be valid. I am livid!!!!! read more

AAA saved my ass yet again! There I was, broken down on M Street in Georgetown and in need of a tow to my favored mechanic. I called AAA and told the operator where I was but didn't have an exact address. She asked if I was near a store. I laughed and looked for the most ridiculous store nearby: "I'm across from BCBG" "BCBG???" "Yeah, you know, that clothing store the the expensive trashy but fun clothes" "oh, yeah... okay. They'll be there within 45 minutes" They found me within 25 minutes and had the flatbed truck. Mark had me hop into his air-conditioned truck while he dealt with the car, and even made sure to close my sunroof & windows. We successfully navigated over to VA (see Autoscandia review), and chatted the whole time. Mark even pulled over when he saw another broken-down car to see if he needed help (it was a really hot day). The guy only needed gas, and Mark ranted for a bit about how people need to be responsible and how the guy should have not had his toddler and wife baking in the sunny car on a 96+ degree day. I agreed. Get the premium AAA plan. They'll tow you 100 miles to wherever you want to go for no extra charge. And hope that when your car breaks down you get Mark, he's awesome. And remember to fill up your tank instead of pushing it to the last drop. read more

Would love to give a review but nobody is here to open the store. Three AAA staff members are here to work but nobody to open up. And you can't even call AAA to get a human. I've got a love/hate relationship with AAA. The past few years I've been driving a '96 Volvo and have had to call them plenty of times to fix a flat tire or tow my broken down car. I can't hate them too much because in each instance I've called they've saved my ass. In the process, though, they've taken over an hour to come, once never put in my original call for assistance, once gave the tow truck driver my wrong phone number and he couldn't find me, and once the operator couldn't figure out how to put in "Washington, DC" in their system as my location ("But what city is that? What state?"). My last call to AAA was when my Volvo broke down for the last time while on 295 outside of Richmond. AAA put me on high priority since I was on the highway and got a tow truck there in 20 minutes. I've got a newer car now but there's no way I'm canceling my membership. Being able to know that when I really need help, AAA will be there is worth dealing with the minor but continual frustrations I may have with them. read more

Arrived home just in time to realize I had a flat tire. Called AAA for a tow. They were SO CONFUSED by the fact that we used to live in CA, now in MD, even though we'd already changed our AAA membership to MD and were holding our AAA cards with all our registration info. Finally get through to someone, they're going to send someone out in 45 minutes. Ok. (Since we live within 1-2 miles of a half dozen auto shops, 45 minutes is ok, but not great.) They'll call when they get there. Great. After 1.5 hours of impatient waiting, we call back. Apparently the tow company marked the job as complete... despite never showing up (or calling, or knocking on the door....) Cool! They'll be there in 45 minutes. 2.5 (total) hours later, someone arrives to put the donut on the car. 2.5 hours ago, I'd been planning to drive to an auto shop for the repair. Now it's Friday at 6:00 and we're fucked. Thanks AAA! I can't imagine what purpose AAA could possibly serve in the internet age, where a quick Yelp can find you whatever tow/repair companies AAA is calling anyway. No need to pay an intermediary to make the phone call for you (or not make the phone call, in our case.) We're cancelling the membership. read more

I called AAA for assistance because I was unable to start my car after dining at Plato's Diner. When the technician arrived, he exited his vehicle and immediately said "There are two things that you do not mess with concerning a man, his wife, money, and car".I informed the technician that I was unable to start my vehicle. The technician proceeded to utilize "the jumping box" to charge the battery and when he removed it, I was still unable to start the car. Then, the technician stepped away from the front of my vehicle and went to stand alongside the passenger door. The technician rolled up his sleeves and opened his jacket. I asked if he was going to do something or check something out with my care. The technician said no. He proceeded to remove a pack of cigarretes, benson and hedges. Then he placed them back in his shirt pocket. The technician proceeded to ask me what college did I attend. I gave him a perplexed look and stated is this related to a "discount" for service. He said no. The technician stated he went to Husky Hobos School. I asked what is that. Then, he proceeded to tell me that he worked at a Volkswagen dealership in Laurel and that he only lasted there for six months because he wanted to work at his own pace. Furthermore, the technician stated it was just like when I worked at the prison, I had to leave there. The technician obtained a diagnostic instrument and then, told me that my battery was fine and it had enough amps. I inquired what was the problem. He stated, " I don't know about that". Do you want me to get a tow truck? I told him that I was concerned about the battery because I was unable to start the vehicle. I also informed him that I purchased the battery from AAA in July 2010. The technician emphasized that it was not the battery and not to take the battery out because it nulls the warranty and AAA will not replace it. He stated if anyone asks me if I said this to you, I would deny it. The technician charged the battery up and suggested to start the car that way I could drive it to another location (once I remove the key, the battery would be exhausted). He handed me the top of my lid case for the battery and told me it did not belong there. I placed it in my car and again, I looked at the technician oddly. On Monday, March 19, 2012, I reported this odd behavior from the technician to AAA (employee, Vanessa) and requested for a truck to come out to Duval Road in Greenbelt, Maryland. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived at the location, the technician left even though he stated to Asian Imports that he would wait for 15 minutes. When I arrived to Asian Imports, I was informed that the AAA guy was a little flustered and agitated when he arrived to Duval Road. I informed them that I would call for another AAA assistance. I contacted AAA and informed the customer service representative of the previous situation. The representative told me she would report this situation that occured on Sunday, March 18th and would not send out the same driver. On the third call, the AAA technician was the same guy from the first and second call, Sunday and Monday, respectively. I was astonished and mortified by the careless actions to send the same technician. The technician stepped out the vehicle proceeded to do the diagnostic. He asked me to roll my window completely down because it was partially down and that he didn't want to get locked inside the vehicle. I told him that my car has manual windows and by it being partially down it should not be an issue. The technician said no, roll your window down because I have been through this on three occassions. I proceeded to call customer care and request to speak to a manager. I was transferred to Stanley Johnson, the dispatch supervisor. Stanley Johnson is fully aware of the situation. While I was on the phone with Stanley Johnson, the technician left my vehicle with the battery removed on the ground and disappeared. Mr. Johnson checked the call history and results on Sunday. Mr. Johnson told me that there was no record of a full diagnostic analysis on the car with a code that showed that it was done appropriately by the technician. Mr. Johnson requested another technician, Jayvon, to come to the location and requested for the initial technician. Mr. Johnson informed me that the initial battery that was placed in my vehicle in 2010 was not compatible for my vehicle and that it should have been sold to me. Also, the initial technician refused to leave the scene as instructed by Mr. Johnson and approached (almost in an accosting manner) by saying What's the problem, the job is done now. Mr. Johnson told me even though I paid for battery and it was under warranty that the battery could not be replaced. I informed Mr. Johnson that I was mortified by this whole experience. I informed him if I was by myself with the service technician, I would be concerned for my safety. I am disgusted with the lack of customer service and respect. read more

I walked in ten minutes before they closed on a Friday for tag and title service, but they took my paperwork and put me through the process without even looking at the clock. By the time I had the registration in hand, it was probably twenty minutes after they were supposed to close, but every employee helped me with a smile and a positive attitude. I was so impressed with their efficiency and willingness to serve me after their business closed. I would highly recommend them for tag and title service if you, like me, are unable to make it to the mva during working hours. read more
