I am extremely frustrated with my experience at AAA Car Care Center - W.T. Harris. My vehicle was towed there on July 24 due to overheating, and what followed was weeks of delays, poor communication, payment pressure, and some of the most dismissive customer service I have experienced. I was initially presented with approximately $355 in charges, followed by an estimate exceeding $2,000. After I challenged the price, the total was reduced to $1,652.43. I was also expected to make substantial payments before repairs could proceed and was concerned about being charged storage fees while my vehicle sat on their property. I made multiple payments and ultimately paid my balance in full. However, on August 20, I learned that my vehicle had not been worked on because they assumed I would not be able to pay until the end of the month. After paying the remaining balance, I was told my vehicle would be ready the next day. That promise was not honored. When I called for an update on August 22, I was told my vehicle still had not been worked on. When I questioned the delay, I was told, "Your car has been here over a month," followed by, "I don't see what the urgency is." The irony is that AAA's own service paperwork states: "One Time. On Time. Courteous. Honest Repairs." Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Uber rides, dealt with disruptions to my work and family responsibilities, and spent weeks trying to get clear answers about a vehicle that AAA had in its possession. What concerns me most is the difference between the urgency expected from me to pay and the lack of urgency shown in actually completing the work. Customers deserve transparency, communication, and respect--especially after paying thousands of dollars for repairs. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location. I hope AAA takes this matter seriously and takes the necessary steps to rectify how this situation was handled. read more

Compassionate staff who is willing to address issues. Communication can be a bit better.

My son attends college in Charlotte and his car died just before midnight on May 5th - Thursday night/Friday morning. I told him to call AAA to have the car towed to a garage nearby (not AAA Service Center). The tow-truck driver recommended the AAA Service Center and towed the car there. On Monday (they had the car for 2 days) they diagnosed the issue as a problem with the starter, explained what would be needed, and quoted $1,500 to replace the starter, intake manifold gasket (removal of intake manifold required to replace starter), and hoses and belts that may be damaged during repair. Being 100 miles from the shop with limited options and the car being an old BMW (everything's more expensive) the cost was approved and I was charged $754 on 5/9. We told them we needed the car before Noon on Friday (5/13) and were told it should be ready Tuesday (the next day) or Wednesday. Follow-up calls on Tuesday and Wednesday repeated the claim that the car will be ready before Friday. On Friday I drove down to Charlotte to move my son out of his dorm and loaded all his stuff into my car - we had to be out by Noon. At about 2PM we arrived at the shop and the car had not been touched! A week later and the car was still not being repaired! We were told the car would be ready by 6PM. We left and waited elsewhere for their call. At 5PM they called stating that the car was ready. I paid the balance $678 and we left for home. We paid a premium for a job that should have only cost about $600 ($1,000 tops) and had to wait 7 days. A delay that caused me having to drive down there to collect my son's things. To top it off they charged us $160 for a "Platinum Fuel Service" - a fuel injector cleaning, which we did not request or approve. But, I got a $50 discount for being a AAA member (so, I got that going for me). I let my blind trust in the AAA organization cloud my judgement and now I am questioning the AAA membership itself. I just paid $150 renewing our membership. I will be spending the next year looking for alternatives. read more

Great customer service, have saved me hundreds of dollars both times I have taken my car here and work is always well done

I am a AAA member. Set an appointment for 9:30am to get a oil change, at 11am I was given a diagnostic list and then told that they hadn't done the oil change at all. I've been waiting for 15min to receive my keys... DO NOT COME HERE. The parking lot is not user friendly. read more

Left collector car for an oil change and it appears they took it for a joyride. When I picked it up there was a horrible burning smell. Drove it home and noticed clutch was slipping. Took it to another mechanic who said the clutch was fried and smelled like it had been repeatedly slammed into gear to spin the tires. Aaa offered to fix the clutch but they cannot be trusted so I declined. read more

Don't go here...especially if you're a woman. This place is the stereotypical repair shop that takes advantage. Absolute rip off. All they do is put a bandage on without looking into the root cause of the problem. How the fuck do these people sleep at night?! read more

THEY ARE ROBBING THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! EVEN DURING THIS CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC PEOPLE ARE STILL SCAMMING AND OVERCHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS!! NO COMPASSION OR MORAL COMPASS AT ALL! THEY PERFORM INCOMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WILL DOUBLE CHARGE YOU TO DIAGNOSE YOUR REAL ISSUES! I brought my car in for very specific issues on 03/19/2019. My ONLY goal was to have those specific issues addressed. I paid for a diagnostic test and was told what would fix my issues. I was also told that if there were any other issues that I would be told afterwards and that what they recommended would fix my concerns. After spending $700 in total I thought that I would be able to drive my car without worrying. The same day that I picked the car up I began experiencing the same issues. I was told that I could bring the car back in and they would look at it. After bringing my car in they are saying that I have to pay another diagnostic test fee when they didn't diagnose my initial issues correctly the first time! They had me pay $700 for a diagnostic test, maintenance and services that DID NOT address my main concerns. They are very dishonest and DO NOT care about the safety of their customers. My car shuts off while driving it and they let me leave off their lot in a car that they DID NOT thoroughly check out! And then had the nerve to ask for more money when they didn't do what I paid for initially! I will be filing a BBB complaint and I have already file a complaint with their corporate office. read more

Worst experience ever! My daughter took her car in due to a noise she was hearing. AAA called and said that they could not even get the car to start. What?! She's been cranking it without a problem. So, they said she needed a key lock cylinder ($550). I'm convinced their technician caused the problem. Oh, and "by the way, ma'am, you also need to replace the transmission for $3,000." Needless to say, we left to never return. read more

Terrible place! They would not pass my car for inspection. They wanted me to spend 500.00 dollars on new tires even though they had plenty of tread. How do I know this? I went down the street and my car passed. SCAMMERS!!!! read more

On August 31, 2022, I went to AAA Car Care Centers, 1740 Flat River Drive, Charlotte NC 28262 for my yearly NC Inspection. I paid $45 for the inspection which I failed because the inspector said I need to repair the power steering pump. I took my car to Honda on 9/1/2022 for a second opinion and was informed that AAA should not have failed me because the power steering pump did not need to be repaired. Because AAA failed my inspection, I now have to pay $1,000 to replace the power steering pump before my vehicle passes NC state inspection. I feel AAA Car Care discriminated against because (1) I am a woman and (2) I am African Caribbean (Black) and wanted me to spend money on a repair I did not need. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO AAA - W.T. Take your vehicle somewhere else! They're a rip off! They did a diagnosis and charged $99? They did an estimate for $600+ which another mechanic did for $229. Years back, I took my car there. They gave me a $3000+ estimate. I wasn't going to pay that much for my old car. Another mechanic fixed the car for a little less than a thousand! read more

They are professional and seem to get my oil changed in a reasonable amount of time. Oil changes are the only thing I've been here for, so that's all I can comment on. They rely heavily on appointments, so don't stop in unannounced and expect them to get you right in. They'll try, but you will wait. The store and waiting areas are clean, new and nice. I really have nothing to complain about. I'd recommend this place to anyone, whether you're a AAA member or not. read more

This new location provides car care (no body work), insurance, travel, and other AAA member services. I visited for member services and the staff were quick and attentive and service was prompt. The on-site insurance services are new - that's home, life, auto, etc. You can drop off your car if necessary and get your hair done at Indulgence or grab a quick bite at Salsarita's both just across the parking lot. read more

I have been coming here for 3 years and for 3 years I trusted my car care with this location. The staff has always been friendly and service has always been fast. However, in the last couple of months, I have my suspicions about this place that is deeply disturbing. I needed some preventative maintenance performed on my car back in September. I asked the service rep to write up everything I needed so I could begin to budget for the services. I ended up getting four services done. This all was completed by mid-October. At the time I scheduled my inspection for December. I went in yesterday and they told me 4 things were wrong with my car- one of which would not allow me to pass my inspection. THREE of those things were the exact areas that my car was serviced for in mid-October. I asked how the 3 things could be and the sales rep said, "I'll have to relook at this." She continued to try to explain that maybe the person who had inspected my car had "just checked things off" and that she would "have a talk with them." This is VERY CONCERNING and FRAUD! She tried to comfort me and say the 4th thing could not be a mistake, though, because the person who inspected the 4th thing was a different person. The 4th thing is $300 dollars and I cannot understand how it was missed in both September and October. The sales rep tried to say it could be my driving style- I call bs. I'm really supposed to believe that in 2 months my driving style all of a sudden changed? How can I trust the inspector if even the sales rep is doubtful that the workup is correct? Now I'm stuck bc I need to get my inspection passed but who is to say there really is a problem? I will NOT be going back here and will be looking into other ways to report my (and the sales rep's) suspicion. read more

I always recieve fast and timely service here. Nick at the front is very helpful and always helps with coupons. I recently has fluid services:brake, oil, and transmission. It was less than 2 hours for the work. The cost was amazing and fair. My biggest compliment is that AAA never sells you a service that you do not need. You will get texts throughout the whole process that let you know the car status and that's a great feature. I highly recommend the location at Flat River rd in Charlotte, and. read more

I could write 2 reviews for this location, 1 for the travel section, and 1 for the auto service area. But I'm going to roll them into 1 instead. Travel: it's nice to see that people still use travel maps and trip-tix. I remember the thrill of going to AAA before planning a trip back in the old days (before the internet) and picking up brochures and maps. The clerk was very efficient, and had a couple of great suggestions on local sightseeing where we were heading. Auto service: I was having an issue with my ignition system, so I took the car to AAA. Unfortunately, I was met with the words we all dread to hear: "we won't be able to do anything unless it does it again". And of course the problem wouldn't replicate itself on demand. I needed my tires balanced, so I figured I'd get that done, and in the meantime the ignition might act up again. I didn't have an appointment, so I was given a wait time of 2 hours. The waiting room was ok, the chairs were plentiful, and there were a couple of computers to use. Pricing seemed a little high, even for a member. read more

I had a great experience here. Jason the service tech was fast and courteous during the whole oil change process. It was fast and prices were competitive. The service here is wonderful. I was extremely distraught about needing my timing belt fixed. Not only would it be $1400 to fix, but I use my car for work. I literally drive for a living. So no car meant no work. It broke down on a Thursday and they said they couldn't have it fixed until Tuesday. The guys really, truly came through for me, though. They took one of the mechanics off of the jobs he was doing and he diligently worked on my car to get it done by 4:30 on Friday. It was amazing. They had no reason to do that, but they did! I couldn't have been happier. In a world where people are so selfish, they took a moment and assessed my situation and felt like they could do something nice. They truly helped me out in a big way. I will always recommend this business to people! read more

The worst auto shop ever! Made an appointment yesterday at 4:0pm called the day before and told them the issue and the serviceman said no problem. But when I arrived early for my spot yesterday at 3:30 waited 30 minutes for the service man to say he couldn't fix my car because he didn't have time and I could have left it or reschedule it. Wasted my freaking time because he was the one to schedule the spot! Thank god for Nissan was in and out in 30 minutes. read more

They did not apear to even care about my issues with my car. Auto: The location is great as previous reviewers have mentioned; barbershop, bakery, restaurants within walking distance so you can multi task. They were friendly and polite. If I didn't have a coupon & a membership the oil change would have cost $45. 109$ an hour for labor is a little high in my humble opinion. I made an appointment easily the next day from the previous day phone call. However; they left my car unlocked in the parking lot....I'm not okay with that. How about I just hand over my keys and valuables to a thief? Travel : I did have a good experience with the travel people. I ran into a challenge with an online booking and the employee gave me the contact info for a manager and she fixed the problem right away. They also sell Baggalini bags for those of you who are as obessed as I am with the brand. read more

I had a bad experience with this location First time going there. Unfortunately I was charged for a very expensive labor fee of $90 for nothing. The process was less than an hour and this location DID NOT FIX MY PROBLEM. The supervisor of this location called me and left a message on my voicemail. I returned the phone call and left a message. However, I did not get a call back from this supervisor. I finally received a call back from the regional manager and I was surprised but happy someone reached out to me. The regional manager explained some processes to me and I definitely understand. We were able to work out the issue and I am completely satisfied now. Thank you Michael for your concern. I want to give a job well done to Stacy and staff. We had a roadside battery issue awhile back. When we went to have our car serviced this week they told us we had the wrong battery and the tie down was missing. We went over to AAA car care on Harris and corrected the issue without any issue. They even ordered a new tie down since ours was now gone. Thanks for a job well done!!!! read more

11/19/11 I've been a member since 2006. I recently needed assistance from AAA Plus to tow a vehicle from Highway 707 in Myrtle Beach, SC to East Coast Honda, Highway 17 S. approximately 7 miles. The request was attended to with little wait time and in a pleasant manner. This is the first time I've needed the towing service and will not hesitate to use it again, if needed. I currently have AAA Plus and will upgrade to AAA Premium. Sincerely, Eleanor S. read more

John, Derek, and Jason are prime examples of customer representatives as they should be! It is very difficult to get an oil change here. It is across the street from my apartment so I stopped by a few of times on days off and they always say that they are fully booked and that I would have to make an appointment. The place never looks busy! It's kind of strange because I've never had to do that for a quick oil change before. I called to make an appointment for my next day off and they said they were booked and could only offer the next day. I don't get it. They aren't very nice about it either. Maybe they don't like to do oil changes? When I needed an inspection, I also needed tires so I got two used ones (from a different place) and the guy told me I should be fine to pass an inspection with the other two because they still had enough tred. I went to AAA to get the inspection and that guy failed me. He too was kind of rude about it. It's just a difficult place to deal with, at least for me. Even though it's across the street, pretty much anywhere else is more convenient. read more

Fast and efficient service and didn't rip me off with unnecessary repairs, in-fact advised me otherwise. Friendly staff too.

They provide insurance, travel and auto care at this location. My mom had been a AAA member and had their insurance growing up so when switching my insurance over and being in a new state I knew what I was getting in regards to insurance. Their rate was fair to other competitors as well so it made the decision easy. The agent who helped me at this location was Amber and I recently went back to switch payment over and Emily helped me with that. They were both very professional, patient and knowledgable and would recommend that service to other people. However, the auto care portion is another story. With my membership, I got $15 off an oil change, they start around $24.99 and my large SUV takes 7 quarts so it's always more expensive wherever I end up going, it was around $38 total. They tried to sell me the new air filter, which they said could be there in 25 minutes. I had an apt at 1 and it was during a break in between work, this was closer to 2 when they asked this. They then informed me a sensor in my tire pressure monitor was out, which I knew. That wasn't really an issue, but when I left, my tire pressure monitors were saying the pressure was low, meaning they hadn't put air in my tires, and my low washer fluid light was still on. At that price, and this level of service you expect for them to top off fluids and put air in tires. This made me a bit annoyed. When I called they stated that it's standard that they do those things and I could bring it back and they'd check it again. No thanks, should've been done the first time. Before any of this we had scheduled an appointment for my partners car to be brought in Saturday. Told me it would be around the same price, fine. I fair warned him about the other issues to make sure he checks they did that, fine. When he gets there, at 8am Saturday morning, he's told because of the kind of oil his car takes it was going to be around $70 for an oil change. Um, no thank you. He took his keys and walked out. The guys at the front desk for auto care are nice, but at the end of the day they're salesman. I'm not sure I would trust this location for other services. Just do your homework on prices to make sure they're not ripping you off, and maybe get a second opinion. Haven't utilized the travel center yet so I can't speak to that, but definitely go see Amber or Emily about insurance! read more

customer service is friendly and they have 2 computers in waiting room

This was my first trip to this location as a new AAA member. I made an appointment the day before and dropped my car off that morning. They had my vehicle ready by lunch. The staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable and even offered a courtesy shuttle service. The facility was clean and offered vehicle service, travel agent, Hertz counter, insurance, and travel products (suitcases, bags, etc.). I used a email coupon which brought the price down to a reasonable amount but without it the prices seemed high. I would recommend this location with the only knock being the higher prices. read more

Never going here again for car service, and I'm probably going to be cancelling my membership, too. I had a low coolant light come on a couple weeks ago, they charged over $500 to fix a hose and to buy the kit they claimed had to come with it. The light came back on this week. Took it back today, they said the water pump was broken and would cost almost $400. Had my car taken to another garage, they said the pump wasn't broken, and the first fix probably didn't need to be made as well; it was just a broken censor. I believe AAA was going to keep overcharging me for "broken" parts that they "missed" during inspection the previous time. They were dishonest and crooked, and I will never deal with them again. read more

This location offers auto, travel, and insurance services. The travel center is fine -- I asked for and received exactly what I was looking for (maps for our vacation), but would have loved for someone to sit down with me and recommend some things to do at our vacation destination. I have not used the insurance services, but there always seems to be an agent available. The car service area is not on my list of places to repeat business. This was my second oil change there. The first time I waited for 90 minutes for my car to be finished. Since I had a coupon, I thought I'd try it again. Nope. 2 hours this go round. for an oil change. Oh, and by the way, you have to have an appointment. One of the guys did offer to take me home or wherever, but that was an hour into my stay. If i didn't have an appointment, I don't think the wait would bother me so much, but I did . . . and it does. I will not be back. read more
