I had called to purchase a new policy and to add my granddaughter as a new driver. Spoke to Jose and during our conversation, he never once mentioned the extra $160.00+ fee that is charged by the agency themselves. They call it, "Policy or Service Fee Consent" but they, Jose never mentioned these fees. They charge it separately from the policy itself. It wasn't until I went to sign the paperwork, I seen the hidden fee, and I specifically typed on the signature line, "LET'S DISCUSS THESE FEES". I did not receive a call from anyone at Superior. and it was already after closing. I called the next day and spoke to a woman and told her I wanted to cancel my policy because these extra fees that were never discussed, she stated in a raised voice, "you're not getting that back and that you signed the paperwork approving it". So, I guess when the electronic signature crap they send you automatically signs your name even though it gives you a choice to type what you want, it converts it to a signature. My paperwork shows exactly what I typed and SIGNED. They at Superior are saying that I SIGNED IT AND AGREED TO IT... THAT'S A LIE. I am filing a complaint with the NC Insurance Commissioner of their shady business doings. I have never had an Insurance Agency bill me a service fee on top of what I am charged from the Insurance company themselves, including the one I am currently with. Keep shopping for a better and more honest Insurance Agency!!!

I've been with Liberty Mutual Insurance company for approximately 12 years. I had actually switched…read morefrom Geico to Liberty Mutual because Liberty Mutual gave me a group discount. After about a year, when it was time to renew my insurance, Liberty Mutual went up on my insurance. I decided to stay with them because I do not like to switch back and forth to insurance companies. Each year, my insurance rate increased. During the recession, I became unemployed but continued to make my payments. Sometimes I was late (no more than two weeks late). Then they reported me at least two times that year to the state of North Carolina Insurance for "lapse of coverage" when I did not even lapse my auto insurance. My insurance was never canceled. However, I did have late payments. I never got into any accidents, never had to file a claim. Never had my insurance policy canceled. This is annoying to get a letter from the state stating that my insurance has lapsed when I know it did not (and also detailed in the letter it was "Liberty Mutual that reported that I did not have car insurance" when in fact, I still had active insurance with LIBERTY MUTUAL. Also, If I did not get this straightened out, I would face penalties from the state as well as not being able to drive due to "lapse of insurance". I had to contact Liberty Mutual to get them to send a special form to the state of North Carolina to report that I actually did have insurance and that my insurance NEVER LAPSED. This was very annoying and very hurtful that a company that I had been with for so long would do this and cause inconvenience to me by making a false report to the state of North Carolina. I would say that over the years that they did this at least FIVE times. Most recently, a month after I renewed my policy with them, I noticed that my insurance rate had increased yet again. And I received a letter from the state of North Carolina stating that I had "lapsed coverage" again. This time, I was so upset that I finally decided that I was going to cancel my insurance. And don't you know, when I did cancel my insurance they charged me over $200 to cancel my insurance with them. I emailed a letter to customer service and contacted customer service and reached this office here at 7401 Carmel Executive Park (my local office) and they were absolutely rude once they found out that I wanted to cancel my insurance and did nothing to try to make things right with me. I would think that loyalty would mean something to a company. After being a customer for so long. I definitely feel that I was not valued as a customer. I should not have continued to do business with them for as long as I did. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT GOOD, and the company does not value a loyal customer. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH LIBERTY MUTUAL EVER AGAIN. AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE DOING BUSINESS WITH LIBERTY MUTUAL. Those commercials you see on television for Liberty Mutual are misleading. Their rates are not competitive. They go up on their rates. You will end up paying high premiums. They do not value good loyal customers. Do not trust this company. And the local office sucks!

If you are or are considering NGIC for your insurance coverage…read more.. if there were subzero stars that's what they would get. If you are insured by or considering NGIC (National General Insurance Company), you need to be a fully informed consumer. I will never know whether the sudden illness and unexpected, untimely death of my previously healthy 8-year-old dog was impacted by my inability to secure transportation to the hospital for over eight hours due to the lack of a pet-friendly Uber--circumstances directly and needlessly created by National General Insurance Company (NGIC)'s unlawful refusal to authorize payment for repairs they authorized and were responsible for, after the work was completed which forced the repair shop to hold my car hostage for 5 days (not the shops fault). I will carry that uncertainty, along with the grief and frustration, for the rest of my life. What I do know with certainty is that I should never have been placed in that position--no one should be--and certainly not as the not-at-fault party, on top of an already stressful situation. Be clear in understanding that this was not an "accident." Video evidence, the police report, and the issuance of multiple warrants against the at‑fault driver once identified establish that the conduct was deliberate and intentional, dangerous and intended at a minimum to intimidate and potentially to cause harm. That is the behavior this company elected to protect, incapacitating my ability to drive to/from work and get my furchild medical attention, while allowing that individual to remain on the road with the foreseeable risk of repeating these actions and causing physical harm to others. The highly recommended, very reputable and well established repair shop staff were audibly and visibly shaken after what they described as the most horrific drawn out back and forth with the meanest most callous and incompetent insurance company representatives (including and especially those in "supervisory" positions) they have ever encountered let alone had to work with in their 50 years of business. Formal complaints were filed with the NCDOJ Consumer Complaints Division and the NC Dept of Insurance Regulatory Agency as well as the BBB.
