Sam, the driver, also kept in excellent contact with me and was extremely understanding when the wait between the ride there and the ride back was much longer than expected. Tara and Sam made it so easy for my office to pay for the ride for our client online. The ride total was less expensive than other local cab companies too. Why couldn't you have just turned me from a rich man in the wrong location to a rich man in the right location? Just kidding. I was never a rich man to begin with, and I'm certainly not a rich man now after using Eagle Taxi's service. But some things just needed to be done, and I needed to get back home. Eagle Taxi took me there as fast as they could. I needed to get a ride from Marysville to Redmond, a city about 32 miles south. Because traffic was so horrible during afternoon's rush hour that Sunday, the taxi actually came to a standstill at some points and we were forced to wait on the freeway for a while. The total drive time actually came to about an hour, but it's not fair for me to count the time against them. They only charge by the distance traveled, anyway. So eventually, I got to my destination. No wrecks or anything crazy like that despite the chaos that was I-5 and I-405. The guy driving me was nice and had his adolescent son in the front passenger seat for some reason. The total came to $88.29, for which I gave the driver five twenty-dollar bills. I would have tipped more, but that total came out to much more than I had expected. But hey, I'm glad the guy was even willing to write up a receipt for me. It would have been nicer if I weren't a hundred dollars shorter for my travel, though.

The second driver contacted us curbside as scheduled and that's when the problem began. He mediately began driving at excessive speed, weaving in and out of traffic and tail gating in the HOV lane. We were not in any particular hurry, but he seemed to be as he followed several cars at unsafe distances. In one instance we were so close to the rear of an SUV he couldn't possibly see any of the traffic ahead and would never have been able to avoid a collision in an emergency. Very dangerous!! I asked for a receipt and got out expecting he would at least help me get my bags out of the trunk but he just sat inside and popped the trunk for me to get my bags. When I approached him after I got my bags I said "a tip is earned based on service, for a $3 tip you could have at least helped me get my bags. He says "that's not my business"!!! And drove off. I decided to call Orange cab and at least lodge a complaint. I was definitely not happy when I called and I told the dispatcher. He then asked if I had the cab # or drivers name, which I didn't. I told him where I was picked up and dropped off and the nationality of the driver but he let me know that I hadn't done it right and it was making it harder for him to do his job!! Before I knew it I'm getting upset with this guy who starts getting upset with me. It was all unnecessary as far as I was concerned but par for the course since I had received the same treatment from the driver. My point to anyone reading this is: don't pay a driver until you are out of the cab and they have completed their level of service. This will allow you to decide how much to tip them. I do not want to penalize a driver who "earns" it but I will no longer tip crappy service and I will not be hiring Orange Cab again, thankfully there are choices.
