I live and die by getting AAA and it has ALWAYS paid for itself. I always opt to get the holy sh!+ program and without a doubt end up using it every-time. Now that you can get your tags done in office and opt to get you real ID I highly suggest coughing the money to get it. Even if you already have road side assistance with your current insurance provider I doubt it offers the up to 100 miles of free towing anywhere that ASA does. Now that if you have a friend who had a AAA plan you can get it for half off. For the piece of mind it can't be beat. read more

I went to the N. San Jose AAA office to get a new tag for my car. It was over an hour wait LAST year. There were 3 people ahead of me inline inside the office this year. One of the people came out from behind the counter to see what service we needed. I was in and out within 15 minutes this year. I had my checkbook with me but AAA does NOT accept checks- only debit or credit and they charge $2.40. I had trouble getting my tag from the DMV years ago. I mailed in a check along the renewal forms. The P.O. or the DMV lost my letter for over 3 weeks and I paid a $20. late fee because of that. Then I had to file a form to get the money back from DMV since they cashed my check when they finally got it. I could not get back the late fee!! Going directly to AAA is a better choice and I have the new tag the same day. read more

It's stressful enough when I found out my recent incidence was not covered by my homeowners' insurance policy. Therefore, I went to the nearby Brokaw branch hoping to get a review of my policy and make sure I'm covered going forward. I made an appointment with James for 8:30am. He was 15-20 minutes late without an apology and this was only the beginning of a bad experience. Once we sat down, he started looking through my policy. I told him about the incidence and my intention of the visit. I asked him if we could go over the Exclusions in my policy and see if there's additional coverage I need to get to make sure I'm covered. He showed me what's covered under my policy and told me that everything that's not listed there will not be covered. I already read my policy so many times because of the incidence so I know my policy off the back of my hands. I asked him again if we could go over the Exclusions. Then he got very snappy with me, saying "it could take us all day to think of every scenario that I'm not covered." I was shocked with his response. Then I explained to him that there's an "Exclusions" section in the policy, and if we can see what other policy I need to get in order to turn the "Exclusions" into "Inclusions". However, from then on, I just wanted to talk to someone else who would help me. I've been with AAA for years and I rarely talked to the customer services, but if this is what I would get when I'm in need of help, I'm gone. read more

It's unfortunate that I had to deal with a bad customer service rep via phone. So I decided to come in to speak with someone in person. I'm so glad they opened up this location, literally 2 min. away from home. Coming here today, I remember why I chose and stayed with AAA. It's unbelievable that this customer service rep over the phone told me to think about looking at other insurance carriers. Anyway! I came in and was immediately greeted. When taking a seat in the waiting room, found lots of reading material esp for traveling! This spot is clean, bright, open and had nice decor. Not even 5 min after being seated a rep came to get me. I told her my experience over the phone and she was in total disagreement with whatever the phone rep had told me and apologized for being mis-informed and even said she'd want to tell this story to her manager. She was quick, I paid my policy. Also inquired about their DMV and travel services and she directed me accordingly. Now this part I love... I took care of 3 things here: 1. Payment of my policy, with other questions I had getting answered 2. DMV services allowed me to find out this years vehicle registration due date and amount due because I had lost my reg paperwork DMV sent me in the mail. I can even pay it here without having to go to the DMV 3. Lastly, got more info on traveling packages as I will be on vacation next week. AAA, while you're at it can I get a full body back massage and get fed some grapes simultaneously? Lol jk Oh and not to mention, I saw the do car work here like oil changes and stuff! You are probably better off finding a different cheaper auto and homeowners insurance company. AAA was not helpful with our car accident case. The claim representatives and claims adjusters were rude and did not protect and defend us against the opposing party even though we not at fault. They even gave us a hard time and it ends up being a big argument. They hung up the phone and cut us off short abruptly while we try finishing our sentence without even saying the word good-bye. AAA staff were doing this kind of bad behavior and actions on a consistent basis. Took us over 30 mins. to get hold of a representative to report an accident. Representatives when we got hold of them over the phone acted as if they were helping us for free, didn't even treat us like a policyholder. They treated us like a public county hospital. Incredibly rude. Representative did not even email us on the claim number despite we reported the accident, and they said over the phone that they will email us. Had to call back again and wait for a representative on the phone to email us to even keep AAA accountable. Claims adjuster didn't reply to our email and phone calls for months and AAA didn't make an attempt to assign us another adjuster when we needed it the most. They let us become stranded as if we had no insurance, despite we had a 1 year statute of limitations on the claims. AAA's customer service has become worse and worse over the years. Their representatives, staff, and claims adjusters are incredibly lazy, rude and especially had a claims adjuster from the South that did not reply and call us back even though we left them a voicemail. AAA did not take any disciplinary actions against these people and seems to even promote them. They consistently gave us the run around and tired us out from phone calls to get connected to the right agent. Not to mention they raise our premiums despite having a good record. Amanda P. was not a helpful broker and kept insisting us that the premiums were not much at all. Excuse me, but she acts like she is using and investing our thousands of dollars going towards paying for the insurance premiums. Of course it's not that much, because its not her money, she is using other people's money. She also sided with the insurance and tries to discourage us from using their coverage despite we paid thousands each year on their premiums. AAA is very good at marketing and getting the Asian community to get their foot into AAA's doors to gain profit, but leaves a mess once you come in. It's not a piece of mind, but more problems evolving. Save your time and money, and research to find a better insurance company that will pick up the phone quickly and have at least decent hospitality, and quick response turnaround time for its policyholders. Don't waste your time and money with AAA. AAA in recent years deserves an "F" letter grade for satisfaction and customer service. read more

I came her to take care of some DMV paperwork. David helped me and was very prompt getting me in and out. On my way out, I inquired about the free Giant's cooler. i was informed by a gentleman that I would need to inquire for a free quote to obtain the cooler. I was directed to Monica who is not the brightest star. She was nice but wow, she is not an expert at her job. I asked her to give me a quote on a 2015 car and she said it's not possible w/o a VIN. She seriously did not know how to look up a 2015 new car for my quote. I started instructing her and driving the process on which site to find a 2015 VIN. d I could tell she got frustrated and told me to stop touching her mouse. Bless her heart she was trying but boy, she irritated me. I told her to quit looking and I was done with the free quote. I walked away with my bag and never intend to work with her EVER. These guys are great!! I live in Campbell and the AAA there is no longer open on weekends and honestly, I just can't take time off work to go during the week. I found on Yelp that this location was so I hopped in the car of Saturday and checked it out. First of all this location is very large. I wasn't expecting that all and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a very energetic guy who showed me where to go. The gentleman who then helped me with my "situation" was fantastic. It's so much faster and easier to do DMV business at AAA! The agents here were super kind and helpful, and I'll be coming back here the next time I need help. The AAA can't do all types of transactions, but they can issue temporary operating permits and license plates (unless you bought from an out of state dealer), as well as renewing registration (with stickers) and driver's licenses. (They can't issue Real ID licenses, but I hear it's easy to get those at the Senter Rd. "DL only" DMV office.) The waiting area has free hot Keurig beverages and cold water, as well as WiFi. That's more helpful if you're waiting for auto repair, unless you arrive thirsty. (I don't recommend AAA Car Care for VW/Audi, but that's a different review.) read more

2 THUMBS WAY, WAY DOWN!! AAA left me stranded 3 HOURS from home and cost $860.00 for a dead battery!!!! It was move in day for Freshmen at San Jose State University this past Sunday. After moving my son into his dorm, I returned to my vehicle to find it no longer had power. I called AAA, advised them of my situation, and they dispatched a driver to jump my vehicle. Upon arrival, the driver emerged from the truck reeking of marijuana, and attempted to jump my vehicle. The battery wouldn't hold power and the dash displayed a charging system malfunction message (logical message considering the battery was dead). He advised me it was a bigger issue than the battery because the dash also displayed a keyless fob malfunction (also seems logical to me, since the fob obviously wouldn't work if the battery is dead). He declined replacing the battery and suggested I tow the vehicle to the AAA facility at Brokaw Commons to avoid excess mileage fees and to have the repair done at the facility. At this point, I was stranded in San Jose and my only option was to Uber home 3 hours away that evening since I have another child and a pet (costing me a very nice chunk of change). The next day I receive a call from AAA. I'm told the issue is not the battery and they will not touch the vehicle since it is still under manufacturer's warrantee. Again my vehicle is towed. This time to the dealer (Ching, Ching)! Today, I received a text message from the mechanic at the dealership. Dead Battery. Are you freakin' kidding me???!!! Oh, and a $215.00 diagnostic fee to boot! AAA already completed the diagnostic and could have provided the codes and/or data to the dealership. Total cost to Uber home: $260.00 Total cost for a new battery: $480.00 Total cost to drive to and from San Jose to pick up my vehicle: $120.00 AAA, Monitor the quality of the services you provide and keep your employees off the drugs during work hours! Your members pay for your service and deserve better when unexpected issues arise. Maybe then, you will become an asset to your members instead of liability. read more

This is my favorite AAA branch. The staff is always friendly and so helpful. I do as much DMV transactions as possible so as to avoid the original DMV on Alma (a serious nightmare) or drive really far to go to another branch. Haven't driven since and today I went to run errands and the car is the same (wouldn't even turn over) . Nephew thought maybe alternator wasn't connected to charge battery. Called again and they sent a Jonathan who was mean spirited and rude. He told me he couldn't do anything. I reminded him what office said that I could pay and he wanted $85 in cash (probably to pocket it himself). yes, I am fuming. I asked if he would look at alternator and said "NO" it wasn't his fault I couldn't pay my bill (membership lapsed 3 days ago). No guarantees to the work they did last week. AAA should hire another towing company. One that has blood in his heart not a stone. The office wasn't much help themselves. Being a senior and on a fixed income, they should have more empathy. Went to smog my truck unfortunately it wasnt ready the first time , but was able to go to the next line and register my truck , i loved being a AAA member and loved the insurance when i had it , i kept my membership for towing and dmv services and this was my first visit and use of it , first time i went i met cathy she was very cheerful and helpful , i didnt have ti stand in line more than 2sec when she saw me she waived me to her station and took care of me , cathy did everything she could at that time pending smog , i came back to resmog and the truck passed i was very fortunate to get cathy a second time this time she remembered me and was even more helpful she reconfirmed my info and gave me my sticker and finalized my registration , we had a quick conversation about team work and working Saturdays , and off i went . She made me aware of a change where DMV won't let them take checks any longer. Thus, I was prepared to have an alternate payment method ready. This AAA location is THE BEST if you need DMV tasks done. I have called once and been here twice for complicated help getting a duplicate title and doing a transfer of title. All three interactions have been painless and very productive! They have extremely knowledgeable and friendly people to help you. These folks know the DMV process inside and out. The lines can be long, but they move fairly quickly, and they usually have someone walking the line who will ask you what you need and direct you to the right location. Today, a Monday, I walked in at about 1:30pm, and the line was out the door, so I went and got some Froyo at the Yogurtland around the corner. Half an hour later I was back at AAA, and I was 2nd in line, and out the door with a new title on its way to me in 15 minutes. Couldn't be more easy, and actually, they never asked for my AAA card to prove membership. read more

Yes, AAA is on the pricier side but honestly, you get what you pay for. I prefer to spend my money on things that matter like insurances rather than material things. As someone who has been in a bad accident, no one will cover you the way AAA does. I was helped by Devi Jackson and she was very friendly and thorough. I didn't feel rushed nor like she was trying to make money off of me.
