I am fed up with this AAA location. I recently moved to this area from West San Jose and had always gone to the AAA on Stevens Creek without any issues. The first time I came in, I tried to get a registration sticker but couldn't because the car was under my sister's name. I came back a week later to do a title change. The front desk person highlighted the fields I needed to fill out and told me that the purchase amount didn't matter and to just put whatever I wanted. When I finished the paperwork and got to the counter, I was told I needed a smog check and that the transfer fee would be based on what I paid for the car. I explained that I got the car from my sister, and based on that information, he should have told me that a smog check might not be required and that there is a family transfer fee. Instead, he turned me away, saying I still needed a smog check and that I could only pay the transfer fee at that time. I'm glad I didn't pay because I later learned about the family transfer fee, which only cost me $30. From the DMV website: Used Vehicle Fees Grand Total Registration Fees: $30.00 Total Use/Sales Tax: $0.00 Total Registration Fees: $30.00 Fee Details Transfer: $15.00 Transfer Penalty: $15.00 I do not recommend this location. I understand that the first time they couldn't help me because the car was not under my name. But when I came back to fix that issue, I left feeling frustrated and defeated. They wasted so much of my time. The front desk person was polite but misinformed me, and the person at the counter was standoffish and made me feel unwelcome. read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally complain about repeated misinformation and lack of follow-through by staff at the AAA branch on Brokaw Road. A few months ago, I went to this location to handle my mother's handicap placard using a valid Power of Attorney. I was incorrectly told by a staff member that a Power of Attorney would not work under DMV rules. This information was false. I later confirmed directly with the DMV that a valid Power of Attorney does cover all of my mother's DMV-related needs, including this matter. Yesterday, I returned to the same AAA location to cancel two memberships--one for my mother and one for my aunt--both of whom I legally represent under Power of Attorney. The front desk employee, who identified himself as Javier, stated that he would remove both individuals from the account and that all calls would stop. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Today, I have received multiple calls from AAA stating that these accounts are "expired" and need renewal. I had to repeatedly explain that both memberships were already canceled and that both individuals have permanent handicap placards, making the memberships unnecessary. This reflects a serious lack of communication, training, and follow-through by your staff. Power of Attorney is a legally recognized document, and it should not be dismissed or misunderstood by AAA employees. Additionally, when a cancellation is confirmed in person, it must be properly processed to avoid continued harassment by phone. I expect the following: 1. Immediate confirmation that both accounts are fully canceled 2. Written assurance that no further calls will be made regarding these accounts 3. Proper staff training regarding the validity and scope of Power of Attorney documents This situation has been unnecessarily time-consuming and frustrating and should not happen again. The service I received today for my DMV needs and auto insurance was awesome. After walking in I was greeted and checked in for my DMV needs first. Since I was one of the first people there I was helped right away. I did a title transfer and paid for registration. After my DMV needs I checked in for insurance. The wait was a bit longer but it got busy and there were others ahead of me so I was okay with it. Service I received with my insurance was awesome as well. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back for services I need on a Saturday at this location. read more

I came to this location for DMV services and consult on my insurance renewal. I would recommend folks to this branch. DMV Services: Staff was friendly and knowledgable. I purchased a vehicle from a private party and was able to register the car here without waiting in long lines at the DMV. The staff helped me through the registration process and the pink slip arrived in no time. Insurance consult: I had a lot to ask and the staff answered all my questions. Technically I called AAA first but I had a terrible experience over the phone. I appreciated the patience and knowledge the staff provided me here at this location. I talked to two different people on two separate visits and both were kind and helpful. Front desk: Huge shout out to Cathy Gelinske! She was the first person I met upon entering the lobby. She was extremely inviting and did an amazing job at trying to understand what I needed help with. She was quick and efficient to triage me to the right place and even answered some of my questions. This first point of contact is crucial (and often overlooked) in the customer service space and she did a great job setting the right expectation so that the hand off to DMV services or Insurance consult was smooth. I can't stress enough what a great place this is to bring your car for maintenance or other auto needs. The staff are fantastic. They are honest. They get the work done. It's all about what you need with zero pressure. I've been coming here for oil changes for years but came for some bigger maintenance issues recently and am just blown away by their customer service and work. Prices are reasonable. My husband and mine go-to spot for DMV needs. Lines are much smaller than a local DMV and they move along much faster here. Best part? The employees actually look like they don't hate their lives. I always enter and leave a local DMV emotionally drained. As if I've been attack be dementors (for all you Harry Potter fans!) Getting car registration stuff handled here is just so much easier. Some of their employees even recognize my husband from his visits for car stuff (should I be worried about that? Lol...) We also have AAA membership and have used it plenty of times for towing needs. She focused only on me as though I was the only person in the building. She is a great listening and gave me great details. Their automotive service center is horrible. I called and received a quote. When I arrived to my appointment I was charged extra. I asked if we could speak to Jason who quoted me and made my appointment. They informed he was at lunch. I offered to wait. Instead they called over the supervisor Boni who has ZERO customer service and was nothing but rude- making it known he was in charge and what he says goes. I will be reporting his poor customer service and price manipulation tactics to member services, AAA corporate and his boss. No member should be treated this way. We have been members for years and bring all our vehicles here. We have never had to deal with such horrible customer service. read more

My father and I simply just wanted a quote about adding my brother to his policy. We walked in, and of course there was a wait. Which is completely reasonable. After about 20 minutes Monica K. stepped out to help us. My father likes to banter and start conversation, but she was completely cold and only responded with " Do you want to proceed or not? ". She didn't answer any questions and just had a sour expression the entire time. She has zero customer service skills. I just did not feel comfortable with proceeding, so we just up and left. Been here.like 4 times in the last month. I got into a accident got a car and had it Registered and insurance so I came here. The wait was not that bad way better then the DMV, I tell you that much. As for the insurance it was pretty quick and simple. But like a said I was here just afew days ago because 6 day later I was driving and got hit and it was a total loss again. So I had to go though the whole Process again and register and insure another car. One thing to remember If you're registering to use the cart hat it has to be smog before you can register it. I really hope I don't got to come back here until the my tags are ready to expire. read more

Very friendly and attentive service. I normally go to AAA for auto care but never did any DMV paperwork via AAA. This time I had to use fully my membership and did not regret, otherwise due to the lack of customer care of the DMV institution I could have gotten a ticket if police stop me because my sticker was still the 2018 even if I paid 2 months in advance the renewal fees! DMS is so useless they sent the 2019 sticker to my old address (even though I changed the address 1 month before I moved to new place and got confirmation). Long story short, the incompetency of DMV brought me to AAA who told me what happened (as DMV never ever replies back and I did not want to waste more time) and in 5 minutes and $21 after I got new sticker and friendly smiles. I will try to avoid DMV at any cost all I can and will do all the possible via AAA. They know how to treat customers well. read more

I've been with AAA for a while now. I like them. They simplify things and always has something to offer. A few years back they got into discount services for their members much similar to a Groupon or Amazon. So they evolve. No dinosaur here. Their Road Side Assistance is unpararelled. This location is huge. Parking right in front for their members. It's an easy walk in and out for simple things like requesting for maps. Yes they still carry maps. It's best when you're thinking of moving to a different state. Only thing here is they don't seem to have enough agents. Most of the time it's only two? Although their service to fix some of your car's problem is awesome. You can also walk in and pay for your car registration here as opposed to going to the DMV. I know I'm missing a bunch of other services offered here but I know that if you walk in and ask for a car insurance quote you walk out with a cool gift. A gift that you can actually use. read more

Well, haven't been to a AAA facility in a long time but I needed to take care of some DMV paperwork and instead of fighting the DMV and their staff I opted to try AAA. I dropped in and was greeted instantly by one of the nicest and well-mannered humans I could ask for. Cathy Gelinske was her name and she was engaged and seemed interested in helping me take care of what I needed. She gave me the forms, highlighted what I needed to fill out and told me to get into the member services line when I was done. I filled out the forms and stood in a very short line that went relatively quick. I was waved over by Liz Moreno who was very kind and was also engaged on how she could assist. Liz explained everything to me and the cost and got right to work on the computer. She asked a few questions to make sure I was doing what was best and then proceeded to process my requests, collect payment, print my docs, and send me on my way. Service was spectacular and these folks deserve to be commended for a job well done. Painless and DMV processing usually don't go together. Thank you Cathy and Liz!!
