This had been the worst experience with this company. My jeep was having trouble. I called and got someone to come out to look at it. Membership was good at that time. I called to get towed and not membership is expired. I talk to them about it so then they want to charge and extra $60 because I have to" renew" and had to get my jeep towed. I would give them ZERO stars if allowed. I don't know where to begin with this organization! I have been a AAA member since I'm 16; over 40 years! I always loved being a member and they were always extremely helpful. Now that I'm a resident of Little River area, I'm both dismayed and shocked at this once great business! ONE office in all over the Myrtle Beach area, and the next closest is WILMINGTON, NC! They have ONE tow co they contract with for towing. That's for an area that sees over 20 MILLION tourists every year along 50+ miles of area. And they have ONE tow company????? Try calling the office like I did. I made over 21 calls in a 3 hour time period, only to get disconnected when no one answers or get voice mails with excuses. The only way I got through to them was on a line for BUYING something. Of COURSE they answered that phone line!!!! Then I got more excuses and absolutely zero customer service. How can a company this big ignore such a gigantic market????? After 40 years of being a dedicated member I'll be terminating my useless membership!! Do your own investigating and you'll see 100's of complaints where motorists sat for up to three hrs waiting for a tow or assist. This is the worst location for services by AAA by a long shot! read more

Made two appointments for a trip with my family and my luck I get stuck with this travel agent named Karen Ray. A useless travel agent and liar and phony. Who promise's a client they will get back to them and never does. Took time off of work twice and it has been 2 weeks no return phone calls or emails. She is a terrible person and should be fired. Hire someone who knows what their doing instead of letting her take up space to do nothing!!!!!! I am not done with this yet. I need to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I frequently have trips out of country. I can easily use an online service but I always hear AAA advertise they have professionals who can plan it better, and get better discounts. I decided, since it's not expensive, to buy a membership and give it a shot. I have a trip overseas coming up. It's a complicated trip with many flights and hotel stays. I called this office and set up a phone appointment. They never made the appointment. I called again and was told there was no record of the call. I set up another call and that was missed. I waited a few days and called the front desk and demanded a travel agent. The agent gave me their email so I could send them my two pages of tentative itinerary i came up with, saying they would look at the email Monday and get back to me on a time to plan the trip. No response. No acknowledgment. I replied to my sent email asking if they received it the next day. Only an out of office response. A week later, after multiple emails, I emailed them asking for a refund. I only wanted one service from them, and they ignored me over and over. Go to Priceline or any of the dozens of sites. You'll be done quickly. read more

Why, for 20 years, have I paid for a AAA membership for my wife, my daughters and myself? Simple, because breakdowns almost never happen on a bright sunny day. No, they happen in the middle of the night on desolate roads and I always wanted protection; especially for the women in my family. Today, at 2:50 am, in a rest stop in southern Georgia, the battery in my car decided it had had enough and there I was stranded. I called AAA and was assured help was on the way. An hour later I called and was again assured help was nearly there. Yet another hour later, you guessed it. No tow truck and a customer service person who assured me help was almost there. Finally, I called my own wrecker, who was there in 30 minutes to jump my car. End of the story.....oh no, not even close. At 4:30pm I get a call from the towing company letting me know that they were on the way and could I confirm my location!!!!! The tow guy told me they gave AAA their 2 week notice. He told me this happens to him several times a day with AAA and he is tired of his guys getting yelled at. Told me that he only received the call for my service at 2:30pm 12 hours after my initial call!!! After 20 years I will be cancelling my membership. What good is it??? read more

Don't use this AAA office. Booked trip, paid in full and had to pull teeth to get papers for travel. Names spelled wrong, addresses wrong etc. called to get help in fixing and told no one there to help. Call for apt another day. Received papers day before trip via email. No phone calls returned. Stated she read email but never answered. No customer service at all. Find another office. read more

Don't bother calling with questions. I suspect that they are instructed to tell you what you want to hear to get you to come to their location. (Rather like the bait and switch used car companies use...get you there then tell you that deal is no longer available and here's a more expensive one.) I specifically called and asked whether I would be able to purchase AmEx travelers checks using an AmEx card and was assured more than three times that yes, I could do that. I drove 20 minutes 2 days before a scheduled trip and was told "no, sorry we can't do that" and "I know you didn't talk to me because I'd have never said that." So now I will spend my day making calls to my hotel to see if they will cash other travelers checks or money orders...after I wait last minute due to the time differences. I am FURIOUS!! read more

I made a huge mistake buying a battery from AAA! I don't drive my truck on a regular basis since we have multiple vehicles, but I have always been able to let it sit in the garage; and it would start right up. Ever since I purchased this battery through AAA, my truck has to be jump started every time I want to drive it. A towing service was out just a couple of weeks ago, and jump started my truck. After being here for 30 minutes, he tried to tell me I had left the dome light on? Really??? Seems that would have been immediately noticed as soon as he started my truck! Paying for the convenience of having my battery replaced at home has not been worth the money saved by not buying a quality battery. I will be replacing it, and looking for another roadside service. I was planning on driving my truck on a long trip today, but don't trust it will start once on the road. The battery allegedly has a warranty, but AAA won't honor it because I don't drive this vehicle every day. I was not advised of this stipulation when I bought the battery. So not only is it a shoddy battery, but the selling technique is unethical. read more
