Aloha gang! This morning my car wouldn't start, didn't know the problem, called the wife, she called AAA. She got a mainland number which dispatched a driver to assist us on Hickam JBPHH. "Junior" arrived and please, if you are reading this and are in management directly knowing this service person...recognize him because he is truly an asset to the local companies in Honolulu Hawaii. He was freindly, knowledgeable and well prepared. When all it was, was that my battery needed to be replaced....he checked all my other electronic components and all were good. After he gave us the news that it was the battety, he asked if we wanted to purchase the one he had with him? So saving a tow ride to Toyota and a few hundred dollars and not having to take us to Sears for another battety... He changed it for us, disposed of it, lubed up the connectors and made sure it was secure and properly working before saying good bye. We just want to recognize "Junior" for a job well done, great customer service, awesome company to my wife and son...and an angel sent to help us in need. Thank you Junior, we appreciate you! 1st trip to Italy& France late last year. I needed some guidance and help with reserving flights as well as suggestions to places to visit in Italy. After initially speaking with an agent, who seemed friendly, I gave her my intentions, dates and needs. I didn't got a response, help, booking, anything. Oh, excuse me. I got an email after about a month of trying to call and email the agent trying to get my flights reserved because prices were going up quickly. The agent let me know that she was busy. That's it. Not that she was going to help me?...just that she had been busy. Wow. Tanks ah? So I tried to be patient and responded with a, "No problem, I understand. Had the unpleasant experience of having a car not starting. Called AAA and within 20 minutes, Nick Whited (sp?) was carside. He did a battery test, informed me that my alternator and ignition was good to go but my battery needed replacement. He had us up and running in no time flat! It was my 1st time in the office since I moved here 2 yrs ago to renew my membership & obtain Euro travel info. They were more than helpful, offering several catalogs containing group travel packages to several destination spots for varying lengths of stay. Of course, they also offer hard copies of info for any state in which you're plng travel for free, as well. Related to actual car services, I had them come out twice in the last couple years. The last time, they came with a replacement battery and gave great customer service during a chaotic holiday season. I heart AAA! read more

I've been a member for several years now and have never regretted it. The main reasons why I use AAA is for their towing/trouble call service. One tow and your membership costs has nearly paid for itself. Plus, their tow trucks are always the very well kept and fairly new. With other tow services you don't know what kind of truck you'll be getting. Also, you can ask for whatever type of tow you want. Dolly or even flat bed it if needed. The travel services are excellent and come at no additional cost. Very useful when you're trying to book a complicated vacation package like Disneyland or Universal. Their other services that come at an additional cost like insurance isn't always going to be the cheapest. To me, you've just got to shop around. I don't often give a five star rating but AAA really deserves it. read more

Talk about service. We had to change our membership and auto insurance when we got here and they provided us with an agent who followed through with us until everything was settled. In California, one does not get that kind of service with AAA. I had actually wanted to change our auto insurance to a company which offered personalized service because I was sick of talking to a different person every time, or worse yet, a generic person who just answered the call in the order your call was received. However, AAA Hawaii has renewed my confidence in their service and we're staying with them. read more

I have been a member for the last twelve years, I also pay for six memberships all plus members. The reason I am writing this review is the excellent service I received after a very not so great service from the california call center. I had to wait till the next day to call hawaii location and got help from supervisor Leah Rodrigues. The customer service, caring and professionalism. cannot be be compared when it comes to hawaii, we are truly no ka oi. Leah embodies the true meaning of aloha. This was my VERY first experience with calling AAA. I ignored the signs that my battery was dying and thought I could make a run to the pet store...WRONG! As soon as I turned the key, click-click-buzz. Okaaaay. Dead. My husband has been a loyal customer of AAA, and when we started dating, he signed me on. (One of the reasons why he is a keeper!) So, as we sat in the silent dead car looking at each other, he said, "Call AAA." Oh, yeaaaaah! I called at 5:15pm and was a little nervous because I thought the pet clinic was going to lock up their parking lot at 5:30 when they closed. The dispatcher on the phone was soooo nice and caring, she asked the driver to put a rush on his arrival because I may get locked in. Isaia, the AAA driver, called a few minutes later saying he would arrive in about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, I got a text from AAA saying the driver was on his way. When Isaia arrived, he did a test that showed that my battery was D.E.A.D. I decided to purchase a new battery from AAA and he installed it in no time. As he was installing the battery, I asked questions about the service and the battery and my car and everything and he thoroughly and patiently answered each one with great knowledge. I was impressed! Meanwhile, the dispatcher called to make sure that I was okay because she was concerned that I would be locked in the parking lot. LOVE HER!!! I've been a member of AAA for over 18 years straight! I am happy that I upgraded to Premier the past few year because it comes in handy. My husbands truck broke we had it towed to get repaired, and FREE TOWING, and FREE RENTAL CAR for a day. My car battery died at my house, they came to my house quickly, jump started it AND assessed my battery to be faulty (which was still under warranty) gave me a printout which I took to my dealership and got a new battery. I've had my car towed from the north shore all the way to town before, free of charge. I've locked my keys in the car before, and free locksmith service. I've been in my friends' cars and have broken down, and was able to get free towing even for them, since I was with them. The AAA operators are always nice, and helpful. They sell movie theater discount coupons, too. read more

I have had some great encounters and results from this company. But last night's experience really made me doubt my 6 years of devoted membership. Even though I used their GPS system and give them the details of my location. The person who relayed the information to Sylva's Towing messes up big time. To the point where I was waiting for almost 6 hours! My car broke down in Waianae, luckily for me there was a 7-Eleven that was on my right side right before the car gave out. It gave out right as I entered the parking lot, making me push the vehicle into one of the stalls. I gave a call to AAA @ 9:58am on Saturday November 24, 2018. I notified the person of my location (7-Eleven) and provided the intersection I was closest to (Farrington Highway and Lualualei Homestead Road), I also let them know that if I did not respond to my phone it is because it died so in case of that happening I told them to contact the 7-Eleven I was posted at. The company that was contacted was M Sylvia's Towing LLC. I was given a time estimate of 2 hours, which I was fine waiting for. Sylvia's contacted me and told me that they have someone on the way from town who was assisting a person with a Jump Start. They gave me an estimate of 1.5-2 hours wait, which was once again fine with me. After 1.5 hours, I was contacted once again to be notified of the change of assistance the previous Jump Start required which caused the extension of time. Once again I was fine. That was until the tow truck driver called me and told me that he was at my location, which he was not. I had figured out that AAA gave the towing company the wrong location which caused the driver to arrive somewhere else. At that same moment, my phone died. Hoping that I gave the driver the right address before it got cut off, but unfortunately it did not. I was frantic and decided to purchase a $20 charging cord from 7-Eleven to charge my phone, unfortunately my car battery had died and I could not charge it. I then asked the 7-Eleven personnel if I could use their store phone but was declined, and advised to use the pay phones. All of which were broken. I then asked again and was granted to do so. I called AAA once again to ask if a tow truck was coming and they said that it was cancelled because they could not reach me. I then instructed once again my location, including address and phone number of 7-Eleven. Then as I waited there was a couple that overheard my situation and had a portable charger that they allowed me to purchase for $10 which I did. I then called AAA to let them know that my phone was now charged, and to make a complaint on the issue of having to wait such a long time. They advised me to stay put which I did, received a call from Sylvia dispatch notifying me that someone was on their way. It was not until 4:00am Sunday November 25, 2018 that my tow truck driver arrived. His name was SEFO FATAI, he was extremely nice and professional. I hope that AAA, takes a deep look at my experience and learn from it for I do not want anyone else to have to go through this. I am a member of 6 years, had great experience up until this point. I really wonder if paying for this membership is truly worth it. With all the costs, and how minor all my issues were I believe that I would have saved more money if I did not have AAA. I would highly recommend becoming a AAA member if you haven't yet. I've had to call them twice within 2yrs due to a dying battery. Each time I called , the tech arrived within 15minutes. The techs have been absolutely knowledgeable, courteous and quick. Today, my vehicle couldn't start , it had no power at all. Found out that the battery terminal was loose. He performed a quick check on my battery, alternator and starter. Only thing I had to do was change my battery which was covered under their warranty. What a terrific experience. I was going to have him tow my car to the repair shop but he asked my permission to look at it first. He was able to start my car immediately and I was able to drive it to the shop to get a new battery! My day was not going great. Got a nail in the tire, then changed to the spare but the spare was flat. Had to call AAA for a tow. Pamela in the call center was pleasant to talk with. Then Junior, the tow driver arrived. He was very nice and friendly. You could tell, he was a people person. He made polite conversation on the drive to Lex Brodie's When we arrived, it seemed all the workers knew him too. Made sure to say hi to everyone as well. You need friendly people for towing, because the reason you call them is not for fun reasons, usually it's cuz something is wrong with your car. Having friendly people makes the experience more tolerable. Great job AAA for hiring such friendly people! read more

My Elderly Female Neighbor called AAA last night around 11pm because she locked herself out of her house... The Dispatcher told My Neighbor that someone was on the way... 9am this morning she is knocking on my door asking to use the Phone saying she has been waiting on AAA Since 11pm...This Older Lady had to sleep in her Garage because No One showed up to unlock her house! I'm Very Disgusted in this and wanna know how u all can do this to People especially the Elderly! I was very satisfied with their service but in a blink of an eye.. their 5 star rating went to "0" stars.. I have had triple aaa hawaii for many years . It came in handy when I needed it .. now this year. I feel as if they stiffed me .. I bragged to everybody about how good of service triple aaa was. I even showed a few people how to join.. well here's the situation. In February I ordered triple A for my son in law .. my daughter and a third party .. the total came out to $266 and some change.. much more than I have been paying .. I didn't complain because it was worth it . He never used the service at all .. in April .. I was blessed with a new car which came with 2 years roadside assistance for my whole family . I also had to get full cover insurance . So by my son in law and daughter being on my insurance I switched them to full coverage which also came with roadside assistance. So now we have 3 roadside assistance plans .. Two which were pretty much free . I told son in law to call triple aaa and cancel because I read it can be canceled .. mind me he only had it for 2 months... I paid $266 for it .. he didn't even NOT ONCE use the service .. the total refund was $49 and some change .. it don't get any more conniving than that .. right is right and that was totally wrong .. I'm guessing they charged $217 for the 3 plastic cards they sent out .. I know my little hard worked for money won't make a difference for a million probably billion dollar company but I will never use their service again.. read more

I have had membership for 10 years. Call center is always friendly and helpful. They do prioritize their calls. I was once stuck in a residential neighborhood and the tow truck over two hours to arrive. Most recently I was stuck on the freeway and the tow truck came within 20 minutes. They also offer a or of discounts with their membership you just have to remember to show your membership card at time of purchase. read more

I book all my vacations and car rentals through Sora. She is very knowledgeable and gives great advice. I probably call her once a month. She is very patient and thorough too. AAA always gives good discounts and provides you with extra perks like a free car seat in rental cars, discounted additional ones and great little extras when you go to Disneyland . I have been a AAA member for roughly 45 years, since I first started driving as a resident of California. I have used their towing and battery service perhaps a dozen times and have always had friendly, fast and helpful service. However, last night I had the best experience of my life with them, even though it was a scary situation I found myself in. As I was driving from Ewa Beach to Honolulu, my dashboard lights started to light up and different things just started shutting down one by one. I decided to get as close to home as possible, but my car finally just shut down on the H201 just before the H1 merge. I was able to safely pull to the shoulder with my hazards on, but it was at the end of the evening commute, so traffic was still heavy and I was a little nervous, to say the least. From the minute I called AAA, they were helpful, caring and concerned. I called my husband as well to get a ride home and for emotional support. He arrived within about 10 minutes. During that time, a woman from AAA called to see if I was ok and safe. She also told me that the tow truck was on the way and should arrive within 30 minutes. She was very sincere in her concern for my safety and well being, which helped calm me down a lot. Not more than 5 minutes later, I got a call from the driver of the tow truck, Mike P., who said he was about 2 minutes away and had seen us sitting on the side of the road as he was driving the opposite way on the highway. He was initially going to refuel before coming to pick me up, but when he saw where I was, he opted to pick me up first! He was so kind, respectful and helpful, I immediately felt better about my situation. So overall, it took less than 20 minutes from the time I made my initial phone call for service and Mike P. showing up to save me! Thank you Mike P. for being my roadside guardian angel. Thank you to the lady who called to check on me before Mike got there as well. A quick shout out to the roadside safety officer who stopped to check to see if we were ok as well. GRATEFUL: We suffered an inconvenience this evening, you know, the kind that puts a damper on your plans. Ours came by way of a flat tire. Thankfully a quick call to AAA put us back on the road in no time. The clerk we spoke with over the phone was prompt and helpful. She said someone would be at our location in 15 minutes. Only 7 minutes passed when Mitch showed up with a big smile and a sturdy handshake. He got right to work. He took the time to replace the missing caps on each tire (yes, sadly each tire was missing its cap). He also took the time to tape the metal spare tire holder to keep it from rattling when we drove away. He replaced the flat and gave some helpful advice while he was at it. He wished us well as we left. I guess these guys don't work for tips but I just had to mention him here and what a great job he did. Thanks, Mitch! read more

The first incident was rescueing and towing our truck out of Diamond Head. Today, it was a simple battery change. Their prices are reasonable, if you're a member, and the technicians seem to go above and beyond to make sure you're safely back on the road!! I was taking my brother-in-law to his doctor's appointment yesterday and I stopped to get him a Jamba Juice. When I returned to the car, it wouldn't start. The radio, lights and windows worked but it just wouldn't start. I wasn't sure if it was the battery or the starter. I searched Yelp to find a mobile auto repair person. I tried 6 different companies and no one answered their phone or didn't have voicemail. The only thing I could think of was AAA. Which I was not a member of. I called and spoke to Lei. She said I could sign up same day but there would be a charge. I told her I was ok with that. So she transferred me to sales. I spoke to someone (and I apologize for not remembering her name) and she was fabulous! I told her what happened and she said it wouldn't be an issue to get me signed up. She made it so easy to sign up! And I was really surprised how inexpensive it was for a year's membership! She was so understanding to my situation. So whoever you are at AAA, thank you! You were so helpful! She then transferred me back to Lei in service. Lei was so patient with my babbling. I was just so beside myself because I had my brother-in-law with me. He's mentally/physically disabled. So situations like this can cause him to have an anxiety attack. But AAA was so patient and helpful! That I was able to remain calm. My entire conversation from the beginning to the end was 15 minutes! Not only did I get an AAA membership but they dispatched O'Sung to my location within 20 minutes! I was home in no time. And Lei was so sweet to follow up with me to make sure everything was ok. I told her how truly wonderful she was. That having AAA is definitely one of the smartest things I have signed up for this year! And she told me all the wonderful discounts and benefits there is when you have AAA membership. Rental car discounts, travel and of course roadside assistance! Having this membership gives me piece of mind! And I will never be without them again! read more

I've had a AAA membership for ~6 years. The original intent was to have it, but hopefully not to have to use it. I decided to get some much needed repairs done while on leave, but timing bad due to holidays. Car never made it to when repair shop was available. Down one radiator fan and water pump bearing gave out loosing most of my antifreeze. AAA to the rescue. Checked out the closest Approved Auto Repair shop. Contacted Robert at Roadside Assistance and arranged a tow truck later in the afternoon. Robert was ready to help me with finding a repair shop. Mentioned that I was already going to Masaki's Auto Repair. He did tell me to make sure they know I'm a AAA customer to get a discount. He then asked if I needed a car rental. I mentioned that I already picked one up. A last minute rental in Honolulu during New Years was unfortunately really expensive. Robert mentioned that I should see if the rental company will adjust rate with AAA discount. Very happy for suggestion. Rental company lowered rate to something "acceptable". Thanks AAA Haawaii! It is nice to get great help when you are a little out of your element. Forgot to mention that the AAA Tow Truck contractor, Sylva's Towing, did a great job. The driver called half an hour before arriving. He was very friendly and helpful with moving my car to where it could be hooked up. My car may be older, but he carefully hooked it up and got it to the repair shop. I just received the follow-up survey from AAA's survey company today. I felt a little bad about not being able to give the number of minutes from service call to tow help because I called in the morning for a tow later in the afternoon. Not a fair assessment that tow took 3 hours. Service was completed on time from when I had it scheduled. read more

My friend spoke to Cat in regards to getting a triple A service to Kewalo Basin. The company quoted a 45 minute wait. AND ITS BEEN AN HOUR. My question to the company would be WHY DOES THE COMPANY NOT STAND BY THEIR (or technician Toby's) QUOTED ETA TIME? Now, I could understand if a technician had difficulties along the way (for example car troubles or an extended appointment to a previous customer), BUT THAN WHY WOULD THE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE NOT CALL TO ALERT THE CUSTOMER OF THE CIRCUMSTANCE? When I spoke to Cat, she stated that the technician was on Kapiolani... Now on a Saturday around 5:30pm (September 03r It's a shame when customer rely on triple A's service but the customer service just simply sucks. MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO DO A QUALITY CONTROL. Did not appreciate the long wait and no courteous call ungraded to technicians location "if" AND WHEN it is past the quoted ETA. I will be addressing this situation to the headquarters.. One star because the service they provide on the car is great and another star because the technicians are knowledgeable on car servicing. read more

They give you 9 options first, and then when you choose one of those, you get 4 options. Still no person. Then they tell you all reps are busy and put you on hold. No surprise here, AAA Hawaii still has the worst web site I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. No one else's web site holds a candle to AAA Hawaii - it is far and away more frustrating and useless than any other I have encountered. I was trying to renew my membership, but the mobile site has a login button that leads... nowhere. There is no place to enter your name or your password. I tried several times to switch to the desktop site, but it always switches back to the utterly useless mobile site. I tried the app, but it does not serve Hawaii AAA and when you search for Hawaii AAA you get... their useless mobile site. They need to fire their webmaster, spend a few $ and get a professional to redesign their site. The really sad part is that I've been pretty happy with their towing, roadside services, etc. read more

The lady who helped me to get my IDP seemed nice and helpful. The service was fast. Though I feel like she wasn't really listening to me. After my IDP, she asked me if I wanted to open up a credit card account no annual fees, blah blah blah and I get a picnic bag just seeing if I get approved. I had asked her "if it's free and i don't have to pay anything then sure but are the apr rates high and I dont have to use it?" She said yeah look and I thought she was going to show me something on the iPad but no she looked down and I saw she jotted down my information so fast. I'm like ok... "so I asked her again so I dont have to use it? "Like it can just be a credit card but I dont touch it and I dont have to pay anything? because I'm not gonna use it" She said no if I'm not using it, I don't have to pay anything.. no annual fees. I really didn't want the card, but she had already started on it before I even could clear my questions out. The first "sure" had already got her started. Like what? I wasnt even done asking questions. THEN, when I got approved, she only showed me how much I got approved for. She assumed I was gonna use that card to pay for my IDP. she even tried to have me buy something for $1 , it'd be a good deal if I were paying in cash. But no she assumed I was going to pay with the card so she didn't even ask what form of payment. It's a good thing I stopped her before doing so when she gave me my cash back. I was confused at first and had to ask her if she's using that credit card to pay for everything she said yeah. I told her I just told you I don't wasn't going to use that card. I HAD to ask her what's the apr rate and she told me 23.99APR and I'm like NOO That's toooo high .. I was so pissed. She was going to screw me over after she knew I wasnt gonna use the card. I told her I already finished paying off my debts and my student loans and she tryna screw me over again. I told her I'm moving out of country and I didnt want any ties back home. Especially debts. I think it's so messed up. She hears me talking but she wasn't really listening. 37-38 dollars on a 23.99 or was it 24.99 apr rate? Even paying $1 for one of the products which LOOKS like a good deal, really ain't. I smiled and left but I was super annoyed and a little pissed off. I got stuck at Haunama Bay on Oahu and I locked my cellphone in my car so I couldn't call them myself. I had to call them from an office phone but I couldn't get any AAA messages since AAA is meant for cellphone use and not landlines (I didn't know that). I was in the office expecting to get calls that never came, and they were at my car without me even knowing. I called them again and they said the tow truck came and left and I lost my temper; I told them I would give them 1 star, but I didn't really mean it in that way. I feel bad about how rude I was, and I was willing to wait again patiently this time; they came soon after. I wish they would have went to the office to look for me during the first trip but then again I probably should have been at my car to begin with. The tow truck driver was very nice and AAA was very helpful despite my attitude. read more

When I moved to Hawaii, friends and family thought I was crazy to continue my AAA service...I had never used it on the mainland, so why keep paying for a service you don't use on an island?? Needless to say...AAA has saved me more than once. Fast, excellent service, with guys like Junior who pull in with their truck and instantly know how to handle the situation! We also have AAA Hawaii Car Insurance...we like having an agent that knows Hawaii, lives in Hawaii and we can stop in at anytime they are open!! The claims adjuster, Mike, has shown incredible aloha when dealing with us...even going the extra mile to the location to watch the flow of traffic to determine "at fault or not"...within minutes of my phone call. Fair and honest service...not many people expect to see those words associated with an insurance company! I am happy to report that we have found such a company! Dreading a hassle getting help with my battery, I was pleasantly surprised by cheerful and friendly Paana today. She was so quick and efficient. Even told me to come back in 20 to 25 minutes while she installed a new battery, thus allowing me to have a lunch, as this was my lunch break. AAA travel Hawaii is where I go for all my travel arrangements. Best advice is find a great travel agent and stick with him/her. You get more personalized service and the agent becomes familiar with the types of activities and accomodations that you prefer. My agent knows me well and books my travel based on the types of hotels/rental cars I like, activities and possible side trips I might want to make while I am on my trip. Your agent should be great on follow thru (confirming reservations, possible issues, unavailability of a particular amenity you wanted, or travel date changes that might create savings). She calls me when there are deals that come up, that aren't even on the internet sites yet, for places that I have told her I would like to visit at some point in time... so there you have it.
