I went there on time crunch for full body wax. the owner was so warm and the services provided were so good. i'll definitely recommend this place. read more

Came here for eyebrow threading today as a walk-in at 1:20 pm on a Sunday, and there was one other lady getting a haircut, so I had to wait 10 minutes until my turn, which wasn't too bad. The location was a bit hard for me to find at first, because there isn't a large sign overhead, but it's in the same strip mall as The Big Chef, to the right of the Wendy's on Algonquin. The AA Salon & Spa sign is quite small and posted in the window, but you can see it in the parking lot. I think it is the second to the right-most establishment in this strip mall. I don't think the lady that works here specializes in eyebrow threading, as she was a little bit slower than some other people I've been to. But she was meticulous and careful, and I was quite pleased with the end result. My brows had a nice, natural shape, were cleaned up, and did not look too thin. $7 for eyebrow threading was a good price, so I will probably be coming back to get my brows done here, as the location is convenient for me, and there is plenty of parking in the private parking lot. Not sure if she also does lip threading or full face threading, as those services weren't listed in the handwritten sign in the window, but I'll have to ask about it next time I'm there. read more

Dis....gus....ting I had an appointment for 11:00. Nobody was there to open up until 11:20. The woman unlocked the door and went to the back to put on a dirty apron. Every surface looked super dirty and gross. I held my purse in my lap because I didn't want it to get dirty. The price was great, but a bleach wipe down doesn't cost much. read more

It look like, as soon as as they see the Groupon deals.. they dont care. If this place wnats to survive.. they better get their business mannerisms in order. I truely wonder who Pat is? Lets keep it it at this. Now a days business opportunities are in every corner. If they dont get to be professionals ,,, they wont survive read more

Came here twice for waxing. The first time was painful and awful. I try to support local businesses and wanted to give them another chance. Complete waste of money and time. Now I must shave my legs as I have no time to go somewhere else. A majority of my leg hair is still visible. Even the owner said it was a waste but did she tell me that before my appointment? Nope. Ugh, so frustrating. read more

Do not recommend. Terrible service. The owner is very disorganized: first time we came on appointment she overbooked and we had to wait for 1.5 hour just to get in the chair! Second time she did not even had master in. She cancelled us when we came in and waited for 15 minutes! The salon is dirty and outdated. Don't waste your money. It is cheap, but not worth it read more

My daughter got her eyebrows waxed from this place in the past many times from Amber, and it was perfect. But this time a new person waxed it since Amber was not there and this is what my daughter ended with, her skin is ripped off and it burned a lot. read more

I found this salon on Groupon and went in for eyelash extensions. The place was dirty, which should have been my first red flag, and my whole experience was terrible. First, I was also horrified with the look and feel of the extensions. They were the cheap plastic kind and the woman had used cheap glue (that was clumpy after it dried) to glue them onto my lashes. I later learned that she glued each fake lash to multiple real lashes, which my new tech said is an absolute no-no. The woman also left the room for a phone call and then to take another client's payment. This place should be shut down. read more

This place is dirty and unsanitized. The lady who did my mani/pedi is nice. They only had one person doing it. Oh my goodness my experience was terrible. Like another yelper stated there wasn't any sanitizer of the tools. For a nail tech that has 9 years on her belt sure takes a long time to do a mani pedi. It looks like she was shaking when applying the polish. It looks like my daughter could have done the job. There wasn't much colors to choose from. The nail tech had put some foot creme on my calves and I didn't get a massage. The creme made my skin dry and I didn't think it was supposed to go on my calves. I mean it says foot creme for a reason, supposed to go on my feet. On top of that, it made my legs itch. Thank goodness it was a groupon. It was a good idea that I left my kids at home!! It was so filthy dusty! I don't know where to begin when it came to my manicure. Just a sloppy job altogether. Polish was everywhere. Cuticles were not cut. Tools came out of a pouch that had dust all over the place. I am sorry but I won't be coming back to this place for any other service maybe just for threading. $7 not bad for threading. $8 for waxing. read more

It is easy to miss this salon, tucked away at the corner of Higgins and Roselle, near the Papa John's Pizza. The price for threading is really low and Anila did a great job with my eyebrows. A basic haircut was 20$, and it shaped up pretty good too. Its spacious and clean, and both ladies seem very popular among the customers. very polite and non-interfering, unlike some other salons where the beautician will try to chat you up and be overfamiliar. They do bridal makeup, party and prom makeup, mehendi, hair color, the works. They are open till 7 PM on weekdays which is very convenient for those who are working. I also saw some men coming for haircuts and they seemed very happy with the end result. I, for one, am definitely going back! read more

You get what you paid for... The nail job was decent. The nail girl was really nice. Zero star for sanitation. There was not one glass of that blue liquid to sanitize the nail tools. This is not a spa like treatment, no massage or fancy lotions here. I was too nice to say please don't pay attention to my cuticles because I didn't want her to use the cutting tools on me. The reason I know the tools are not sanitized is because after using it on me, she slightly wiped it on the dirty towel she used on me and put it back in her tool holder. The place is just not clean. Upon entry, no greeting, on the waiting area with 3-4 chairs, there's a bunch of garbage on the ledge. Their private massage or treatment rooms were of a caliber of a home type setting. Definitely no luxury or any attention to details. There's Hindi music blasting. Very sub par quality salon equipment. The bathroom appeared cleaner than the rest of the salon. Yikes. Oy vey! The selection of nail color is about 30 different nail polish bottles. Less than 10 of them were OPI, the rest are the cheap and generic selection. Next time, I'll pay full price at another nail salon. I paid $22 on groupon and I got it's worth. POSITIVE: a couple of the girls who came there were there for threading and I heard comments like "you're so good!" Maybe this place is good for eyebrow threading(???) read more

I keep coming back to this salon for waxing, the service is fast and efficient. I do call before to see if they can get me in just in case, they always say yes even if it's last minute which I think is life saving! The staff is very friendly, I totally recommend this salon. They will provide the service and you will be out in a jiffy! I will for sure come back. read more

I went there for laser and only wanted Brazilian area, but she said it would be better if you do full body and she'll give me discount. I ended up doing full body. After 2 lasers I could tell the difference and I kept going. I did full body 9 sessions, armpit hair and leg hair stopped growing after the 3rd/4th session. She mentioned that some area might take longer and might need more sessions than other parts. So I just wanted to continue doing Brazilian are since other body parts seemed fine. But once I completely stopped after 9th session my body got very hairy and it started going very thick. I did not have that much hair to begin with. I also did my face and very thick hair started going. This is not the place to get laser done. Not only you'll waste your money, but it will ruin your body. read more

Terrible! I came in with a Groupon....probably the biggest mistake I've made in a long time... The salon is not clean, up to date, or even comfortable on the inside. I explained to the hair dresser that I bought the Groupon for a full set of highlights, a deep conditioning treatment and a hair cut. I also would like my eyebrows done. We started with the brows, I have been getting my brows threaded for a long time and this was the most painful and long process I have ever had. She kept going back over spots and even scratched me across my nose. This made me kind of uneasy. As she was about to start highlighting my hair another customer walked in (I'm assuming a regular) she stopped working with me and cut this other persons hair. Then she came back to me. She was half paying attention to what she was doing because she was also watching the show that was on Tv. I should have just stopped her there. After the foils were placed I sat under the dryer for 25 minutes. I had to ask her to check because I have highlights already and I didn't want to over process my hair. She ignored me. I asked again she checked and said I needed more time. I asked her to check again 5 minutes later. She ignored me and took someone else into the wax room. Another 10 minutes later I checked for myself. I told her it was time she ignored me. I told another person working that I wanted the foils out. She ignored me. So after a total of 45 minutes I finally got my hair rinsed and sure enough my hair is mush and falling out. So thanks to this salon my hair is fried and I've lost a ton of hair. I feel like an idiot for not trusting my instincts. SO PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! Also sorry for the very long review. read more

Definitely unsanotized and no professional ethics. Even though you put your name on the list and wait for 20-40 minutes, if a regular customer walks in, they attend them first. Everything around is dirty and unkept. I have to always show them the areas they leave out on my eyebrows, they dont do a clean job. I would never go there again and don't recommend anyone either. Stay away! read more

For the past year, I've come to this place and I've always been satisfied with how my eyebrows come out. After a botched eyebrow threading at another salon, I've made it a habit to always tell them "not too thin please," and because of that I've never had an issue at AA Salon and Spa with my eyebrows. Until today. I came in to see a new girl working there and I told her the same thing I do to the normal girl who does my eyebrows. She was nice but on the slower side. But the worst part is that, of course, my eyebrows are way too thin. Not only are they thin, the right eyebrow looks like it has a dent in it. So I might be more careful the next time I need to go get my eyebrows done. But having gone to this place for as long as I have, this is only the first time I've come out completely unsatisfied with my eyebrows. read more

Can't beat the price for eyebrow threading, and it was very skilled and quick. I had a lot of extra hairs going on and the woman cleaned them all up and gave my eyebrows a nice shape. I might not have liked that had I had any specific eyebrow shape to retain, but I was alright going in with no expectations, and my eyebrows feel 10 lbs lighter now. read more

I used a groupon here for a cut, color, partial highlights and deep conditioning treatment. The gal who took care of me was nice and did a very good job. While there, I also got my eyebrows threaded & that also went well. It was my first time getting my eyebrows threaded and I am so glad I did. I was very happy with my cut, color & hair treatment as well as my eyebrows. I appreciate their longer hours as i work locally and I will definitely go here again. read more

I've called the salon twice trying to book an appointment, and finally someone answered the third time I called. Once I went for my appointment, the staff was friendly. I got a full body wax, and she tried to make it painless and quickly as possible. She was very nice. However she was the only one in the salon, so when clients would wax in she would leave to go attend them even though I had my appointment scheduled. She left 4 times to go attend clients while I was getting a full body wax. I'm satisfied with the overall finish once she was done. Now I'm a regular client, and she still gives me the Groupon price. read more

Groupon time! Another try thanks to good ol Groupon. This place is not the most cleanly, up to date, warm business I usually would go to but it wasn't the worst. The prices are cheap, my eyebrows looked clean and it wasn't busy. However.... I felt like my face was on fire and the threader was much to aggressive. This place is closer to my house so would be great for in case of an emergency situation. read more

Went in for a Brazilian and had a fantastic experience. These reviews are nuts! The place was clean and sanitary. Maybe not state of the art rooms but the room I was in was private and I felt very comfortable. Getting Brazilians is a very awkward to begin with but I felt very at ease. Hurt like heck but that's not their fault. A little late in opening for a Saturday morning but no biggie, I was in no rush. I definitely recommend this place. I will be returning for future services. read more

Overall experience was awkward. The first time I came in, the nail tech seemed completely out of it and told me she wasn't feeling well. She asked if I would reschedule with her. I came back about 2 weeks later. I arrived at about 11:55 for an appointment at noon, the salon was still closed. At noon, I texted the number (i bought a groupon) andasked if we were still on. She responded and arrived about 5 minutes later. Once we started the mani pedi, she asked me if I spoke english fluently and then asked my religious beliefs. She then told me she thought she was dying. I asked why thinking she was fighting the same illness as she was 2 weeks earlier. She then said she had od'ed on tablets 2 years ago and felt like she was dying. All of this was said in a serious tone. We didn't talk for a good 20 minutes then she asked me how my christmas was. I felt bad because she clearly needed help. She was surprised that I tipped her. She was nice but it was super weird. The place was nothing great, the water was cold, the chair did not massage, there were minimal colors to choose from, the song that was playing was on repeat. read more

I use to think that this was a inexpensive way to keep my eyebrows well manicure, but the last couple of times that I have gone there, I have come away dissatisfied, the girl that did my brows had powder in my ears, left my eyebrows uneven and just a mess. However because of the mess she made the owner made up for it, so I think I will try it again , but not with the same person only with the owner. Please tell them to shape your eyebrows, or to just clean them up. Just my comment read more

I purchased a Groupon for 2 microdermabrasion treatments. I was very happy with my service and extremely satisfied with my results. I have been to literally six different salons for laser hair removal in the past year (back, face, chest, one go round of six sessions, and now a second round, all groupons . . . I refuse to pay full price). For a full chest, the price was fantastic. Few groupons say they will do a full chest. Usually they split it into top and bottom. When I saw that this one did full chest I signed up. You pay for someone to use that laser on you and you hope it kills the hair follicles. Well I can say with complete confidence that this place has the best laser and they go back and forth over the area so many times you know you're getting your money's worth. This one tops the best one I had for the first three laser locations I went to. I swear, when she goes over my chest it's like a Star Wars battle scene with the blips of light and the sounds. Couldnt be more impressed with the results. So, guys, I've done the leg work already. Between price and effectiveness, this place is about as good as it gets. Wish I tried this place during my first go round. Heck, before you commit to the groupon, give em a call and ask for a one-session groupon pro-rated price and find out for yourself. read more

I just waited 40 mins outside this place in order to get my eyebrows done..this after the sign on the door clearly says open from 11am-7pm. I got there at 12 pm, called the owner twice. She didn't pick up. I stayed for 40 mins in which I saw other customers come and go. While the service they offer is alright, they need to realize the importance of other peoples' time. If you say you're open at 11 am, be open at 11 am. Don't put up a sign that you cannot honor. Also, this isn't the first time this has happened. This is no way to treat customers. I know I'm not going back. read more

Was my first time here and I came back- the owner gave me the Groupon price. Nice full body wax. Very nice friendly staff.

BEWARE OF THIS SALON. I had a Groupon certificate for a $26 Manicure/Pedicure. This place is a hair salon mainly with a tiny manicure table and 1 chair for a Pedicure. I got there and the lady who does the nail stuff was not there, they had to call her, which would be fine, however when I asked where the polishes were to pick a color, they only had about 4 OPI color and very ODD colors and they were almost empy and looked dryed out. I asked if they had more and they said to check inside this shoe box (in side were all leftovers of Avon and Sally Hansen polishes) about 10 maybe. I picked red, it was the only decent color. Then the woman came, the whole time she talked to her self and kept looking at me very oddly saying I am sorry, I am sorry. She was making strange noises also. I thought she was talking to me and she said no she was talking to Jesus (which is fine when you are maybe by yourself) I was getting extremely uncomfortable, then doing my manicure she kept apologizing for touching my hands (REALLY) I know this all sounds like I am making it up but I am not. This was one very wierd experience!! I usually have no problem with Groupon purchases, BUT I think Groupon better research this Salon before doing this special again. If you do decide to use teh Groupon bring your own color and be ready for some wierd stuff going on with the nail person. read more

I seriously can't understand the negative reviews. This is a wonderful salon, with excellent services. The ladies that work here are extremely nice and talented. Their service is awesome :). I would definitely highly recommend them. I have been using their service since 4 years and not even a single time they have given me chance to complain. They are professional, very nice people and they are expert in their job. They do all kind of service (Bridal, Haircut, Eyebrow, manicure, pedicure etc etc....) and no one can beat their prices, they are way too cheap and very high quality in their services. AA Salon is the best!!! They really care about their customers and definitely I would highly recommend this salon.

I go to this place to get my eyebrows done and my haircut. Amber is very patient and excellent at eyebrow threading. I have been to numerous places to get my hair cut and blow drys, but most of the time I am not satisfied, however, this place is excellent. I always get my hair blow dried by Amber and whenever I go anywhere I always get compliments for my hairstyle. People always compliment me on my eyebrow shape and ask WHERE I go to get them designed due to which I have recommended people at my work and friends to come to AA salon and get Amber to do their eyebrows. All three ladies Anila , Amber and Henna are sweet and very customer orientated and take very good care of their customers. I have seen them deal with difficult customers very patiently, politely and with a smile... They truly provide customer service to their clients. Even though they close at 7pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekend I have seen these ladies stay extra time to attend to their clients who show up 5 mins before closing, and attend to them very professionally and politely with great attitude. They are definitely not like the gossipy or nosy beauticians or hair stylist you find at other places. They do bridal/ proms/ party make up and hair dos. These ladies get my thumbs up for sure !!! Also there is ample parking for their customers. read more

HORRIBLE. I went in because I was familiar with the place prior to this salon. I wanted to see who the new owners were. They were not busy I figured I'd give it a try. My hair is terrible. First she didn't wash it, just sprayed it with a bottle, cut it and blow dried it and it cost be 40 bucks. When I got up and looked in the sink, I found out why my hair wasn't washed. The sink was disgusting. I ran home and showered! Gross. The bottom of my hair is so uneven, she said she was going to make it a 'u' shaped, it looked like a 'w'. I ran out to hair cuttery for an even trim on the bottom. The place is gross, I should have read some of the reviews but it was so spur of the moment that I went in there. Its DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY. read more

Had a groupon for one spa mani-pedi for AA Salon & Spa. It was given to me as a gift from my son. Called the shop to make an appointment and mention the groupon. They told me the girl that offered the groupon no longer worked there. I complained to the person on the phone that it was through the shop and it should be honored since it was not expired and no persons name was listed who was providing the service. After a long discussion, I was told they could do the pedicure and not the manicure. An appointment was made for Friday @ 2:30 and I asked for a name and was given the name Panar (not sure if that was who I spoke with or if it is spelled correctly). I drove 45 minutes to make it at exactly 2:30, only to be told they would not honor the groupon. The had no idea who I talked to so they called the owner (Panar) and had me speak with her directly. She would not honor the groupon or offer anything to resolve the issue. The shop was empty and there were 2 women doing nothing. I did tell the owner I would write poor reviews for the shop but she did not seem to care. It probably was a blessing because I agree with several of the other reviews, the shop was very dirty and had a bad odor. BEWARE OF THIS SCAM. read more
