Five star rating... but this place deserves 10 stars!…read more Truly exceptional establishment in its cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and grounds, outstanding and such friendly staff and overall beautiful & peaceful environment. As frequent travelers from Seattle area to Canada for our daughters hockey games, we look forward to staying at Cedars RV Resort and will continue the tradition we've started. Just an extremely well-run operation and we're so happy we discovered this place with such wonderful people. One time the door on our travel trailer somehow wasn't properly secured when we left it... so during a breezy rainstorm while we were not there, the door physically opened. Scott, Cedars maintenance manager, was first to notice the problem and shut the door, but it could not be locked without the key, so Yvette, operations manager, was so kind to call me to make me aware of the situation, out of concern that the door might open on its own again and our camper might be subjected to water damage. Yvette went out of her way to let me know what happened in case I wanted to lock the door, and I thought this really speaks to the high level of customer care at Cedars. With all of her other responsibilities as manager of operations at Cedars, this kind of concern by Yvette and her staff for those at the property was really wonderful, and points to why Cedars is such a beautiful, well-maintained and popular vacation spot. Yvette, you and your staff rock!

Not allowed in the showers, as their 90yr old park spy didn't like "The looks" of my wife and son. We filled a small dog pool for the pooches on the hot days and no sooner had we started filling it (Less than 35 gallons) we were told no pools. They said this was posted at the office. Keep in mind this is the office that is always locked and unattended and everything from checkout to check in is done by messages and email. We, and I assume others as well, are followed and spied on. If you stay, keep your head on a swivel and your eyes open as you are watched. The owners and management are rude and snotty. We were scheduled to stay for many months but after less than three weeks we are packing up and leaving. Gate is always open so security is also a risk here. Most other tenants are great. The others have nothing but time to fill and axes to grind. Typical off site owners who run this by keyboard and shitty management. We just finished our latest tour of the states and stayed at a little over 100 koa and private campgrounds this go around and loved all of them!! Except this one. DO NOT STAY HERE! There are tons of vacancies at way nicer parks for same $$$ or cheaper. We give this park a big fat double thumbs down with a raspberry on top.

She mowed every single site in the park but mine. I had to pay to have someone mow for us since we both are on disability. She could care less. Our site is muddy. I cannot park and load without getting in the mud. Law says has to be hard surface for drive and 3 in minimum of gravel under site and on site. My sewer that has to be dealt with every couple weeks we have 2 x 4 to prevent getting in mud when you open and close she calls junk. Every time I ask her for something she threatens me and makes my stay miserable. We have been here 11 yrs. We are not campers so only the monthly people have a clue what I'm talking about with the landlords and their never ending harassment to try and make this an RV park under RV rules when she has many mobiles and permanent people in here that she and us are bound by landlord tenant laws for mobiles. We keep our site nice, we pay our rent on time and have never in all the 11 years missed a month. I had a dispute recently with my electric bill twice the normal it has ever been. She ignored it and said it will go down in summer but yet we have no new appliances or heaters or anything that runs high watts. We have had more than one short in the electric here and twice on our plugs fixed by the landlord not an electrician. But to go from $80 at highest ever to $158 for 1 month with no new anything means it has short or someone plugged into my site, She claims all the people here are happy but me but most are just afraid to face her. She is a rich Asian who has e or 4 houses to live in plys a halfmillion dollar rv to travel in. She does not know what permanent living in 300 sq ft does to you and my only fun is a little gardening but she wants me to quit that or buy expensive pots that all match so i look good to her. there failure to deal with real problems results in here telling us to leave. If i could afford to I would but we are skirted, have 110 appliances and cannot live self contained any longer. Also whoever asked gets fences but not us so i have to deal with other dogs using our yard for their poop jobs. the people that are happy do not have to stay here year round and she is done some really mean things to other tenants that gave up and moved. I dont know where people have been living to think that mowing and cleaning bathrooms is out of the normal. We have lived in parks for 22 yrs and all were nice and quiet and mowed and clean so that is not a rating for a full time tenant and certainly not what we put up with. Please come in and talk to some of the long term people. I can give you names. also to make our life hell over our plants in pots rather than the ground is just wrong. I just paid to have a brick wall made to put my main pots behind and our site looks nice. If there were conformity to the park it would be different but some have many things built onto and around their units and nothing is alike so how do make someone conform to nonconformity? So she has singled me out and i am fed up with it. I told her to sue me and lets let the courts tell her what the law says but she just continues to harass me. What she calls junk is all the life we have. rich people !!

Some RV sites are on concrete pads with concrete patios (no grass), some are concrete pads with grass lawns, and some are grass lots. This KOA also has a swimming pool, a very well kept mini golf (those of you who camp a lot know how rare this is), huge play ground for the kids, two ponds with ducks, frogs and fish (fishing limit of 3 per camper), paddle boats, Friday night movies on the sloped lawn, bingo, ladder ball... too much to list! The grounds are immaculate and the large staff works to keep it that way. They have a well stocked store (hours 9-9) and a separate "Den" for coffee, ice cream, and arcade games. The laundry room is unrivaled and the bathrooms/showers are the envy of most RV parks. The park only has propane filling during certain hours BUT they will fill and deliver your LP tank to your site!!!!! Seriously, who does that?! The service at this KOA is reminiscent of the 1950s, when one could expect spectacular service for a nominal cost. I only have two wishes: 1. I wish I had more vacation time at work! 2. I wish I had visited sooner! Treat yourself. Make your reservations and enjoy this gem. :)

The issue lies with the campground manager Teniah. On multiple occasions, I've witnessed her being openly hostile toward her coworkers, using profanity, and behaving in an extremely unprofessional manner. Earlier this summer during a weekend stay i overheard her lashing out at a sweet office worker over small things simply because she was "overwhelmed". While doing laundry, I even heard her swearing about customers, which is unacceptable in a role meant to assist and welcome guests. On this most recent trip things wereworse. Teniah was extremely aggressive toward my young grandchildren when they came in to buy candy, again because she was overwhelmed and couldn't handle the situation professionally. Then another office worker Hailey, disappeared into the bathroom near the office for an extended period, coughing heavily and clearly under the influence of marijuana. My granddaughter and her friends even saw her smoking a weed vape in the bathroom, which is completely unacceptable in a family-friendly campground. Guests pay hundreds of dollars to stay here and should not have to deal with this kind of unprofessional and inappropriate behavior. Aside from these two staff members, the rest of the team was amazing, and the campground itself is fantastic. Unfortunately, because of Teniah's hostility and Hailey's inappropriate actions, i no longer feel comfortable bringing my family here. After years of visiting this KOA, it's heartbreaking to say I won't be returning.

At the State Park's West Beach area, you can be strolling on a sandy/rocky saltwater beach and then literally 1 minute later, you can be swimming (or fishing) in a freshwater lake. It's the weirdest, coolest thing! We saw seals, Bald Eagles, Merganzers, and an 800-year-old Douglas Fir tree on a single short hike here. We're hoping to see the beavers they say like to live in Cranberry Lake one of these days, but they've been elusive so far. The State Park has campsites, but it's more for rustic camping, not a great RV park. There are two small towns (Anacortes and Oak Harbor) 10 miles away that offer shopping (Safeway, Walmart, Home Depot, fast food, etc.), but it still feels rural. There's a marina down the road a little way, and there are whale-watching boat tours nearby. This RV park is well-kept and tidy. I saw someone on some review or other complaining (and that and a couple other petty complaints are what inspired me to write ~this~ review, as I don't write many of them, and this is my first on Yelp) about the park's brown grass, and I had to laugh. Did they not know grass doesn't stay green in the height of summer--especially during a drought? If that's all they had to complain about with this place, I'd say they're doing pretty well. LOL The bathrooms are clean, there's a fenced dog park, and they sell propane, firewood, and ice at the office. The office staff are very friendly and welcoming, too. They meet visitors outside with clipboards in hand when it's busy, so that drivers don't even need to step outside their rigs. Most of the spaces aren't huge, but from what I could see, there's only one very small area where they're a little squished, in this area that's at the center of a wheel shape, where the spaces are the wheel's spokes, but it's not like you're on top of each other, and it's not a big deal IMHO. There aren't that many trees, but I'd rather not have any around my rig, actually, and it stays blessedly cool here even in summer, so lack of shade really isn't an issue anyway. The park has a large gazebo and a small club house space that groups can reserve. And it's right across the street from where the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail crosses through. A 15 minute hike into the forest along that trail made me feel like I was in Middle Earth. So beautiful! We haven't fished in years, but we saw people fishing in the fresh-water lakes. One's a 5 minute walk away. And there are tide pools in the State Park, too, though that's a couple miles from the RV park, and not a place I want to walk to, as the main road that runs up and down Whidbey Island, State Road 20, can be pretty busy and narrow in that section. But in 5 minutes you can also walk out of the park, cross that road (there's a light with a crosswalk signal) and be in the State Park on a beautiful trail beside a lake with huge trees towering overhead and with the noise of the road forgotten. The Cranberry Lake trail leads you parallel to the lake and through the forest down to West Beach and a dune nature trail with interpretive signage. It's about a 3.8 mile walk round trip, and at the half-way point, there's a State Park camp store where you can get a drink and snack in summer and take a rest. I must say, though, that my favorite time to visit this place is in winter (We love it there so much that we've been there in all four seasons!). There's something so atmospheric about the gray cloud cover and the fog and the wildness of the sea. The hikes are just gorgeous then. There's just something about it, and I love it. If you run out of things to do nearby (HA!), you can take a short drive to visit the truly-charming towns of Langley, Coupeville (where "Practical Magic" was filmed), Mt. Vernon, or LaConner. There's a GREAT food co-op in Mt. Vernon that has amazing produce and gifts and a hot-food deli. It's like a mini Whole Foods. In any of these little towns, you can get an ice cream cone and stroll down old-fashioned downtown areas and window shop and people-watch. And in Langley, you may even spot a whale! The one bad thing I can say about this park is that there's sometimes noise from the navy jets that fly out of NAS Whidbey, which is maybe 5 miles away. That can get pretty loud during some weekdays, but the weekends are almost always no-fly times, and they have free earplugs in the office, if you need them to sleep. I just wore my noise canceling earphones and I was fine. There's also some noise from the two-lane road nearby, especially at rush hours or on busy summer weekends. But when visiting a beautiful place like this, who hangs out in their RV all the time anyway? Anyway...If you can't tell, I really love this place. It's definitely a well-deserved 5-star rating from us.

TL:DR - Don't stay here…read more... Nothing to say in this review that has not been said before - this is just not what we have come to expect from 2 years of TT travels along the Oregon and Washingtion coast. After receiving our assigned spot in the south section, a review of the 21 rules that we had to follow, which included "Do not dye your hair in the bathroom", we were informed to wait 15 minutes at the gate as it was 11:45 and check-in was 12:00. The front desk staff is neither warm nor welcoming. Will not state again. that the sites are small and Phase 1 has a ridiculous lay out, but it is all true. We traveled to our spot, it was not going to work - our dining room slide was 2 feet from our neighbor and we heard all of their conversations. My husband called up front, requesting a move, noted entire empty sections not stacked on top of each other and was informed those were reserved for Retail Customers. Well, that is something new to us. She was finally able to offer us some options, we moved to one of the spaces and settled in for a few nights. The next day, after noting in the TT pamphlet handed us along with the 21 Rules, that the laundry closed at 8:00 pm, we moved some laundry into the dryer at 6, went to get a bite, ended up being later then planned, arrived back to the grounds to find the laundry room, which has a coded keypad lock, dead bolted and could not access our clean laundry. Oh and the sign at the door actually has the laundry closing at 7 pm. Just ridiculous. why have a key coded lock and a dead bolt? Needless to say we left early, this was just not the welcoming space we are accustomed to at a TT resort. Moving down the coast to Oceana in Ocean Shores was the perfect option and glad this resort was able to accomodate our day early arrival with a welcoming smile and a map to pick out our space.
