My soul needed some refreshment, and a getaway not too far from home, but definitely near salt water... and I found this satisfactory place. People who don't mind kids and dogs will like it best, because there are plenty of both. They were not obnoxious, just present! Overall it was pretty quiet. Unfortunately, a couple of people made use of the outdoor speakers built into their units (what an obnoxious, stupid feature, in my opinion!), but only during the dinner hour. No partiers when I was there. There were some very old and run-down camping units in the place, which can be a little off-putting... but it's the Pacific Northwest, so most trailers look a little sketchy if they are more than a few years old, and not meticulously cared-for. All sites had full hookups, as near as I could tell. There is a nice tent area by the woods, and one cabin that you can rent. The campground itself is a work in progress; it's older, and you can see they are in the process of upgrading some things. The "quiet lounge" and exercise center are closed just now, possibly some mechanical issues. The pool is open May through September, outdoor, fairly small. There is a game lounge/family lounge with some games, puzzles, a tv, and seating, even a small library, if you need to get away from your trailer for a bit. Restrooms are older, but were clean and in good working order. If you need wifi, you will need to pay for it, but prices aren't bad, and the speed was good. No built-in fire pits; you either need to bring your own, or rent one. There is a fenced off-leash dog area, not super large, but it kept my dog entertained for a bit. I stayed in the Phase 1 section, which is semi-shaded. There is a Phase 2 section that is more open, larger spaces, but not much in the way of shade. Phase 2 was closed until peak season, but made for a nice place to walk the dog or ride bikes. When you're tired of hanging out at your camp site, and time by the sea beckons to your soul, it's just a 1-2 mile drive to Birch Bay, which has some public parking by the sandy shore, or you can drive another mile to the Birch Bay State Park, which has a rocky beach face. You could also head north about 4 miles to Semiahmoo, where there are lovely bike and walking trails along the beach, a few restaurants, and a county park for picnicking. Shopping is not far away. For necessities and groceries, there is the Birch Bay market about 1-2 miles away; Birch Bay Square about 20 minutes east; Ferndale and Bellingham to the south, or hop the border at Blaine and shop in Canada. Staff was friendly and helpful, though I did not interact with them much. I will stay here again.

Worst Thousand Trails ever! Dumpy sites due to being to close together and lots of long-term residents with trash everywhere.

Peace Arch State Park - Views of the arch from the US side

Old glory on top of The Peace Arch signifies FRANK has arrived to the boarder. We took a nice spring break road trip up from Seattle to Vancouver and plotted our border crossing here - it's a lovely route with lots to see and do and this was an excellent spot to stretch our legs. The dramatic 67-foot tall, brilliant white arch spans across the border into both countries and shines like a beacon against the grasses and ocean. It's beautiful and we had fun making a fuss of my son walking over for the first time haha! The most astounding thing was finding a neighborhood that seemed to be right on the border line haha! We had to google if they're considered Canadian or American lol!! Turns out they're technically on the Canada side - but was an interesting rabbit hole to explore. Customs/immigration sits just beyond the arch and is well marked. The short lines moved fast but this was a weekday - based on my reading it can have some very long wait times so we got lucky. The park has lots of paved parking, shelters and seats, but I didn't see any bathrooms anywhere. You can access the park from either country and its entrances are well marked.

Management: I believe there's an opportunity for improvement in the hospitality at this location…read more Some guests have expressed feelings of being monitored, which can create an uncomfortable atmosphere. It seems that staff might unintentionally contribute to this by sharing information among themselves. Additionally, some guests have raised concerns about the usage policies for amenities, such as the limited access to washrooms and the daily fees for pool usage. Many feel that these regulations could be more accommodating and reflect a welcoming spirit. It might be beneficial for management to consider these perspectives, as several guests are suggesting a reevaluation of the experience to make it more enjoyable for everyone. If you expect privacy this is not the place, as staff will come on your lot and take pictures of the site without any notice or permission with cameras in tow.

The park is mostly your round residents, many who have not moved their RV in years. There are some mobile homes and some prefab type housing units as well. I knew this going in, but the ratings were good on another review site so I had no worries. The staff was friendly. They have a store stocked with some odds and ends. Found a gas connector adapter I needed and it was only $1. The clubhouse has visitor information as well as pool and air hockey tables that have seen their better days. There is a nice pond with ducks and a little dock to sit on. There is a 9 hole mini golf course. It has seen it's better days as well and was homemade with the greens coming up or buckling in places. I appreciate the effort though and my kids liked it. They had pedal bikes you could rent for a whopping $12 per hour, which seemed excessive to me. I never saw anyone riding them. They had a pool and spa which was nice and clean, though I wish it stayed open later. The park is near a shooting range. I know this disturbed some of the residents at times. We run the fan on the AC unit all night so it never bothered us. If you have pets or want to spend time outside, just be warned. There were a couple things I was concerned about. First, the wi-fi was terrible. Signal was poor in our site. Apparently the full timers all have cable internet, so the wifi was just for the short term people. It was manageable if I set my laptop in one area and it was late at night or early in the am. Our last day though, the wifi slowed to a crawl. It became unusable. I went to the clubhouse to get a better signal and with full signal, it would not even load gmail. A friend had just called me and it appeared my mailbox had been hacked. I was desperate to get on, fix the problem and change passwords to important things like banking and what not. I complained to the staff. They called someone who told them that the wifi is supposed to be "dial up speed." It just so happens, my expertise is in wifi networking. This was not dial up speed even, they had other problems. After some time of trying to get it to work, a person in the office (who turned out to be related to the owner) took me to his site and got me connected via a hard line into his personal internet provider. I got it resolved and really, really appreciated his help. The wifi did not work for the rest of the time we were there. Data roaming on your cell can cost you thousands in Canada (if you are from the US). I had been certain to ask twice about wifi when I booked because it was vital I had reliable wifi. So, this was a big disappointment. I also heard a couple people talking about things being stolen in the park at one time. I never felt worried or unsafe. However, the bars on the office windows lead me to believe this is not exactly Mayberry. For visiting Vancouver, I really wish we had stayed north of the city instead of south. Vancouver is just under an hour from here and we did things mostly that were in or north of Vancouver. This did not factor into my rating. Nearby, I highly recommend Mary's Garden for buying produce. Also, for fun go to 184st and 0 Ave and drive right along the border. The Peace Park was also fun and close by. If you are visiting Canada, keep in mind that everything is hyper expensive here, and that's from someone who lives in LA.

Prices are pretty reasonable and we chose the two hour option due to our limited time during the sunset period. The staff were busy but friendly and assisted us with our kayaks. They will brief you about the kayaks, safety and where to go. Now, I would select a longer time to truly appreciate Deep Cove's natural beauty when you aren't dodging other kayaks or boats. The traffic can be somewhat chaotic in the summer time and it is main area for a lot of boaters heading out of the cove. We kayak around three islands within our two hour option, but didn't relax as much as we want. Again, the salt water, slight wind, and being in the 80's made it a wonderful but brief time.

Our guides were knowledgeable and got us in and out of our kayak without us getting our feet wet. I didn't give five stars for two reasons. First, the two guides seemed a bit lax, they mostly paddled with us instead of taking lead and sweep positions, despite the fact that two out of the six of us had never kayaked before. They did look back periodically to check on everyone, but it was still strange compared to other kayak tours I've been on. Second, they didn't take pictures of us, other tours I've been on do it as a matter of course and email or post pictures to everyone. Still, this was a very worthwhile experience, and everyone enjoyed the views, the seals we saw in the water, etc., and no one had trouble keeping up despite the wind and the range of both ages and kayaking experience.
