I was impressed that they hustled a child's order ahead of the adults food to keep them satisfied. I didn't see the waiters come back through much after the food was served. On this trip I ordered the steak teriyaki bento box. The box is a bit expensive compared to Other places. However the sinking atmosphere, location, quality and volume...justify the price in my mind. The box came with a cup of miso soup. The soup was tasty and a lot like you would expect for a Japanese restaurant. It did not come with a salad as many other places might. The box was stuffed with food! The steak es piled high and excellent! It was very tender and moist. It had a nice teriyaki flavor marinated in the meat. There were two crab Rangoon pieces and two egg rolls. Normally you would only expect one of each. The crab Rangoon wrapper was cooked so that it was a bit oily and the wrapper was mushy. The filling was plentiful. However I felt like the filling was lacking on crab taste and overpowering on cream cheese. The egg Roll wrappers were a bit more crispy without being too crispy. The wrapper was a bit greasy to taste. I found the filling...while fresh...to be a little mushy as well. There were five pieces of a California roll included. That was a lot of sushi to eat as well. The roll was tasty. It was put together nicely and gave you a good taste of each ingredient.

My bento lunch came with a cup of miso soup, and it was so nourishing and briny, like only miso soup can be. So yeah. I didn't taste any of the sushi here at Umi, unless you count a California roll, which I don't. But they have lots of different types of rolls, nigiri and hand rolls. Umi also has a large menu of sake. So large, that I thought I would be remiss to not get sake to go with my lunch. The menu made me do it! So I got the chiku bai Nigori sake, and it was so smooth. Sake is served in a small pitcher with a small ceramic cup. I wasn't sure if the sake pitcher was supposed to be shared, but there was only one cup, and there was only one me, so I went for it. A sake buzz during lunch ... how extravagant. I visited for a late lunch, around 1:30 p.m., and I was the only person in the whole place. She said "I don't care if you would've read the doors you would've known" my husband says to me "that's fine, we will go somewhere else" she mutters "yea go f*cking somewhere else" I said "wow we don't have to have an attitude" she said "yea we don't have to have a f*cking attitude" and whips her head at my husband. We left and there were absolutely no signs on the doors. There were 2 signs for food allergies NOT outside food. That's besides the point now. Once we got back to the car I was in disbelief I decided to call and ask to speak to a manager.
