When the lobster clasp on my favorite necklace broke, I was at a loss as to where I could find a trustworthy jewelry repair place here in Denver. Luckily, I saw all the positive reviews on AA Jewelers and decided to take a chance. After examining the damage, the nice woman explained that they could either replace the spring in the clasp for $25, or replace the entire clasp for $40. I needed to get my engagement ring downsized a whole size. After calling multiple places near Cherry Creek I was quoted minimum of $75. I looked at AA Jewelers off Colfax and they quoted me $35 and two days (would have been faster but it was over Christmas and New Years week). I trusted my gut and the other reviews posted and was promptly given a firm price. My ring fit and looked great but I decided I wanted it a little more snug so I brought it back in the next day. I went to AA jewelers to get a ring resized. The first time I went in the lady helping me seemed to not know for sure how to make sure I was getting the correct size ring. The size ended up being too big so I took it back and they corrected it to make it fit better. The shop is family owned and the workers were very nice. This isn't a bourgeois place but it gets the job done. I generally don't go into places with metal locked doors on the inside, but I guess being on Colfax it's a good idea to have some control on who gets to come inside. They do primarily speak Spanish as well. read more

I rarely post reviews, and when I do, it's generally to give praise. Not this time, unfortunately. I have had a number of good experiences with this watch shop previously, but this most recent one was a train wreck that bears posting... Just before the Holidays, I took in two automatic - a Seiko 6139-6000 and a micro brand - Straton which is powered by a Seiko NE88 movement. The rotor had come undone on the 6139, and on the Straton, the screw down crown was coming off when I unscrewed it. Things started out great as with my previous experiences - the owner fixed the 6139 on the spot, and refused to take any money for it. But he said he would have to have his watchmaker look at the Straton. I had just got he Straton back from a full service with the manufacturer in Switzerland, so it was running fine, but I just had this issue with the crown unscrewing. I contacted the manufacturer, and he said it sounded like a simple fix that my local watchmaker should be able to fix very easily. But when I went in to pick up the watch a couple days later, the crown was reattached, but the watch wasn't running and the hair spring was partly uncoiled. I wasn't able to speak to the watchmaker until yesterday (under normal circumstances he's not there any set or regular hours, plus the Holidays, and I had a family situation that took me out of town for about half of December and January). But when I did speak with him yesterday, he just denied any responsibility, saying over and over again that it couldn't be his fault because he "doesn't have those parts" - a total non sequitur - you only need the parts to fix a problem, not to create one... The shop owner basically just backed his watchmaker (not sure what the relationship is - employer-employee or independent contractor or what), saying "he's a professional and doesn't make those kinds of mistakes". All I can say is that the watch was running fine when I brought it in, the watchmaker opened it up to fix the crown, and I got back a jacked watch. I even tried to talk to the owner without his watchmaker present to tell him that I'm not going to push the issue because I can't really prove anything (I foolishly took the watch with me when I went it to pick until snd realized the problem - I should have left it there...), but that he might want to reconsider his relationship with his watchmaker, but he wasn't having any of it. Just steadfastly backed his guy, and denied any responsibility. So now I have to send the watch back to the manufacturer in Switzerland for repair - and incur the cost. ‍ Very, very disappointing. read more

It took him awhile to exchange them because of it being a difficult band to switch but he did a great job and only charge me $5!! I remember taking it to Cherry Creek mall to get same thing done couple years ago and they charge me $20. I love to support local small family business.
