I live about 30 minutes away, but would have no hesitation going out there if I needed something I knew they carried since they're so helpful. Most recently, I went to look at hydration supplies as I'm preparing to run my first marathon, and the woman who helped me was so informative and provided different opinions on products that might help me make a decision. There was no pressure to buy and despite my indecisiveness, she was very patient - even at almost closing time on a Saturday night! In addition to asking questions about running gear, I also asked her and her husband questions about races in the area. Since they're experienced runners, I figured they would be great resources for well directed half marathons and marathons, and sure enough, they were. While locally owned running stores are not always the cheapest (compared to online), they cannot be replaced. You aren't paying solely for the product at locally owned and operated running stores, you're paying for knowledge and service that can't be provided online. Quite often, performance running stores are really intimidating for more recreational runners and in some of the local running stores they really aren't that friendly. In my running group, we have discussed which stores pressure their customers to buy, which ones we don't go to because we feel the people that work there are 'running snobs', and which ones are not helpful - Endurance House is not on that list. I highly recommend runners of all abilities visit Endurance House, particularly new runners.

So why did I choose Clear Water Outdoor over the others? Because I love technology and the ease of online booking. Gone are the days of actually having to talk to someone! Verbal communication, such a daunting task! Their website is easy to navigate. You pick a day, how many boards you want to rent, pick a time slot and pay. Done and done. When we arrived to the storefront the rental process was pretty seamless. They took my drivers license and walked me over the the park across the lake where 2 boards were ready to go. It is a 5 minute walk from the store to the park BTW. Oh and they have a safe place to store your belongings in the store because there is no where to put it on the beach.

I had never been here before. After being pregnant and nursing for a long period of time, I came…read morehere looking for bras on a Saturday. I wrote my name on the sheet. It stated to write your name on the sheet and they would call your phone number if you stepped out. I came back, after a few minutes they called the name after mine. They never called me. I got a fitting. I had $250 worth of bras. Of course the bras felt great in the 5 minutes I wore them. I take responsibility for buying the bras before I went out of town, which didn't give me a lot of time to try and return. The sports bra, I brought back because you could see the seems through workout shirts. Upon taking the tags off of the padded t shirt bras, and wearing for more than 5 minutes, it became evident the cup size was too big. I went back, she resized me a cup size smaller and then changed out one of the bras. I still had $160 worth at home. Again, the new bra felt great, but upon wearing it, it was digging up my arm pit and the other bra I couldn't return since she took of the tags. I have a 1/4 in red line on my torso from the bra being so tight. I am out $240 and a $85 gift card (which I have no use for, because no one can fit me), and no wearable bras. I had to make 3 trips to the store, Including the most recent one 4 days after buying. Money is very tight and I could have really used the $320. I do believe they should stand behind their fittings. Never again. In the future, I will order off Amazon (same bras), try, on and return for a full refund.

I've bought from their catalog for years, and was thrilled to see them open a shop in Madison. And after my first visit, it looks like they've done it right. The retail store has limited space, so this fall they've concentrated on their basic and cold weather items. The space is no-frills attractive, the layout more browsable than tightly organized. Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn't hover. The woman who waited on me showed up every so often to put my stuff in a fitting room and answer questions; other than that, she let me do my thing. Both clerks present that day knew the merchandise. This is not a cheap place to shop. A top may cost $50, a pair of pants or sweatshirt $75, and outerwear more like $100. What you get for that is a well-made item that's both functional and attractive, made for movement, and in many cases suitable for athletic, outdoor use. They're well-sewn, using technical fabrics and other synthetics, as well as some cotton and wool. They will also help you with items from the mail-order catalog, if you want to order something that's not in the store, or have a problem or return. I have been happy with 95% of what I've ordered from them for the past five years or so. Having the store is even better, because it takes out the guesswork.
