Recently, we have purchased our first home and one of top things to do is replace the roof. The first weekend of ownership, i have made a few appointments with a few roofers to get estimates. Henry and Dan came by and told me things I didn't needed with a full explanation why while the other roofers were trying to upsell me.They were honest and straight forward. I felt confident and booked them at the spot. As the day came, they tarped the front and back of my property and got it all done in one day. They cleaned up like they were never there. Unprofessional and dishonest We noticed some shingles from the roof on the ground and called several contractors to assess what needs to be done. Some of them were telling that we need to repair only part of the roof, while others were telling that we need to replace whole roof. Not being experts in this business we have to rely on the expert advice. We decided to go with A1 Progressive Construction since they assured that we need to fix only certain parts of the roof and that they provide the warranty. We paid the deposit and were patiently waiting for them to reach us to schedule a date. After few weeks of waiting they called and asked to pay the balance and we were surprised to hear that they already came and completed the job while we were not at home (apparently this is a pattern with this firm). We requested to provide us pictures that were promised to be sent to us when the job is done, and we paid the balance as soon as we got them. Unfortunately, several weeks later we found more shingles from the roof on the ground. We called them to report a problem. They showed up promptly, but this time they said that the whole roof needs to be replaced because all nails are rusted, that their warranty doesn't apply since all shingles that they put on are still there. The question is why the guys did not tell as about rusted nails before they started the job? They just scammed us to pay for the useless job, which they new will not fix the problem (I doubt that nails got just suddenly rusted within several weeks being there for more the 10 years), just to make some quick money and hoping to get another job. Ironically, later days, they called us by mistake, asking to remove negative rating placed by another customer. So we are not alone. I gave them two starts only because the shingles they put are still there. read more

We bought a house and the roof was 31 year old. After some hard rains during the fall we notice a leak and decided that was better to replace the roof. We contacted A1 Progressive thru Yelp and Alex responded right away. He checked the roof and provide a very fair estimate (better that the other 3 roofers contacted). He took care of the permits and left the place clean after they finished. I would recommend them for any roofing and construction needs that you may have. I wish I could give this company 10 stars, they were really wonderful to work with! We needed to replace our roof and gutters. When Alex and Dan came to do the estimate, they were the only company to actually go up into our attic to take a look at the roof from the inside, and after that, they got out a ladder and went up on the roof to take a closer look. The other companies that we had called just walked around the house before giving us a price. So right off the bat, we were impressed by their in-depth assessment and we believed that they would provide us with the most accurate estimate of the work that needed to be done. The actual estimate came right in the middle pricewise of the others that we received, so we were happy about that. The crew was neat and efficient. Everyone that we spoke with - Dan, Alex, Corey, and Henry were so professional, and yet friendly too. Sometimes it's hard to strike that right balance between professionalism and friendliness, but they were perfect. We ran into a glitch once the roof was done which required spackling and painting and some electrical work. They stayed right on top of the issue and resolved it quickly. They even went so far as to have paint made to match our existing paint and repainted the extensive spackled areas beautifully. Now, you might read that and think, "That's what they should have done" and you would be correct, however, I want to emphasize that this was all done without any hesitation on their part at all...this is the way they do business...they want to do a great job, and they want to do the right thing. The electrical problem ended up not having anything at all to do with the roof job, but before we discovered that, A1 removed a whole area of the new roof and replaced it again...no charge. No charge for the electrical fix either. We love the new roof and the gutters/covers are awesome - they won't need to be cleaned out for several years down the road. Do not hesitate to work with A1. I found A1 Progressive through Angies List following the discovery of a leak in our ceiling. Henry from A1 Progressive came out to our home almost immediately to identify the problem and propose a solution with an estimate. Henry was professional and polite, and was also very kind to my wife and our puppy. He even insisted on taking his shoes off in the home, which was incredibly thoughtful. On the day of the job, Henry showed up to get everything rolling, and took pictures of before/during/after to show me the work that was done to repair the leak. He also inspected the rest of my roof to understand what we should look out for and have our eye on, as our roof is getting up there in age. The work was top quality, and I will say our property was left in good shape (no debris, nails, etc following the job). I had a great experience with A1. Dan came out was super polite, professional and knows his stuff. I had leaky small roofs that were not done when my main roof was replaced by another company. Dan got on the ladder and checked and explained in detail what was needed. I needed a door replaced as well. Although not their specialty, he offered to install the exterior door graciously at a wonderful price. They fixed the roofs, installed gutters, installed an exterior door and reinstalled a leader pipe. They even got a referral and was hired by my neighbor. The price was great. They did an amazing job. I had some roof shingle damage from winter weather and gutters that were pulling away from the house. I also had squirrels making nests in my soffits. The guy I usually use went into other work so I decided to take a gamble with yelp reviews to help me find a reliable contractor. A1 had great reviews and I must say they were pretty much as advertised. Henry came quickly for an estimate at which time I added a bilco door foundation repair/rebuild on a whim thinking that they probably just do roof related jobs and surprisingly he said "no problem!". They came to do the work three days later just as was promised and everything was repaired without much fuss and rather quickly. Squirrels are even gone!....What more could you ask for? well, I guess that they stand behind their work with a warranty? So I asked them straight out "if I had problems next winter with the same gutters, would they stand by their work and fix it at no extra cost?" Yes was the answer. So my initial interaction with Alex really had me feeling like I had a great contractor and I could use him for everything I needed for anything in my home . I've never been so wrong in my entire life. I had a very serious problem with my floors sloping in my home , I found A1 progressive through Angies list and when I put in my information and problem, they were the first to respond. After a face to face consultation and talking to several other contractors I decided to go with A1 . Biggest mistake of my life. I reached out to them about a problem that I noticed after he finished the work and he was paid in full.When he came by he told me it was my imagination but if I noticed the problem continuing don't hesitate to reach back out and they would help resolve the issue. I called him back 3 weeks ago and after several calls,messages (voice and text) I have yet to get a response. Mind you I did speak to Alex initially and he told me he would contact me and schedule a time to meet and discuss what the issues. Which I'm still waiting for. I wish that I could give this company a negative 5 stars but I gave them one . Please if you see this review please take it into serious consideration and definitely DO NOT USE THESE GUYS OR ANYONE FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Save yourself money and aggravation. Although these fellows could not be more charming, personal, and amazingly responsive they did most of the unscrupulous things they warned me about just at the estimate! If anyone in life tells you how honest they are, it's red flag number 1. If they put down the work of the contractor before them, it's red flag 2. That shames me as a customer, particularly when it was inspected by and permitted by the town. If I also feel like I'm being buttered up, which feels good at the time of doing it, afterwards I feel like they were setting me up as a mark. And lastly, they upsold when they tried to convince me that a 9 year old roof needed full replacement. By the way, I expressed that these were for fixes to satisfy a buyer for my home. My husband would have punched them. That's why he left after they presented their estimate. They were trying to pressure me for a commitment at the time they personally handed me their estimate. And the last most damning part that sealed my decision to not use them is that they told me about contractors that get into trouble and close up shop, just to reopen under a different name. Their card is A1 Progressive, but their proposal was on letterhead of a different name. I'm happy that others found them great! I recently had to have a repair done to my roof for my insurance company. My insurance company gave me 2 weeks to get this job completed and I ended up with 4 other roofing contractors providing quotes. A1 Progressive went above and beyond the call of service. They showed up on time and completed the job before my deadline, they also matched any quote I received from other companies. I had several leaks in a 19 year old roof and was worried about the next heavy rain. Alex and Henry came within 30 minutes of my call. They evaluated the roof, took pictures of problem areas and gave me estimates for repair and/replacement costs on the spot. They were patient, friendly and helpful. It took me another week and a half to get my due diligence two other estimates and A1 Progressive was the best price and the real deal. I had my new roof on in one day within 2 weeks of the estimate. The only hold up was getting the permit for the job from the town. My only reason for not providing a 5 star rating was that I was not prepared for the attic clean up needed once the roof was installed. To their credit, A1 provided me an industrial vacuum to more easily address the issue. I would also recommend getting new gutters and leaders at the same time.
