Our garage door broke and we made a call to them the same day. They were very fast and efficient in everything. They came out quickly and placed a new door on within days. The weekend came and then that following Monday they came and painted the door to match what we had previously so the HOA wouldn't flip. Total time it took to get a new door and for it to be painted was about 5 days and that includes the weekend. Highly recommend them and they are affordable. read more

I called for a tune up and to have the springs tightened. they said ok and scheduled a tech. they had to cancel my Friday appointment for unknown reasons (fine with that things happen) reschedule for Sunday. Met young tech and he stated they would not tighten my springs because it was dangerous. This is ridiculous. He said he could do new springs for $1500. I have to guess that is dangerous as well. I am an electrician this would be equivalent to me saying I can't change a bad breaker and will only change the whole panel because "it's too dangerous ". A 100 dollar job to change breaker and telling them $3000 for a new panel. Predatory company. read more

Yeh don't listen to the company's response about how they've fixed scheduling problems. They haven't. I made an appointment that they decided they'd change the day of and sent me a text to confirm it. Told them it was wrong and they offered to change it to Saturday. Saturday came and they didn't come so I called them and they said it was their bad and they asked if they could come out Sunday. Sunday came and still nobody came. Called them and they asked when they could reschedule to. They also said they will "see" about getting me a refund for services never offered. This probably has to do with the fact that I only bought something cheap from them instead of dropping $4k for a new garage door motor so my appointment became low priority. read more

Our garage door broke down a year ago and the technician told us we could either replace the broken/worn out parts (spring, cables, bearings) or simply replace the door. We elected to fix the parts, which was a total of over 2k, and the service came with a free tuneup a year later. Fast forward a year and the tuneup technician says we need to replace the hinges -- he didn't know the exact cost but estimated $150. I set the appointment and a new technician came out, who, after first quoting the hinge cost as $600, suggested we replace the entire door, actually referring to the work a year ago as "a bandaid." Hmm...you think we would've initially chosen the "bandaid" option if it had been presented as such? He called another colleague who apologized over the phone for the way this was handled and offered a 1.5k credit on a new door. But with the quotations provided, even with the 1.5k credit, the grand total of the work for the absolute lowest level option would still be outrageous compared to other local companies. For service from a company that misled me to the tune of over 2k a year. Clearly these guys are working on commission. What an expensive lesson. No thanks. read more

My mom received one of their coupons in the mail and then, lo and behold, the garage opener stopped working. So she gave them a call for an appointment. The person showed up on time but then proceeded to give her a 30-minute sales pitch about all their services and whatever else they do. I'm sorry but all she wanted was someone to come and look at what was wrong, diagnose the issue and fix it. After the sales pitch, the tech proceeded to tell her that the outlet the door opener was plugged into wasn't working. My mom asked if he checked the breaker box. He said no and that he wouldn't have thought to check it. (Really?!) So she showed him where the breaker box was and turns out one breaker was tripped so he flipped that off and on and that fixed the issue instantly. He gave her a diagnosis of some other items around the garage door being older and so she decided to replace those items, and then she purchased the annual maintenance plan which is $13/month. I'm glad everything got fixed but if the tech just did what he was supposed to do right away and not wasted time with a sales pitch it would have been a better service. Also. The fact that he didn't think to look at the breaker box is not good. Maybe he was new but overall this company didn't give my mom a great feeling. I was on the schedule for service of my two garage doors this afternoon between 12 - 3:00:pm. No one showed up or contacted me so I called the main number and after holding for 10 minutes a nice young woman answered my call. She contacted dispatcher and found out that they would not be coming out today. When I asked what the reason was she said they were too busy. I asked why no one had contacted me to let me know this and she said there was no reason. She then asked if I wanted to try and schedule for another day. I have worked with this company for several years. The first few years they were very responsive. The last two years they have often just been a no show. Time to look for another company. read more

(UPDATED) Louie gave me a lot of information & details. He answered all my questions and was patient. My doors are old and out of shape so I knew it would need more than a tune up. Got some repairs done in the meantime while I research replacements. I will get it done & A1 will be the frontrunner for the replacement. Louie put A1 in a great position to earn my replacement business. So not long after having maintenance done on the garage door, it started giving me all sorts of problems. Not closing or opening, going halfway coming back up. The sensors were fine but something was amiss. Never had these problems before, the door was just noisy. It's been non stop for weeks now. Not only did A1 put their stickers all over my garage, it's suspicious that all of a sudden after spending 600$ the door is having problems. Part of their sales pitch was they make money off others doing shoddy work. We'll I'm gonna have to pay someone else to fix their mistake or intentional sabotage. Use them if you want but I went from, ready to buy 2 new doors from them to I'll never deal with them again and I'm willing to eat the 600 and get a competent company. read more

My journey started in January of 2024 after creasing a panel on an existing garage door. At first they repaired the existing door, the repair did not last but a few weeks. I then contracted them to install a new garage door as well the interior metal rails. Soon after they could not locate the door I purchased, they did install a temporary door without a window panel. Fast forward to January 2025 (we are seasonal) the window panel was still not available until March 2025, The window panel was then installed although without the window inserts that give it character. We were promised they would be available and installed in April 2025, crickets, it didn't happen. Fast forward to January 2026, contacted A1 to set up the install, was told 5-weeks, set up for today Sunday March 22, 2025 8-10 AM., a conformation test was sent by A1 on Saturday. Sunday at 10:45 AM I called A1 as the technician did not show, after 10-minutes on hold was told that technician was off today, I could reschedule for tomorrow. At that point I cancelled the remaining part of the order as my frustration level was high and have been mis-led numerous times in the 24 months of this garage door ordeal. Too many phone calls to list, empty promises and missed appointments not to mention the higher than average prices charged. Good luck if you choose to use A1. read more

We are seniors in our 80s and the Technician recommended my husband buy the "Elite Series Garage Door Opener." THIS WAS A TOTALL OVER-SELL FOR OUR NEEDS and definitely taking advantage of my husband. The unit's main feature seems to be the Camera operation (which we never wanted, never asked for, nor will we use it. When I got home, the technician had already installed most of the unit he had recommended, and then he talked me into installing a camera feature. I asked if we had to pay for the service, and he said NO. I have since UNINSTALLED the camera function because it's too confusing for me to use. He should have installed the simple replacement motor unit comparable to the unit he removed. I feel this is shameful to take advantage of seniors. They are overpriced. Came out and replaced spring and bearings and the cost was over $2K. Do not waste your time calling them for a quote. They charge you if you do not go with them. Wicho Gonzales was excellent, offering us different products at different price levels. We called in the morning and by the evening everything that needed to be replaced was in place. The next day we had an adjustment problem and a technician (Casey Devine) came out right away and showed us how to adjust the sensors. I'm 84 years old and on a fixed income. I called A1 for a tune up and they said that I needed a new opener. They quoted us a price of $1875, and I couldn't afford it. Next, the door made a loud snapping noise. Patrick came out and fixed it. He again said that we needed a new opener. We asked about just repairing the problem. Turned out, to replace the sprocket was $366.84 with a veterans discount. This is the same price he quoted for labor to replace the entire head. We discussed the price when he came to do the work. He gave us a 5% discount. After reading other Yelp reviews, I feel victimized like a lot of other people. read more

We asked for an evaluation on our garage door. It was done thoroughly and resulted in an estimate of garage door replacement, which we expected. We had no less than 4 contacts from them (1 on text, which was not an authorized method of communication) essentially pushing us to make a decision. This was also knowing that we needed to get HOA approval and that we had an event that would delay any decision. The Estimate seemed high so we got 2 more estimates. Very frustrating experience. We scheduled a tune-up and to replace the bottom rubber strip on our garage door. On May 15 a technician arrived. He did the tuneup and removed the existing rubber strip from our garage door. He then told us that he did not have the correct size in his truck and that he would return the next day to replace the strip. It is now May 30 and after two calls to request that a manager call us to resolve the issue, we still have not received a call. We now have no protection from bugs getting in our garage and no faith in this company. Got a call saying tech wasn't working but they would have someone come at 1:30 for first afternoon appointment At 4:30 no call or message. I messaged them and was told tech was still on another job. I rescheduled for the next morning. Was told I'd be first appointment and that they would call tech to be sure they'd be here at 8. 10am no tech and no call or message. Zach was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and quick in replacing the spring and the worn cables. He offered advice, maintenance tips, and even swept out my entire garage when he was done. Cost approximately $1500 I foolishly went ahead with the work, and while the technician was working, I found other estimates from reputable companies charging less than half the amount. Upon completing the job (60 minutes!), the technician wanted to charge me the tune-up fee and a call-out charge on top of A1's exuberant estimate. I have been ripped off and will never use this company again. I would suggest that anyone ignore their reviews. Total scam! Charged me over a grand to install a cheap opener. Door didn't open and close right after they installed. They came back two days later and made it worse. Left a bolt loose on the door with no nut on it. The opener came loose from the door. Also they bent my door and cracked one of the corners. The closer hangs down so low I can't park under it. Have to get out of my vehicle on the passenger side, because I have to park so close to the wall. Also they claimed they had worked on my garage door in the past. Not true. When I pulled the file for my door my garage door company was another company. The representative said he could not answer a question however he could schedule a representative to come out and I could pay him to come out so I could ask a question about the surge protector I bought from them. The technician was competent and did a good job BUT... we asked for a tune up and ended up with a bill for $3,163.35!! I understand that with the weight of our 3 doors and the age of the springs and a belt rail that needed replacement the cost would exceed the $72 tune up fee BUT when I researched on line it seems that we were charged $200 to $300 per door, over the going rate for top quality springs. Total $600 to $900. Then was the labor charge of $165 per hour, 3 hours total, and during that time a new tech, only 2 weeks on the job, did the work with the experienced guy coaching him every step of the way. I have no problem with on-the-job training but I do when I have to pay for the extra time taken for explanations and demonstrations. I would not use these guys again because of the excessive charges. read more

About a year ago my garage door was not working so I called A1 who came out right away, fixed and serviced my door and then talked me into monthly service contract. I agreed thinking it would assist me if I ever had another problem. Well today I did, called the number and was told that no one could come out until the next day. Why do I have a service contract? I am still paying a "discounted" emergency fee even though it will be 24 hours of being a prisoner in my home. An emergency is just that, an emergency. If you don't have enough coverage for that then I don't need you. I will have my service tomorrow and then I am done. read more
