A1 Garage Door charged my wife $1,900 to replace a garage door spring. After researching typical pricing afterward, I was shocked. What should have been a relatively straightforward repair appears to have been sold at an extremely inflated price. My biggest issue isn't just the cost--it's that the technician was dealing with someone who wasn't familiar with garage door repairs and was put in a position where she had to trust their recommendation. The price quoted was so far beyond what many other companies charge that it felt predatory. We were never given the impression that this was an unusually expensive repair, nor were we encouraged to seek a second opinion. Had we known the typical market rate, we would never have agreed to the work at that price. I strongly encourage anyone considering A1 Garage Door to get multiple quotes before approving any repair. A $1,900 spring replacement is, in read more

We called A1 when we could not raise our 23 year old gstage door. Their 29-point inspection check had 3 failures and 9 areas needing attention. Yet, they sold my elderly husband their premium torsion spring conversion for over $2500. Don't bother to complain. You will get nowhere. In addition to their predatory sales tactics, they treat a complaining customer as the enemy, withholding last names and names of supervisors and not returning phone calls. So far, they have even failed to respond to the Better Business Bureau. Stay away! read more

Our garage door broke and we made a call to them the same day. They were very fast and efficient in everything. They came out quickly and placed a new door on within days. The weekend came and then that following Monday they came and painted the door to match what we had previously so the HOA wouldn't flip. Total time it took to get a new door and for it to be painted was about 5 days and that includes the weekend. Highly recommend them and they are affordable. read more

Been with A-1 for about 10 years. The first several years was excellent service and on time every time. The last 3 or 4 years has been one scheduling problem after another with no on-time arrivals and some complete rescheduling. I prepay my service with their "worry-free" program. A-1 has terrible customer service now and for the last few years...it is truly sad to have what was once such a reliable company lose its way. I WOULD ADVISE AVOIDING THIS COMPANY AT THIS TIME. read more

I would highly suggest against using A1. I had a technician come out to fix a broken spring on a Saturday night. Thought everything was fixed until the next morning when my garage door was not working correctly. I tried calling all day Sunday and left messages, but never got a call back. For a 24/7 company, it's seems like no one works or pays attention to their messaging system on Sundays. I finally called back several times on Monday and after much discussion, was able to get someone sent out the following day. Customer care originally said it would be two days. Apparently after paying to having my garage door fixed and it still not working, it is not a priority for them. Technician came out the next day and said they couldn't fix anything and to call customer care. Called customer care again and they initially said it would be two days before someone could come out until then agreeing to send someone the next day. 3rd technician arrived and said he could not fix it and to call customer care again. 4th technician finally came out and fixed the problem with a strut on the garage door (another $180 spent). This was after almost a week of not having properly working garage door. A1 was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I had to go back and forth between technicians and customer service for almost a week and no one seemed to care that my garage door had not been fixed for close to a week after paying them money. I asked to speak to a supervisor multiple times and was never able to and no one called me back. I will never use this company again and I would advise anyone looking for garage door repair to look elsewhere. read more

Be careful!!! Everyone there was very nice and very helpful. However, they're trained to be nice and to be helpful. They may all work on commission. I don't know, but I have my suspicions. As previously stated, everybody was very nice and courteous. However, they sold me under the false narrative that they were just coming out to do a $50 inspection because they were in the neighborhood. They told me so many things were wrong with my garage door. They told me I needed new springs because it was going to wear out the motor that was only five years old, and that they installed five years ago. They tried to talk me into springs that cost almost $3500. I settled for the less expensive option. I was told that the door weighed too much for the motor because of the weakness in the springs. By the time he got done re-weighing the door with the new springs and whatever else I approved, it weighed the same. I don't remember everything else that they did, but it was pretty expensive and my garage door works the exact same as it did. It also still weighs the same. The people may be nice, but their bosses are crooks. read more

Yeh don't listen to the company's response about how they've fixed scheduling problems. They haven't. I made an appointment that they decided they'd change the day of and sent me a text to confirm it. Told them it was wrong and they offered to change it to Saturday. Saturday came and they didn't come so I called them and they said it was their bad and they asked if they could come out Sunday. Sunday came and still nobody came. Called them and they asked when they could reschedule to. They also said they will "see" about getting me a refund for services never offered. This probably has to do with the fact that I only bought something cheap from them instead of dropping $4k for a new garage door motor so my appointment became low priority. read more

So sad. I used A1 a few years ago to replace a garage door opener and they were wonderful. So I contacted them when I needed a new garage door. The estimator was a nice guy, but then they get you on the phone with the salesperson. Not only did they use hard sell high pressure tactics, they started out with a quote of $5000, and when I didn't take that came down to $2500 (the old "we have one of the doors you want sitting in the back so we'll let you have it half price) and when I became more adamant in my no thank yous, they came down to $1500. And these prices were only available if I signed the contract that day. How completely insulting and dishonest. Then they continued to contact me to pursue the sale. Don't know what happened to the company, but I would never use them or recommend them. They give all home repair contractors a bad name. And A1, if you read this, DON'T contact me. Don't waste my time. There is nothing you can do to counteract the entire bad experience I had. read more

I needed to have an opener installed on my parent's garage door in Oracle. Daniel came out and provided options. I chose the one with battery back up which means he had to go back to Tucson to get the motor after he installed the bracing and ran everything else. By midday the following day, he was done. I was very pleased. read more

A1 Garage doors is a rip off. I used them twice and learnt my lesson the second time. When the technician inspects your garage door he really doesn't know what he is doing or is just being careless because he thinks, as a senior citizen, we don't know the difference between a good or bad job. The first time they inspected my garage door, they took me for a 1,000 bill. They told me it was best to replace my spring with a heavy duty spring with a life time warranty. The second time they inspected my garage door they wanted to replace the spring with a different type of spring and not give me credit for the life time spring I had previously bought. At that moment and after watching the mechanic service my door I realized A1 Garage Doors was a rip off. They give you a reduced price to inspect your garage door then do a really terrible job of servicing the door then on top of it all they come up with another 800.00 quote for something you don't really need. I have found a real reliable garage door mechanic, who does an excellent job, and who doesn't try and rip you off because you are a senior citizen. Don't believe in their special it's just a way to lure you in. read more

A1 is your typical national chain that only try to high pressure and scare sell high dollar services instead of providing actual necessary repairs. I called for a tune up and to have the springs tightened. they said ok and scheduled a tech. they had to cancel my Friday appointment for unknown reasons (fine with that things happen) reschedule for Sunday. Met young tech and he stated they would not tighten my springs because it was dangerous. This is ridiculous. He said he could do new springs for $1500. I have to guess that is dangerous as well. I am an electrician this would be equivalent to me saying I can't change a bad breaker and will only change the whole panel because "it's too dangerous ". A 100 dollar job to change breaker and telling them $3000 for a new panel. Predatory company. read more

The tech was very helpful and helped us decide what to do with our garage problem without trying to sell more than we needed.

From when Wes came to give us a bid, to visiting with Alex, scheduling and eventually actually having it installed by Roger Felix we have been extremely pleased. Everyone was kind, courteous and extremely professional. Wes even helped me to find some real serious red flags in one of the other bids that I missed. I would wholeheartedly recommend them if you need repair and or replacement of your garage door. read more

The technician arrived on a late Saturday afternoon, and was ready to get to work, even after working a full day. J.P. is so well prepared and knowledgeable.. He is pleasant, energetic and explained everything to me in detail. He answered all my questions and made me feel very good about the whole job he was undertaking. The price was reasonable, and the quality of work is excellent. Now, I feel safe while using my double wide garage door. The whole process was made easy by the technician and A1. Our garage door broke down a year ago and the technician told us we could either replace the broken/worn out parts (spring, cables, bearings) or simply replace the door. We elected to fix the parts, which was a total of over 2k, and the service came with a free tuneup a year later. Fast forward a year and the tuneup technician says we need to replace the hinges -- he didn't know the exact cost but estimated $150. I set the appointment and a new technician came out, who, after first quoting the hinge cost as $600, suggested we replace the entire door, actually referring to the work a year ago as "a bandaid." Hmm...you think we would've initially chosen the "bandaid" option if it had been presented as such? He called another colleague who apologized over the phone for the way this was handled and offered a 1.5k credit on a new door. But with the quotations provided, even with the 1.5k credit, the grand total of the work for the absolute lowest level option would still be outrageous compared to other local companies. For service from a company that misled me to the tune of over 2k a year. Clearly these guys are working on commission. What an expensive lesson. No thanks. read more

My mom received one of their coupons in the mail and then, lo and behold, the garage opener stopped working. So she gave them a call for an appointment. The person showed up on time but then proceeded to give her a 30-minute sales pitch about all their services and whatever else they do. I'm sorry but all she wanted was someone to come and look at what was wrong, diagnose the issue and fix it. After the sales pitch, the tech proceeded to tell her that the outlet the door opener was plugged into wasn't working. My mom asked if he checked the breaker box. He said no and that he wouldn't have thought to check it. (Really?!) So she showed him where the breaker box was and turns out one breaker was tripped so he flipped that off and on and that fixed the issue instantly. He gave her a diagnosis of some other items around the garage door being older and so she decided to replace those items, and then she purchased the annual maintenance plan which is $13/month. I'm glad everything got fixed but if the tech just did what he was supposed to do right away and not wasted time with a sales pitch it would have been a better service. Also. The fact that he didn't think to look at the breaker box is not good. Maybe he was new but overall this company didn't give my mom a great feeling. We will see how this maintenance plan goes... read more

I was on the schedule for service of my two garage doors this afternoon between 12 - 3:00:pm. No one showed up or contacted me so I called the main number and after holding for 10 minutes a nice young woman answered my call. I asked why no one had contacted me to let me know this and she said there was no reason. She then asked if I wanted to try and schedule for another day. (UPDATED) Louie gave me a lot of information & details. He answered all my questions and was patient. My doors are old and out of shape so I knew it would need more than a tune up. Got some repairs done in the meantime while I research replacements. I will get it done & A1 will be the frontrunner for the replacement. Louie put A1 in a great position to earn my replacement business. So not long after having maintenance done on the garage door, it started giving me all sorts of problems. Not closing or opening, going halfway coming back up. The sensors were fine but something was amiss. Never had these problems before, the door was just noisy. It's been non stop for weeks now. Not only did A1 put their stickers all over my garage, it's suspicious that all of a sudden after spending 600$ the door is having problems. Part of their sales pitch was they make money off others doing shoddy work. We'll I'm gonna have to pay someone else to fix their mistake or intentional sabotage. Use them if you want but I went from, ready to buy 2 new doors from them to I'll never deal with them again and I'm willing to eat the 600 and get a competent company. read more

I had them tune up two garage doors, which was done professionally. The technician pointed out some issues regarding the three springs and gave me an estimate of over $1,200. to replace them. Called to ask about replacing the bottom seal on one of our garage doors. Tech was nice enough. Boohooed all over our Wayne Daltons trying to say it was a 'matter of time', etc. After putting A1 Garage stickers on every motor and door, quoted us 3500 for a new garage door. Nope. read more

Use this company if you want to be ignored for weeks while they hold your deposit, overpay and be told "sorry" when they requote you and forget to put in the weatherstripping on the exterior of the garage. I called back to tell them they had forgotten to include this in their quote and they wanted to charge me $750 (for two base boards and some weather stripping approx 10ft long) that wouldve taken them 30 minutes to install. I got a "I'm Sorry" instead. Service guy offered up to bring me coffee, now I know why. Do not recommend! read more

We are seniors in our 80s and the Technician recommended my husband buy the "Elite Series Garage Door Opener." THIS WAS A TOTALL OVER-SELL FOR OUR NEEDS and definitely taking advantage of my husband. The unit's main feature seems to be the Camera operation (which we never wanted, never asked for, nor will we use it. When I got home, the technician had already installed most of the unit he had recommended, and then he talked me into installing a camera feature. I asked if we had to pay for the service, and he said NO. I have since UNINSTALLED the camera function because it's too confusing for me to use. He should have installed the simple replacement motor unit comparable to the unit he removed. I feel this is shameful to take advantage of seniors. They are overpriced. Came out and replaced spring and bearings and the cost was over $2K. Do not waste your time calling them for a quote. They charge you if you do not go with them. We should have checked prior to having them do the work, shame on us. read more

We had never had garage door service since we moved into our home in 2000. We had almost everything replaced except the actual garage door. Amazing service! Super responsive and reasonable prices. Thank you so much for everything!

My journey started in January of 2024 after creasing a panel on an existing garage door. At first they repaired the existing door, the repair did not last but a few weeks. I then contracted them to install a new garage door as well the interior metal rails. Soon after they could not locate the door I purchased, they did install a temporary door without a window panel. Fast forward to January 2025 (we are seasonal) the window panel was still not available until March 2025, The window panel was then installed although without the window inserts that give it character. We were promised they would be available and installed in April 2025, crickets, it didn't happen. Fast forward to January 2026, contacted A1 to set up the install, was told 5-weeks, set up for today Sunday March 22, 2025 8-10 AM., a conformation test was sent by A1 on Saturday. Sunday at 10:45 AM I called A1 as the technician did not show, after 10-minutes on hold was told that technician was off today, I could reschedule for tomorrow. At that point I cancelled the remaining part of the order as my frustration level was high and have been mis-led numerous times in the 24 months of this garage door ordeal. Too many phone calls to list, empty promises and missed appointments not to mention the higher than average prices charged. Good luck if you choose to use A1. read more

I'm 84 years old and on a fixed income. I called A1 for a tune up and they said that I needed a new opener. They quoted us a price of $1875, and I couldn't afford it. Next, the door made a loud snapping noise. Patrick came out and fixed it. He again said that we needed a new opener. We asked about just repairing the problem. Turned out, to replace the sprocket was $366.84 with a veterans discount. This is the same price he quoted for labor to replace the entire head. We discussed the price when he came to do the work. He gave us a 5% discount. After reading other Yelp reviews, I feel victimized like a lot of other people. read more

We asked for an evaluation on our garage door. It was done thoroughly and resulted in an estimate of garage door replacement, which we expected. We had no less than 4 contacts from them (1 on text, which was not an authorized method of communication) essentially pushing us to make a decision. This was also knowing that we needed to get HOA approval and that we had an event that would delay any decision. The Estimate seemed high so we got 2 more estimates. Both were nearly half of A1's estimate. It pays to do more than one estimate! read more

It is now May 30 and after two calls to request that a manager call us to resolve the issue, we still have not received a call.
