I dropped my car off in the morning, around 10 a.m., and they kept it all day, not returning it until after 5 p.m. They charge $125 per hour, so it seems in their best interest to keep your car as long as possible. The only service I had done was an amp installation, and all the equipment was already in the car. The bottom line is they kept my car all day and charged me $900. I want to support small businesses, but not this one--this is a ripoff. I took my wife's car to Best Buy for the same service, and it cost $389 to install the same equipment, plus the same warranty, and it was done in three hours. I do not recommend this place; they are overcharging customers. Just go to Best Buy--they take care of you, have fair prices, and do honest work.

I read a bunch on the interwebs about how this was a bad idea, it was gonna screw up my low voltage battery system, the battery management system was gonna freak out. All sorts of horrific things were likely to happen. But Tim's had enough recent experience with EVs to know with the 12V batteries (not the Lithium Ion 16V or higher in some news EVs) - it was likely to work just fine. He whipped up a quote based on experience, and gave me the peace of mind to say, "Hey if it doesn't work - we'll customize according to some of the specs you're seeing online". Great! So I dropped it off a few months ago, the install went swimmingly and as planned, and I've had it thumping the hell outta my car ever since with not a single complain from the car's battery management system. He asked me where I wanted the dash cam placed, pointed out where he recommended drilling holes for the wiring to make sure I was comfortable with the placement, and took time to show me how the dash cam worked. During the pandemic, I purchased a classic van. It came without a stereo; the previous owner…read moreremoved it. I had a small budget for something temporary so I purchased a Pioneer unit on Amazon. Afterwards, I contacted Hot Tint in May 2022. They responded to me that day and told me to stop by the shop. I made an appointment for later that week. When I arrived, I asked them to install the unit and a backup camera. I can't recall how much time it took but it was done in a reasonable amount of time and I'm happy with their service. I called a few other shops around this time. A couple had other projects and couldn't get to me for a few months. A couple of others didn't want to touch the van because of its age, manufactured in 1989. Hot Tint was straight-forward. They said let them see what I have and they'll let me know if they could use what I had or needed something else. I appreciate that approach. I did have a couple of problems but they were responsive. While driving home, my radio rebooted twice. The cable came loose so they told me to return to the shop so that they could fix it. The second is my clock resets to 12:00 every time the vehicle is restarted. They told me to bring it by so that they can fix it but I haven't. I'm rarely on the screen to see the time and just had other priorities. I mention these items to show that they were responsive and willing to troubleshoot the problem. I rate them high also because there are many mechanics and technicians who can work on a classic vehicle but refuse to do so. There are a handful like Hot Tint that jumps right in and do the job. I'm finally ready to add an amp and subwoofer so I will be contacting them again soon.

I understand I was 39 minutes late, but the front desk representative repeatedly emphasized how important their time was, without considering other factors like traffic. The constant badgering made the situation uncomfortable and unprofessional. Ultimately, I decided to leave because the interaction didn't feel respectful or customer-focused. This is not the best way to treat a returning client who has had positive experiences before.

With some hesitation I went back to the ilx-670 and I can't tell you enough how pleased am with this choice. Byrd took the time and patience to reinstall a new radio/stereo with back up camera without hesitation. The overall sound and techs are on point!
