After owning our home for 31 years, we've had some good work done, and some disastrous work done. Because of that, there's aways been apprehension when we have to schedule work. Do they know what they are doing? Will they damage my property? Will they gouge me on the price? Today we had the most pleasant experience. We are having a gas insert installed through NW Natural Appliances and although we've barely used our wood-burning fireplace, I was concerned about creosote build up. I called, among other places, A Your Town Chimney in Washougal. I scheduled a fireplace sweep, and they came out today. When they arrived, they checked my fireplace and told me that I didn't need a sweep; it was clean. They could have easily done the job, charged me, and I would not have known any better. I think my jaw dropped, and I kind of stammered, and said, "So, what do we do?" thinking that they might charge us for scheduling and coming out. They said, "Nothing. It's clean." Wow. How often do you find honesty like that? We had them look at some other work on the fireplace that we knew needed doing but has to wait for dry weather, and we got a quote that was very responsible. I will definitely be using them come dry weather and passing the word on about a great company. I just had to share this wonderful experience with my neighbors, because when you find someone who is not only pleasant (as Colby and Austin were), but that they are knowledgeable and honest, too, it's info worth sharing. Bonus, they are family run, been in business forever, great reviews, etc. I highly recommend A Your Town Chimney in Washougal. read more
