Love this place! Been to several pottery shops in different states and they are my favorite! They have a wide variety of options and good pricing. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. I've painted there dozens of times and only one time did I have an issue where the piece came out of the kiln cracked. They said it would be fine and not chip, but it did. I took the piece back and they were quick to give me a replacement for free which I was very grateful for! I also LOVE that they offer pottery to go. That's often what I do since I paint bigger and more detailed pieces that take several hours so it's nice to be able to do from the comfort of my own home!

Well dang it, A Way with Clay has completely stolen my heart! I cannot think of a better way to spend a relaxing weekend, especially if you're not a big fan of the cold or snow or both. A great way to spend time with friends and family, and seriously, this makes SUCH a cute date. It's so simple. You are not required to make a reservation (they actually do not take reservations at this time). Upon walking in the first thing you'll probably notice is the enormous selection of clay pieces. They range from very small knick-knacks to large vases. It's totally affordable too, priced as low as $8 to as high as $80. Pick your piece, paint it however you like. The hardest part will be waiting the week-long period for it to be fired. My husband and I had so much fun picking our piece, choosing the colors and applying them! I was so stoked to pick them up! The glaze goes on very light, because the clay sort of "absorbs" it, so I didn't really know how my creation would turn out. What an awesome surprise! My piece is the ghost plant ($22.00) and my husband painted the plant pot ($20.00). We are totally in love with A Way with Clay. I'm already setting dates up with friends and family so I can bring home more adorable creations and to have fun! I hope this small business THRIVES. It deserves every single award and all the recognition in the world. Thanks for bringing such a fun activity to the Treasure Valley, guys. I can't wait to be back!

I felt a little daring and decided to take my well behaved 5 year old and massively destructive 2 year old BY MYSELF to paint clay. I'm happy to report that we broke nothing and only got paint on three chairs. We decided that this was the perfect place to make grandparent and teacher gifts. This cute DIY store is located on Fairview Ave, next to Great Harvest Bread and the Wild Bird Habitat stores. So you can grab a cookie, listen to the hundreds of birds chirping and enjoy a crafty afternoon. Three birds, one stone. Oooo...poor taste? Anyway, my daughters delighted in looking at all the unfinished clay pieces and making their selections. They have seasonal options (when we went they had fall and Christmas pieces), plus all the other standard selections - vases, mugs, figurines, knick knacks, and platters. We made our selection and a very nice young lady set out water and place settings at a table (well distanced from other parties). I will say we could have used a much more sturdy drop cloth than the paper place mats that we got. That might be a good option to provide when people come in with smaller kids. Or am I the only idiot who does that? We picked out our colors (so many choices) and got to work. Don't forget to do at least 3 layers and try to evenly cover the entire piece. It will look chalky when you paint, but will dry shiny and vibrant in the kiln. I'm pretty impressed with the amount of coverage we got while I desperately tried to stop the toddler from licking her paint brush. The 5 year old's favorite part were the puffy paint details at the end. She made eye balls, wrote her name and added puffy lines on her creation. We left our pieces on the table and picked them up a week later! I forgot to take pictures of the finished product, but we really had fun. This would be a really great gift card idea or maybe a creative date night!

A lovely little spot designed to bring out your creative inner genius. Pottery and painting available, we attended a teen birthday gathering here that was a lot of fun. Friendly service, lots of options for paints, projects all intended for you to create your custom design with fun. Plenty of parking, near the Village in Meridian.

My daughters are the cupcakes and my sons is the penguin and mine is the elephant there so fun

Well, this project was so well planned and easy to execute that my daughter's turned our looking fabulous! Later, family members had difficulty determining whom had made which. If you plan to bring children (which is likely, painting pottery is for kids)...go somewhere else!…read moreI should have read the reviews before taking my boys this evening. Every thing we experienced is in other's reviews and apparently the manager and owner just offer excuses. SO BUMMED that with their great location on the Plaza, they ended up being unprofessional, rude, overpriced and not kid-friendly! The overall vibe is dry, creepy and uncomfortable-No A/C and the staff are extremely rude, awkward and should not be working with customers. They don't explain where the restrooms are and were not helpful when we needed extra supplies. The young teen boy working the desk watched my 6 year old like a hawk and would rush to the table and tell him to not use so much paint anytime he squeezed literally ONE extra drop of paint in his tray than he thought he should. You never reprimand a child, that is the parent's job. And absolutely inappropriate when the child isn't doing anything wrong! I have never felt so nickel and dimed over literally a SQUEEZE of paint, especially when paying $25 for small items? Very unprofessional and the worker continued to do so after I asked him not to and addressed he was not using too much paint as we were sharing the colors. See photo-this is absolutely not too much paint to use for 2 people! Appalling way to treat customers. My son accidentally knocked into a shelf (which is easy to do, there is no walking room everything is stuffed in super tight and uncomfortably) and the manager let out a huge sigh and rolled her eyes. I immediately told her that her behavior was inappropriate and he did nothing wrong, however he was already shamed by her and got upset and embarrassed. I asked to speak to the manager which happened to be the same woman and I told her how unimpressed I was with our service and treatment. She offered no apology and burst into tears and said her grandparents are dying and she literally ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut and never left the entire time we were there (another 30 minutes). No resolution of any kind was offered - she literally hid from us! So I paid my $70(!) ticket and got the owner's contact information, however, based on other reviews, I doubt it will help!

NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!…read more NOT MOM FRIENDLY! Maybe, not even human friendly! Dawn asked me to pay her power bill, not fold a sponge and don't you dare leave her paint brushes in water... Only a dab of paint in the circle- which is understandable as Dawn just paid for all our paint. went to paint ceramics with my mother and daughter and the owner of fire and ice screamed at my daughter and expected me to allow her to correct my daughter with negativity and hatred. I don't believe that anybody should own a paint store that cannot handle children. I felt very uncomfortable as Dawn was very unprofessional and her approach to handle a six-year-old. There are just some people that should never be around children because they're abusive verbally and I can see that very clearly with this woman. Having the audacity to tell me that I'm a bad mother was not a smack in the face because I know who I am.. I know where I'm going.. and I know what I stand for.. I won't allow anyone to abuse my child especially some ragged worn out women. Thank I hope your satisfaction in screaming at me was worth it Dawn because your still loved by Jesus! Hope he works on your heart! Love you Dawn and I'll be praying extra hard for you! A lot more love and less negativity especially treating Idaho Natives awful. Get some rest, you need it. Again, If you hate children, post no children allowed!
