I'm updating my review for a few reasons. First, John is no longer the store manager (he was wonderful and fabulous with the customers). I'm not sure why he is no longer there, but that was a significant loss. Second, I was charged to get the screw fixed in my sunglasses. I purchased my sunglasses and my regular glasses from A Visual Affair and have been a customer over the past 15 years. This is the first time I've been charged to fix glasses I purchased from the store. After several years of seeing Dr. Bindal and his team, I can honestly say their kind manner and thorough care for my eye health still continues to prove strong. Today was my first visit to the eye doctor. I had filled out the required forms beforehand, clearly indicating that I did not want to do the two optional tests that cost $39 each. However, when I arrived, the optometrist performed these tests without asking, and I reluctantly agreed to pay the $39 for each of them. Thankfully one of the machines was broken so I only paid $20. Next, we moved on to the contact lens exam, which was the main reason for my visit. I had requested my contact lens prescription both on the phone and in person. Unfortunately, during this part of the exam, I felt extremely rushed. The optometrist barely gave me two seconds to decide between "one" and "two" I was disappointed by the lack of thoroughness. Even claiming that my eyesight had improve by .25 which it's such a small amount that if she hasn't rushed me then it might have been + .25 and not -.25 The rush continued, and I felt like I blinked, and I was already being ushered out of the office to pay. To make matters worse, when I reviewed my bill, it was surprisingly high. I noticed that the invoice separated the "eye exam" from the "contact fitting," even though there was no actual fitting done. It seemed like I was getting charged for two different exams instead of one. The optometrist simply relied on the machine's prescription, didn't give me time to respond, and handed me contacts. To add to the confusion, she mentioned upgrading my glasses, even though I know that glasses and contacts require different exams. Which led me to believe they mislead me and perform "both exams" without my consent. Which is what it seem to be reflecting in the itemized invoiced I requested This experience left me feeling like I had been taken advantage of, and it was unlike any eye exam I've had in my 15 years of wearing contacts. To top it off, the original invoice had an error, with the receptionist mistakenly listing a one-year supply of contacts instead of the six months I requested, and she didn't even offer an apology. Needless to say, I won't be returning to this eye clinic, and I'm considering switching back to Visionworks, where I've had better experiences in the past. read more

The good: Dr. Shannon Lee was very nice, patient, and helpful. The bad: - Terrible price transparency practices. If you do go, please be sure to ask for a full list of potential prices upfront, or you will likely be surprised at checkout. - Staff who have a very hard time taking no for an answer when saying you are not interested in purchasing any glasses. I'm sure this stems from poor management (i.e. see unprofessional and defensive responses on reviews, especially on Google Reviews). + the canary in the coal mine: they're buying their good reviews. Neeraj Bindal did a great job of testing my eye health and getting me a prescription. Bianca did a great job helping me buy glasses.

I'm still a patient here and still do not have any complaints! I come every 6 months and it is quick and efficient. They have handled COVID-19 reopening with ease. Masks are required and gloves are not permitted inside. I have witnessed them sanitize equipment before and after use. This was also the standard prior to covid. If you're looking for an office that's professional, well organized, and efficient then I highly recommend. read more

I am a retired Dentist. I was on vacation in the DC area and accidentally stepped on my glasses! I was lucky and found this glasses facility and asked if someone could help me. The receptionist said that the Doctor was not in yet, but one of the nice assistants said she would try and do the best she could. After about 5 minutes, she came out and my glasses were like new!! I tried to offer her some renumeration, but she said no and was just happy to help. What a great experience and wonderful to know there are still extremely nice people in this world. read more

There are so many reasons to write this review. My son and I are both patients. Everyone is so helpful, accommodating and genuinely nice. Helen worked with my son to get his testing and had him laughing. She made him feel comfortable and he said he likes coming here. It's so disappointing to have to update my review to share my/our UNACCEPTABLE customer service from the young man who fitted us for our glasses on both visits. I noticed during the last visit that I handed him my license and when he was finished with it, I reached to get it from his hand and he intentionally bypassed my hand and placed it on the table in front of me. I was bothered, I admit but, I chose to overlook it and thought it may be an isolated issue. Well, when my husband and I returned today to pickbup our glasses, the same young man was sitting at the fitting desk and so, I spoke with him and gave our names and he went to get our classes. I also reminded him about our gift cards that we didn't get on our first visit. He came back with our glasses and I reached for mine and he bypassed my extended hand and placed them on the table in front of me. He walked away and came back with our gift cards and I again reached my hand to retrieve them and he bypassed my hand and placed them in front of me on the table. After he assisted us, he hung back away from us and watched us leave. I shared my displeasure with my husband and he said, he experienced the same disrespectful behavior from him the last time we were there. And this is why we have decided to make this visit our last time doing business with such a beautiful and pleasant establishment, - Visual Affairs in Arlington. The front of the house is crucial and it goes hand-in-hand with great customer service! Showing us the same courtesy and respect is a must to have our repeat business and positive feedback.
