Had issues with my new lenses (first time I've had to go back after getting new lenses); they got me in as soon as possible; rechecked my eyes; adjusted the prescription; redid the lenses;and now I have no problems seeing, especially on the computer! I saw Dr. Elnaz Taslim-Saravi at this location and she was excellent. Very thorough, took the time to listen closely to what I was saying, explained her thought process well, and provided several options. She also comes across like she actually cares about what she is doing, which I certainly can't say about other optometrists I've seen in the last few years. She had me try on different contacts on the spot - which I haven't had happen before at other eye exams. This resulted in making a substantial correction to my prescription and my vision is much better. Dr. Taslim-Saravi was the best optometrist I've seen and I would highly recommend her. read more

I got Dr. Goldberg a while ago and I think he was pretty good. More recently I had an appointment with Dr. Steteklu and he was okay but seemed a little pushy about all the stuff I would need for my contacts and glasses or I'd go blind or something. You really don't need all their convenience care packages and such. read more

I needed to get some new glasses, so obviously, my first step was to check out Yelp to find out the best optometrist in the DC area. The My Eye Dr. shop in Capitol Hill seemed to get great reviews, so I decided to visit there first. I was fairly certain about a specific ProDesign frame that I wanted but in the chance that I didn't like it, I didn't want to make a commitment to buy it. My Eye Dr. said that if I didn't like the frame, I could exchange it for a new one, but they wouldn't give me an outright refund. I thought that was pretty lame, so I took my business elsewhere. I sent emails to various optometrists in the DC area asking if 1) they carried ProDesign frames and 2) they did not require a commitment to buy if they had to order it for me. Dr. Goldberg's office responded to my email within a day and said they'd be willing to order the frame for me with absolutely no commitment to buy and no requirement of deposit either. I asked them to order the frame for me and I liked it so I decided to go with it. I had my eye exam. Dr. Goldberg does have an interesting personality. He kinda reminds me of Toby from The Office, both in appearance and mannerism. So yes, I could see how some people may think he comes across as "indifferent" but I think that's unfair. At the end of the exam, he asked me if I had any questions. I asked him a few, and he took his time to thoroughly address my questions. I didn't feel as though he didn't care. I had the lenses made and went to pick up my glasses. I guess I'm not used to wearing plastic frames but it took a lot of tweaking to get it to feel right on my face. I even came back a few days later for some additional tweaking. Then I noticed that one side of the frame was a bit twisted, so I brought it in again and they said they couldn't fix it but offered to send it back to the manufacturer in exchange for a new one. The new one came in just a few days later. In total, I went in to their office four times, partially because of my obsession with getting the frames to fit just right and they were super patient with me throughout all of it. Their entire staff is wonderful. I never felt pressured at any point to get things I didn't want and I asked for a copy of my prescription in case I need to order glasses again in the next year -- they had no qualms about doing that for me. In the end, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this office. Also, if you are Asian and want plastic frames, I highly recommend checking out the ProDesign frames. They offer the option of getting nose pads that most Asian people need on plastic frames on all of their plastic frame models -- these are added onto the frames at the time of manufacturing by ProDesign, so they blend in with the style of the frame and don't look like your typical "add on" nose pads that you would have to get for other brands' plastic frames. Since Dr. Goldberg's office is willing to special order any of the ProDesign frames for you without commitment to buy, this is a wonderful place to try them out. Also, if you're Asian, it's convenient having Grand Mart right across the street to do grocery shopping afterwards. read more

I've had several appointments (follow ups included) and they've always ran on time with very little wait time. Also, the experience of purchasing new glasses and contacts was a breeze. Karla at the front desk was so transparent and knowledgeable about the best way to use my insurance to purchase what I needed. Also Lisa was a charm to help me pick out the best frames and break down the costs for upgrades to the lenses. Karla and Lisa were fun and honest and gave me their personal opinions on which frames looked best for me too! Dr. Goldberg is a great eye doctor and would get five stars if not for his staff. They don't dress professionally and eat lunch at the front desk. I used to go here when I first moved to the area because they were in my insurance plan. Although the office is nice and there is plenty of parking, Dr. Goldberg always seemed indifferent to me as a patient - definitely not the best bedside manner (which is the main reason I switched). His staff were always really pushy about buying glasses and contacts from them and it was always difficult to get a copy of my prescription to buy my contacts online if I wanted to. Plus it's really inconvenient to get to by public transportation. read more

It was time for my annual eye checkup and I was able to an appointment within a few days. When I arrived I was able to see David within minutes. Found out we had both been to the Nationals Wild Card game the night before (Nats won) and agreed it had never been that loud before. Yes, 5 Stars for Dr. David Goldberg! He IS as Good as It Gets! His staff too! They are all 1st Class! My wife & I have been going to him for many years and All of the Optometrists here are Highly Professional. Yes, Dr. Goldberg is laid back but he certainly does care about his customers and prospective customers. They always have a large quantity of frames & contacts on hand but I've had them order contacts and receive prompt service. Be aware of what type of product you are receiving from the low cost discount shops. If you have a high index and use progressive lens, you want the best lens, not coke bottle bottoms! If they are not Your Optometrist....They should be! (No I'm not related to Dr. Goldberg or any of the other Doctors or Employees.....just a happy customer!). I always make an appointment but they may take walk-ins if the optometrist is free; ask them! read more

I needed glasses in 2011, and went to Dr Goldberg again, he examined my eyes and told me I needed glasses along with reading glasses. I did not want bifocals. The doctor wrote both prescriptions on my chart. after waiting for a month for my glasses, I called the office to confirm if they had returned and was told there was an issue at the processing plant so they would do a rush job for my glasses. I received the call that they were ready , but because I was traveling I would not have time to get them fitted properly but that was okay with me, I knew I could come back later. However while on my trip, I was driving and thought I would finally wear my new frames, well to my surprise I realized they had given me the prescription for the readers and not the seeing eye glasses, so I have a $200 pair of readers. I called the office to inform them of the mistake but because I had waited so long, to inform them of their mistake i was forced to keep the readers, I did not get the adjustments or try them on when I picked them up so I blamed myself but I am able to read my books with no problems, so I know the next time to ALWAYS get fitted and to confirm the prescription is correct. I meant to post this review a while ago but just got so busy, while I have no recourse to get new glasses, I felt someone would benefit from my visit, and to always remember to go back for the proper fitting read more
