I've been using this storage unit for a couple years now, and the only minor issue I've had with…read morethem is that their price has gone up over the last year. That's a bit of a bummer, but not totally unexpected or crazy or anything. This is a nice, clean, and safe facility (as far as I can tell!). Storage units always have a bit of a creepy factor no matter where they're located, especially if your unit is completely inside a building like mine. I will admit I feel a bit nervous every time I meander through the long identical hallways looking for my unit, and I feel like it'd be pretty easy to get lost in there... But you can always grab a map at the front desk or ask the staff to remind you which path to take! The staff has always been extremely helpful and readily available to answer questions, so you can count on that. Paying online is ultra easy and literally only takes two clicks once all of your payment information is entered. Just don't be late on your payment or they immediately tag on a $10 late fee. I do think this storage unit is a tad expensive, but again, nothing too out of the ordinary!

Brace yourself for an electrifying -- if true -- review…read more If you're of the opinion that all storage units are pretty much created equally, I definitely invite you to go visit a few and get back to me: simply put, there are a wide variety of shenanigans going down at some of these places, and it can be noted that I've been to some where there have been (and I am not making this up), open fires in the parking lot and chatter of side businesses that would seem hysterical were it not for the fact that the man's dentures were rattling around in abject seriousness while he spoke of such side businesses. This, of course, is a story for another time over beers, but for the time being, suffice it to say that I decided to err in favor of sanity and rented a spot at Eagle, French for That Place Where Your Stuff Is Safe. Along the way, I learned lots of things, not the least of which is that A) apparently for some reason folks are renting many more of the climate controlled units than they had been before. There were details as to why, but somewhere in the middle, admittedly I tuned that part out. And B) they are, as one might expect, pretty adamant about the security part of the equation here. That means that you have to punch your code into the gate to get in (not unusual) and then punch it again to get back out again (less usual). What that means is that if some random fellow decides to gun it out of the parking lot behind you after dropping off his stuff -- but doesn't use the keypad -- an alarm goes off tied to the unit he came in under. So that's fun. All protocols aside, the spaces are well kept and the management seems to be genuinely on top of what's up: if you get deliveries from such services (as I occasionally do), you can predetermine who is kosher to drop stuff in your space, and even should you be out of town you can have them place your stuff in your absence. And that's pro enough for me. Thanks, Eagle. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

This may be the most poorly run business in DFW. The 1 year old facility sparkles from the outside…read more- but don't be fooled, it's a poorly maintained and mis-managed nightmare. The drive-thru doors are regularly out of service for weeks at a time with no urgency to get them operational, hindering users. I don't visit my unit often, but I can't tell you the last time I did when there wasn't something broken down that inconvenienced me in what should have been a very quick and easy trip. On my last visit, both rollup doors were out of service and the manager had no real concern about it. Just kind of shrugged it off and said it takes a long time to get someone out to fix it. There is mold present and visible in common areas of the facility, a result of "the" water leak over a year ago I imagine. On three separate occasions now we have been startled by homeless people sleeping inside the secluded hallway near our storage unit, waking them up and setting them off to cuss us out for disturbing them. If there was someone sleeping right next to our unit, how many other people are in there hiding in the other areas of that large building? I don't blame them for trying to find a quiet and warm place to sleep, but if its that easy for them to get inside the "secure" areas of the facility, how safe are we when we go to retrieve things? How safe is our stuff? Clearly, not very. In our first year we have had our rate raised twice, every 6 months and we're now paying $10 more than what the unit cost initially, and what a new customer would walk in and get the same unit for. So the unit value isn't going up...just our bill. Their rates were already higher than nearby competitors when I got this unit, which I was ok with given it was closer to home and had a seemingly nicer, more accessible facility. But I was fooled by the sparkle of this new building, don't make the same mistake I did. TL;DR: This place is inconvenient to use due to poor maintenance and no urgency to fix accessibility issues. Its insecure, there are homeless sleeping inside regularly. There is mold, present for about a year now that poses a threat to our stuff. They regularly hike your rates approximately every 6 months despite all of their issues. UPDATE: I did try to resolve these issues with Extra Space's Customer Service, and was promised a call-back to address them within 1 or 2 days, but never received a call. Their customer service is lacking both at the facility location level and corporate.

Clean, air-conditioned unit [ check ] Is there anything else you need in a storage unit? Nope. MORE EXPLANATION: After moving, we realized we had too much stuff and needed a 10x5 storage unit. We did a quick deposit and claim online. It took minutes! Then, an email was sent to us with all the info needed to access the unit. Happy with how everything was panning out, we rolled over. However, when we got there, the unit was a bit of a surprise. It was a 10x5 unit but with a small door (not the most ideal for moving items in and out). I noticed there was other units available with bigger doors, so I thought... "Let's just ask if we can move units!" My husband was weary of this, but I advised him... "It's worth a shot! The worst they can do is say no. Let's go find someone!" When we got to the front desk, Jacob was there ready to help! He said, "That's not a problem! Let's fix this." In minutes, we were touring new units, transferring our lease and starting to move everything in. This would not have been possible without Jacob's professionalism, diligence and kindness. We are so grateful for his help! Extra thank you to Extra Space Storage for still having humans on site. It really makes a difference to consumers who need service.
