Pass this one by. Needed a touch up within two weeks after tattoo said they would take care of it. Waited a month. Tattoo artist left there and wouldn't tell me where she went. Said they didn't want anyone to do tattoo for free but would ask owner. Never heard back. Went somewhere else because they could care less about their customers. Had to pay for it but I don't care. Loved Charlie B and A Thin Line Tattoo! I am an older lady and decided to get my first ever tattoo, kind of part of my bucket list. Charlie did a small tattoo on my upper arm and he was so good and kind. I was nervous and he walked me through the whole process which was a pleasant experience. He told me that the anticipation was worse than the pain and he was absolutely correct. In fact, he created a monster as I plan to get more tattoos from him! He does beautiful design work and I am going to have him design something for me soon. If you've been hesitating about a tattoo, just do it, you're never too old and you won't regret it. I got my first tattoo rather late in life but the experience at this place changed a lot of my pre-conceived notions about tattoo parlors. The parlor is very clean and contemporary, all the staff and artists deal with you in a professional manner and you get comfort in the fact that they seem to take all the necessary precautions to reduce any potential for infections etc. My first tattoo required a lot of line work and Bill Sorensen did an unbelievable job and I have since gotten more pieces of art Bill on my back, left arm and my right shoulder. This was my first time getting a tattoo at A Thin Line Tattoo and I couldn't be happier. Walking in the place was very clean and I loved the jewelry display up front to look at (I'm already planning on getting a piercing, too). The girl up the front was also very nice and greeted us when we walked in. My artist was Adam and I am so thankful for his patience while I changed my mind several times on the tattoo I wanted. With his help I finally decided on what I wanted and how it would work best for me. The room itself was very nice--lots of creepy (but cool!) things on the wall to look at, and a nice little TV to watch. The whole place felt very clean. Once everything was all done Adam was very thorough in explaining the after care and answered any questions I had. I left there feeling overly happy and very confident in how great my tattoo looked. Got my third tattoo from Bill at thin line and am very pleased. Turned out exactly how I had envisioned. Made a consultation apt with the actual inking taking place about three weeks later. In the interim Bill and I communicated back and forth which resulted in my making about six changes and or additions. Throughout this entire exchange of e mails Bill was gracious and accommodating. Do not know if he was getting annoyed but if so then at no time did he show that towards me. Overall a wonderful experience like the previous two. I had gotten my tattoo here and left with very splotchy color. I notified the tattoo artist immediately as you see in my uploaded conversations. I was told to wait complete healing time. By the time my tattoo had healed the world was in a shut down due to the global pandemic going on with Covid-19. I was not going to take a health risk once they reopened 3 months after the shut down until I could do so safely and vaccinated. Once I was I contacted the shop. Never once was I told there was a timeline on getting my touch up until I reached out to schedule it. I was then told that they would do nothing even though there was a global pandemic preventing people from going into tattoo shops. Absolutely awful. I have attached conversations where never once was I given a time line. I contacted them three weeks after being vaccinated which happened to be two months past their time line. Nothing extended due to the shut down or the fact they were closed for three months. I'd definitely avoid this shop if this is how they treat repeat clients. read more

Literally one of the nicest shops I've been in. Most places have this pissy attitude like they are better than you. I had gotten my rook piercing done here and had been impressed with their tattoo work. So I finally decided on a tattoo on my foot I went in and talked to Scott. He was so cool and chill. I ended up making an appointment. When I got there, I asked the piercer a question about my nose ring and he was really nice. When the session started, obviously being in a lot of pain, I made funny noises. Scott was really cool and making me laugh. It was over really quick. He was so awesome, along with the entire shop. I would HIGHLY recommend the shop and Scott! Update: so I went back and brought my boyfriend and parents (they wanted tattoos too). We ended up having Brian as the artist and he was AWESOME! All of our tattoos are very well done (no scarring or fading). I ended up having the most time consuming piece out of the 4 of us. I just got my 40 something tattoo there and let me say the place is professional and clean as it gets. My tattoo artist Adam Tyler Zinanni is an ace at script. It's like he uses a typewriter it's so perfect. Out of all the places I've been they are the first to have my sign a piece of paper to double check that everything was spelled correctly. The staff is extremely nice and Adam was so cool and very patient with me. He went through all the texts the had available and even offered to check out more on a site they use. He placed the tensile on me three different times to get it exactly where I wanted it and he did it with a smile on his face. My man Adam is a master of inky designs. I was lucky enough to get paired with him my very first time and I've subsequently received a 3/4 sleeve from him and some chest work. His personality and passion for his job are evident. Plus, every single artist I've come into contact with have been great, too. My friend and I got tattooed back to back by the same artist (Abel) as walk-ins, so that was fantastic. The whole shop has a comfortable but professional atmosphere. The shop was clean and modern, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I can't say enough about Abel -- he's focused, approachable, funny, and most importantly, he does great work. I called A Thin Line in search of some advice about a piercing I got at another shop that had started to heal poorly. Kenny offered to let me come in and talk about the piercing in person. When I got to the shop, the first thing that I noticed was how clean it was. After consulting with Kenny for a while, he cleaned up the old piercing, took it out, and helped me pick out a new stud. There was a huge variety of high quality stones and designs that he had to offer. After putting the new sterlized stud in, he answered all of my questions thoroughly and told me to feel free to contact him in case of any issues. The friendly nature of the staff, cleanliness of the shop, and thorough nature of the artists' work really made an impression on me. If only zero stars were an option. They are not a kind staff. Ironically, I was not even a customer during the visit, just emotional support but the staff did not bother to ask why I walked in before kicking me out. I was not even allowed to sit in the waiting area which is an entirely separate room, my dog and I had to leave the building entirely. On their wall is a paper, printed from Word, not official whatsoever that says; 'No Service Dogs.' Licensed Service Dogs (mine is and I always carry the license as proof for situations like this) are allowed everywhere, even hospitals, which are far more sterile environments than tattoo shops. I'm a bit of a tattoo connoisseur and have never before had an issue with my Service Dog being in any tattoo shop in fact, he has always been preferred company. It is common sense that this is a nationwide law, a law that this tattoo shop blatantly ignores. Common sense is not that common at A Thin Line Tattoo. Their refusal to acknowledge this law specifically-the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, section 36.302-is illegal and cause for a major fine but I won't pursue that because the art quality there is subpar and I prefer to be tattooed at place with talent, creativity and skill that also has a welcoming atmosphere like Wasted Youth Tattoo or Supersauce, both are undoubtedly superior to A Thin Line Tattoo when it comes to service, quality and price. What a shame, kindness and consideration open many doors. Like an opportunity to be interviewed for a mainstream tattoo magazine, which I wrote for at the time. Ignorance and cruelty however, only attract negativity. read more

They did not write down my name or number. They just said to come in. I finally decided to get my first tattoo and found A Thin Line based on their great online reviews. I stopped in to ask a few questions and the receptionist was very patient and friendly. I went home to look through all of the artists and found Buddy's black and white work to be closest to what I was looking for. After not being able to get tattooed for a few years due to moving and having a kid, my wife gave me an ultimatum - either get back to work on my sleeve or lose my tattoo cred in her eyes...forever! Not wanting to lose cred, I started researching shops in my area. A Thin Line was the best reviewed and I liked the portfolios, so I went ahead and sent an email using the contact link. Alex and I spent some time going back and forth with scheduling and deposit requirements and I stopped by to put my money where my mouth is. Being that I am a pain in the ass, I showed up to the appointment with a flash piece and a car air freshener and informed the artist, Emily, that I wanted something totally custom on both...and gave her a budget cap. Not only did she draw me out a totally rockin Sailor Jerry style custom piece and phrase tattoo (separate tats), but she did it for under budget. Emily (and everyone else in the shop) was totally professional while being seriously OCD about getting the design perfect (definitely a compliment in this case). The shop staff (Emily, Alex, Hershey ((I think)), and Matt) that was on hand was a fun group to hang with and kept me laughing through the tattoo process (because, no one gets tatted because it feels good). The shop was clean, comfortable, artistic, and generally awesome. Each artist has their own little room with their own music, so there is total privacy if needed, or the doors can be opened and other artists can wander in and out. I will be back, and poor Emily is going to be stuck dealing with me being a tattoo pain in the ass for as long as I can keep generating funds for ink. I will also be sending as many referrals as I can to this shop. Just wanted to update: I have been going to Thin Line Plainfield for well over a year now working on a sleeve and I couldn't be happier. Whenever I am in for a session, any artists that aren't currently working come and hang out. I would count them among my buddies, now. Emily always takes the time to make sure the piece is as perfect as possible, and adds her expertise every time. We are now finishing up the background part of the forearm.
