I ordered a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, which was tasty, but it unfortunately was not very cold. However, the Specialty Pizza Romana was absolutely a stand out. I guess the dough for this pizza is fermented and aged?!? Don't recall the exact process, but it was delicious. The pizza featured both a vodka marinara sauce and also pesto. It was topped with mozzarella, mortadella, prosciutto, capicola and salami. It was like eating an Italian sub on top of a pizza. All of it just worked together and made for a damn tasty pizza big enough to feed 4 adults. We were gonna try some other menu items, but there was only 3 of us and we were full after the pizza. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Aside from the lukewarm beer, we were joined at the table by an unusual amount of flies! I worked in restaurants and bars for years. I know flying pests are not completely in your control, but we spent a lot of time "shooing" and trying to swat pesty flies from the time the pizza hit the table until we took our last bite. Again, not a deal breaker, but more of an annoyance that prevented this from being a perfect lunch.

We stopped here while heading home from spring break, looking forward to a solid Italian meal after seeing a decent number of reviews (around 3.9). While that rating didn't concern us initially, unfortunately our experience reflected why it sits there. Upon arrival, we were seated in an extremely cold section of the restaurant--so cold that it was physically uncomfortable (to the point of chattering). After requesting a move, we were reseated, which was appreciated. From there, the service and execution quickly declined. All of our food arrived at once--salad, appetizers, and entrées together. When I addressed this, the server stated that I had approved everything being fired at once, which was not accurate. More importantly, pacing a meal is a fundamental responsibility of the restaurant, not the guest. Once the food arrived, several issues became immediately apparent: * We were missing basic utensils (no knives, limited silverware) * The chicken wings were served with no sauce * The black garlic Caesar salad lacked all of the essential components--no Parmesan, no anchovy, no egg, no acidity, and no seasoning. It was inedible and sent back. * The chicken piccata had no piccata sauce or capers--just what amounted to plain chicken and buttered pasta * The carbonara (with added chicken) arrived without the chicken When these issues were brought to the server's attention, the response was argumentative rather than solution-oriented. By the time corrections were made, the food had gone cold. The replacement sauce for the piccata had a strong burnt flavor, as if prepared in an unclean pan, which made it unpleasant to eat. The only dish that met expectations was the spaghetti and meatballs. As a restaurant owner myself, I understand that mistakes can happen--but this was a breakdown across both front-of-house and kitchen execution, along with a lack of accountability in service. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality Italian food or professional service.
