This was not my visit here. Every time I've been it's been a great experience, however today was a different story. I went in because I needed a bra fitting along with a new bra. Upon entering there was a group of woman there being helped so I was expecting a wait. I walked all the way to the back before being approached by the older lady that works there. She simply stared at me before asking me what I needed. When I told her what I needed she rudely responded with "oh....well it's going to be at least an hour in a half to two hour wait" No apology, no questions, no "do you want to wait" so I left. I had to drive an hour to get there and since it is one of the only places that carries my sizes I will have to go back but I was very disappointed with the customer service I received, or lack there of. read more

If you know anything about me, know that I am passionate about bra fit. Ladies, if you have never been properly fitted for a bra (big box lingerie store fitting doesn't count!), DO IT. You'll feel like a new woman when you find your correct size - it can be life changing! First let me say that this is not a review for the actual store, as I have never been there. I order online, and I have also talked with Erica over the phone. Ordering on the web site is a breeze. I like that they have sizing tips and fitting advice. When you're signed up for emails, there aren't too many and there's always tons of useful information in them - including sales, reviews, fitting tips, bra care, etc. If you follow her on Facebook, you'll find she posts relevant, interesting links (loved that piece by Johnny Zapp!). Even though I have never met her, Erica is someone I admire. Kudos to her for opening a much needed store like this! She's extremely professional and so friendly. Do yourself a favor and never buy another bra anywhere else. Erica is the absolute best at both fitting you and selecting a variety of options based ok what you're looking for. She takes all the guess work out of finding a good quality bra. If they don't have what you need, or you would like a different color option, they will order it hassle and commitment free- they call you when it comes in so you can return to try it on, and if it doesn't end up working, there's no obligation to buy; they will just restock it. I will be forever grateful to the girlfriend that introduced me to this place! It's well worth the 40 minute drive from my house, and I have a sizable wishlist for my next few visits =) read more

As a woman blessed with more cuppage then others, it is hard to find good quality support for the girls. I can finally say that my search to find good quality support has ended. A Sophisticated Pair exceeded my expectations on bra shopping. You're probably thinking it's just a bra shop....well you would be wrong!!! I have found my bra guru in the owner Erica. She is knowledgable about her product, makes you feel at ease during the process (yes buying a bra once you enter the F cup and above range is a process), and is available to her customers after you are done shopping. Here's what to expect when you first visit the store: 1. First you are greeted by Eric and her aunt (gotta love a family owned business). 2. Erica takes you back to the fitting rooms where she will either measure you for your perfect fit or if you know your correct size she will find you a vast selection of various styles. 3. After trying on all that Erica has brought back for you (she does check on you after each style) you then get to a test run. 4. The test run consist of trying on your favorite style and wearing it under your clothes while Erica explains all your options in the various catalogues. The shop doesn't carry all the styles that are available, but Erica can order what you like in your correct size and ship it to you for free!! 5. Once you pick out what you want to buy/order Erica will compile a list of other styles that you like but probably can't afford to buy all at once and keep a list for you for future orders. Erica will also use that list as an email newsletter to let you know what new styles so you never miss out on your wish list. Obviously, I will be back to shop there and I hope I have saved someone from the dreaded 3rd boob. read more

Do you have boobs? You need to go to A Sophisticated Pair as soon as you possibly can! I went in today because I can't remember the last time I bought a bra, and recently my back has been hurting and my boobs have been sore - both which I attribute to the worn out, ill-fitting bra I had strapped on me. I've had really bad/embarrassing fitting experiences in the past, and so I definitely found myself sitting in my car trying to psyche myself into going in for a few minutes. There was no need! I was immediately greeted by a kind employee who asked me what had brought me in. She let me know that Erica (the store's owner & fitting expert) was just finishing up with a customer, and she invited me to either have a seat or browse. I could tell the customer Erica was working with was really pleased with the experience, and I was immediately at ease. The shop was very cute, very clean, and well organized - 0 intimidation. The employee (whose name I didn't get, which is a shame because she was just delightful!!) brought me back to a dressing room, and explained Erica would be right in. You *need* Erica to help you with your bra fitting!! I told her I was a little embarrassed (and in pain) with my current bra situation, and she was quick to assure me it was a judgement-free zone. We discussed my preferences, she took my measurements and eyeballed the situation, and came back with a bra that fit perfectly! I'd been shoving my poor boobs in a 38D when I border on a 38DDD/E!!! Her employee came back a moment later with 3 more bras in nude (I think to make sure we'd nailed the size), and then the bras just started raining in! All different shapes, colors, fabrics, and styles! I had told Erica that I didn't know what exactly I was looking for (aside from "a new bra") so she did a great job of pulling all different varieties. The selection was HUGE and so much fun (which I'm not used to having a larger-than-C cup). I found so many bras that I liked that I started to become nervous (even at her reasonable prices, bra's ain't cheap!) I didn't say anything, though, and simply figured we'd duke it out at the register. However, at one point, Erica told me that any bras I liked but didn't want to go home with she would note in my file, so that I could come back for them some other time, or they could be used as "wishlist items" (the Boyfriend is always looking for gift ideas, so this is perrrrfect!). I ended up leaving with 5 bras and spending right at $250. Erica was very clear about what was on sale, and even made sure to check that I was ok with one of he bras being on final sale (and 50% off cha-ching!). She'll also order styles & colors for you if she doesn't happen to have them in house. A+ experience, I will absolutely be back! Her employee noted at the register that I'd come in looking worried and was leaving with a smile on my face - if that doesn't sum up my experience I don't know what else could! read more

I'm a huge fan of this place. Erica is fantastic -- when 1 of my bras broke (because of a manufacturing defect), she said she'd take care of contacting the company and gave me a replacement for the bra right away. She was also great during the fitting process. If you are a woman with a larger size bust, you should definitely check this place out. I drove all the way from Wake Forest, to have a personalized bra fitting with Erica, after reading the other positive reviews online. She was absolutely terrific. She not only made the fitting experience less awkward than one might expect, she helped me figure out what would work best for me. As an added bonus, she shared a lot of great info (blogs, tips, etc.) in a follow-up email. Oh, and did I mention that she kindly offered to open her store early just for me so I could make my next appointment back home? And is shipping the bras that weren't in stock for free? After a few years of struggling to find a great bra store and bras that are pretty, supportive, and fit well, I have found both in one place! As a former Victoria's Secret employee, I can tell you that the ladies at A Sophisticated Pair know what they're talking about, especially when it comes to a larger bust size. Erica was so friendly and helpful- she found tons of bras for me and helped me check the fit on every single one until I was satisfied. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a wonderful return policy, as well as 10% off if you want to pre-order styles from a catalog (with no obligation to purchase if you end up not liking it), AND she offered to ship me bras for free since I am moving to Greenville, NC in the next couple months. I went to the bra patch first and was very disappointed. After reading online reviews I decided to drive the 65 miles (one way) to Burlington and try out Sophisticated Pair. I was greeted immediately even though there were a lot of customers in the store. The girl introduced herself and offered a free fitting or help if I needed it. She let me look around without pressuring me or following me. Once I was done looking at all the beautiful bras I got a fitting. The fitting was perfect, she pulled me styles I was interested in and helped me with correctly putting myself into the cups. I found a number of bras I liked and asked about different colors. They don't carry all colors or too many multiple sizes but they do custom orders and give 10% of for the inconvenience. When I told her I lived out on the other side of Durham, she offered to ship the bras to me for free when they come in! I can not praise them enough for how far they go to make the customer happy. I really enjoyed the visit which is a first for bra shopping. I left in such a good mood that the drive back flew by. They took down all my information and said I could call in to order bras without having to make the drive. I do not write many reviews myself BUT rely heavily on others that do when trying to find a product or service for myself. So here it goes! Erica, co-owner of Sophisticated Pair, is an exceptional person/entrepreneur! To make a long story short I had not had a professional bra fitting ever in my life. I mostly did OK with store bought bras fitted by myself until last year. So I then started to research and decided a "professional fitting" just might be a good thing. Unfortunately I do not live in North Carolina. So I went to two big department stores and two "so called" lingerie shops (one a bigger national chain) for fittings here in Virginia. All of the fittings and bras that I purchased turned out to be way too big in the cup and band, too small in the cup and big in the band, good in the cup but too big in the band and too big in the cup and good in the band. What a mess and expense! So then I started to research how to properly fit a bra, read just about every blog out there, and found Erica's website and "bra calculator". Unfortunately for myself, I do not live in North Carolina and so I emailed Erica for help. She listened, asked questions and suggested. Any woman living in North Carolina is very lucky! I now have bras that "fit" and will continue to purchase all of mine from her by mail order. (Maybe someday there will even be a "road trip". We (consumers) have done ourselves such an injustice by not realizing that with small businesses we get VALUABLE information, knowledge and help. None of which can be had through big box stores and big department stores. Those employees are always coming and going and therefore very little experience is built up. I try, whenever I can, to shop small businesses and to respect that in order for them to prosper and be there for me when I need help, that I also need to buy from them to keep them in business. I have never set foot in the store yet sadly, and I hope to someday. I am writing this review because I have been a repeat customer for at least a few years. The customer service here is amazing. Erica is the best bra fitter in the world, and she is also an all around wonderful human being. This place offers five star customer service with a very intelligent, compassionate lady running the store. I would never shop anywhere else. They offer online fittings as well if you can't be in the store. Erica is very good at finding you the right size, knowing which brands to try, and just over all customer service. Being a bigger busted girl of 32 GG I have a difficult time finding bras that fit. I travel to Durham/Raleigh for Winston Salem. When my grandmother called about this store opening in Burlington, I was skeptical. Another Layne Bryant? Victoria Secrets? Dillards? Nordstrom? Bra Patch? No, this store is none of those. This store gets it! They understand that I don't want to be shoved and crammed into a smaller cup. They embrace my figure and carry/special order sizes that fit me. Erica which was my sales lady refused to let me leave the store with a bra that I was going to settle for. Instead, she ordered me the right size! When it came in I was like WHOA! If you live in NC and wear bras, you need to go to this store!!! The owner, Erica, prides herself on a store with an incredibly wide range of sizes to fit real people with all different sorts of breasts. She and her lovely aunt are friendly, kind, and accepting. On my first trip here, I was surprised by the chic interior decor, the wide selection of bras, and the attentive, bright atmosphere. It's not overly sexualized like many lingerie stores can be; it makes people of all shapes and sizes feel proud of their curves, whatever shape they take. Erica took a full hour to find me the perfect bra style that doesn't cut into my shoulders and accommodates my shape! Throughout the process, she offers her honest and expert opinion about what looks amazing and what does not. She will not tell you a terrible fit looks great. She is an expert on individual fit preferences and quibbles. So many stores will put you in the closest bad fit they have with a large band and small cup, declare you look great, ignore your concerns about lack of support and coverage, and send you out the door. That won't happen here! My chest has never been better dressed! Erica has been with me through many different sizes. She is very practical about what you need to buy if you are experiencing changes, and she is very respectful about your budget. I strongly recommend the Comexim bras; they are the holy grail of undergarments and worth every penny. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this store is! When I walked in and spoke to her and Aunt and I said we will see before going into the dressing room..her aunt said to me you will be satisfied today...well she was right I am a customer as long as they are a business! I've been annoyed with my bras for a while now. Straps slipping, underwire irritation, silhouette just looking "off" under certain fabrics, etc, but to be honest, I don't think I've ever had a comfortable bra. I've basically always assumed that bras were meant for function, not comfort. I've been "measured" before at big box stores and department store lingerie departments, and I am average sized, so I didn't think I needed to visit a specialty shop for fit. But then I read an article about the whole process online, which prompted me to subreddit, which really got me thinking that I needed to approach this whole undergarment thing from another angle. Along those lines, I decided to look for specialty shops, which led me to visit A Sophisticated Pair. Now, to have a boutique like this in Alamance County is pretty spectacular, but to also have a proprietor like Erica is just out of this world. There is a vast selection of all sizes and types of bras, as well as panties, accessories, pajamas, stockings, and lingerie, and if she doesn't have it in your size or color, she can order it for you, but she'll spend the time working with you to be sure you pick something that you really like that fits you as if it were made just for you, During my first visit, I was measured (at a strap size smaller and a cup size larger than I'd been wearing), educated on fit, and then provided with about 2 dozen bras in various styles and coverages to try on. Erica would offer feedback on fit, adjust the straps, and provide information on color options for each one. She encouraged me to evaluate them from all angles, to bend/twist/move in them, and to view them under my shirt, so that I really could see if it fit well and gave me the look I was aiming for. It was completely unrushed and and in fact, I took so long that I ran out of time and had to come back again the next day. After I'd narrowed down my choices, Erica offered to make a list of the bras that I really liked, so that I could refer to them later, or to keep as a wish list of sorts, in case my husband wanted to buy me some as gifts. I ended up buying two bras from her right then, and ordered a third in a color that she didn't carry. The bras that I selected were all between $30-55 each, so not at all out of line with chain stores and department stores. After you buy your first bra, you get $10 off your next purchase, and it's already listed on your account, so you don't need to carry a coupon around with you or anything. My ordered bra arrived about a week and a half later, but before I had the chance to claim it (over the last few days before Christmas), my husband went in to buy it and one more as a gift, and he didn't need to guess on sizing or anything, because of the wish list! I got 3 different styles in 4 bras, and all of them are beautiful, comfortable, and the fit they offer is just spectacular. I feel like I not only got products I needed with a look/feel that I wanted, but that I also got a tutorial in bra fit that I can apply in the future. I really can't believe how much I love these things. Since my visits, I've gone through all of my bras, throwing all but 2 of them away as back ups, and I've been on the phone telling my mom, grandma, and girlfriends about how life changing it has been for me to have good fitting bras, and recommending that they go out and get fitted asap. So now I'm telling you, Yelpers. A properly fitting bra is a game changer. A Sophisticated Pair is so good that I refuse to purchase bras anywhere else! As a proud owner of a pair, it is very important to me to have an excellent fit that is supportive and comfortable. Unfortunately, I found that all the large retail stores I have visited attempts to sell me items that are far too large in the band and very unsupportive. Enter A Sophisticated Pair! The owners are friendly, kind, supportive, professional, knowledgeable, and patient! During my first two visits, the owner Erica took a full hour to fit me out properly! She made me feel comfortable and very much at home. She listened carefully to my concerns and needs, and she did not rest until we'd found the perfect fit! Erica solved all my fit problems, and she even keeps notes for each client so that every time I return, we can remember what fit well, what I loved but wanted to buy next time, and what I might like next! Erica has also been helpful and honest with me (given my particular fit issues) in advising me to spend more and have a couple bras I really love than to buy the less-expensive bras that aren't quite as good of a fit for me. And sure enough, the less-expensive garments I purchased usually end up in the back of my drawer, second to the beautiful handmade favorites I've purchased from her store. They practically defy the laws of physics! The interior of the store is chic, airy, and stylish! It also offers seating for patient partners who have come along for the ride.
