You charged me $173 for imaging, $116 for the oral evaluation, $119 for the cleaning, and $34 for flouride. You couldn't run my insurance and tell me what you expected the cost would be? I have never been to a dentist who couldn't tell me what to expect to pay with a basic service. I wanted a night guard. They only told me how much it would cost when I asked them when scheduling the follow-up appointment for the night guard: $1000! Were they going to let me schedule an appointment that would cost me $1000 out of pocket and not tell me? Yep. They didn't even think twice about it. Goodbye, San Juan. I will be taking my business and my husband's elsewhere for no other reason than transparency with billing. I will ensure everyone who asks for a dentist referral knows not to go to you. I'm writing this review to share my unfortunate experience, in hopes of helping other parents make informed decisions. My daughters, ages three and four, initially had positive visits for their six-month cleanings. The staff was kind, attentive, and fantastic with kids, and Dr. Pinkerton herself seemed professional and caring. However, beneath the surface of her friendly demeanor lies an alarming level of greed and a questionable approach to pediatric care. At our most recent visit, Dr. Pinkerton recommended cutting my three-year-old's tongue tie, describing it as a simple procedure involving numbing, cutting, and stitching. It was presented as no big deal. I had my doubts and decided to consult my cousin, a speech-language pathologist. Keep in mind my daughter has never had an issue with latching to the breast for breast feeding, eating or speaking. She strongly urged me to get a second opinion from Sandra Coulson, an orofacial myologist (a kind of physical therapist for the face). During a telehealth consultation with Sandra Coulson, she adamantly advised against the procedure, citing that tongue ties should not be cut after the age of one and before the age of five. Instead, she recommended Orofacial physical therapy to address any issues. This alternative approach was not even mentioned by Dr. Pinkerton. In addition I let my pediatrician know what Dr. Pinkerton's recommendation and she said I was not the first parent to tell her that Dr. Pinkerton wanted to cut a child's tongue ties. Thus raising serious concerns about whether her recommendation was genuinely in the best interest of my child or driven by financial motives. I can no longer trust Dr. Pinkerton to provide care for my children. While her practice boasts a state-of-the-art facility, her push for unnecessary procedures feels more like a profit-driven agenda than ethical dentistry. Parents, please do your research and trust your instincts. Don't let a slick smile and modern equipment cloud your judgment when it comes to your child's well-being. **Verdict:** Dr. Pinkerton is fired. Seek care elsewhere. august 17th, 2026 i…read moream writing this 5 star review because dr. miner took the time and care to talk to me about sleep apnea and that i swallowed incorrectly etc. i immediately because of his care..decided to pay for an informal sleep study at home which showed i had very low blood oxygen...i did not understand at the time and thought i had to have a formal overnight sleep study at mercy....which is impossible to get as my insurance company fights those all the way....anyways, i could have gotten a second study which would have confirmed my chronic sleep apnea with intermittent hypoxia meaning i stop breathing altogether in the night on and off and that puts a lot of un-needed stress on my heart and rest of my organs. thanks to dr. miner....he educated me further on my cleaning today that mercy will always state you need a cpap machine as that is all they know about and he educated me about a study that was done showing that the only real way to get a clear airway is by getting a "mandibular advancement device" and get a referral from the sleep specialist who i believe you can get a referrral thru his second study sleep check....as you must have a referral for a dentist to create the personalized mouth piece. now that i finally have the truth about cpap vs. non cpap and that the sleep study tech only knows cpap and is not medical...nor does the sleep specialist necessarily know all things mouth related per the dentist.....i feel confident that the way to go to clear my airway at night is to get a referral from the sleep specialist who did my overnight mercy study and tell them i specifically want this "mandibular advancement device" for my mouth and to have a dentist who is knowledgeable like dr. miner to put that in for me! so....thank you so much dr. miner for spontaneously teaching me about all things sleep apnea/ snoring/ intermittent hypoxia where my body stops breathing during the night etc etc...plus info on a myofunctional therapist who is knowledgeable in sleep disorders and sleep disorder breathing who i can work online with to learn how to properly swallow and breathe. also fun educational fact that is so important: 80% of americans have some form of sleep disorder and they go undiagnosed because their pcp says absolutely nothing about overnight sleep studies....and this can create even in children add/adhd...plus take at least 10 years off your life as your heart gets stressed every night with lack of oxygen. you may "think" you are getting your sleep ...but until you definitely get an in home sleep study and then a second one to verify...you have zero idea yourself....it's like having cancer and not knowing it until you do a collateral test to rule out sleep disorder! i wish my pcp's would have told me over the past 5 years plus i have been complaining of lack of sleep...they are like: hear no evil, see no evil, speak nothing .....educated yourself....make an appointment with dr. miner to help you with your snoring, sleep issues....he will set you straight and get you back to sleeping for real at night and extend your life by a good 10 years! god bless dr. miner...keep on educating.....as the pcp's are doing zero on this....they don't want the insurance co to have to pay for sleep studies.....they took an oath though of do no harm and they are harming by not educating....dr. miner is keeping his hippocratic do no harm oath. he has integrity....courage...and knows what he is doing around sleep and all things sleep related and how to get you really and truly breathing 100% at night every night! carol despres very happy to have spontaneously come across dr. miner's dentistry practice!!!!
