SwissAm (with Erika at the helm) did a completely fabulous job catering our wedding reception. Our wedding was in early May and when we got back from our honeymoon people were still raving about the food. The beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes were especially huge hits, and I can tell you that our international fruit and cheese display and little tasty meat bites during cocktail hour were very appreciated by our guests. I had the best brie I've ever had actually, on the wonderful cheese assortment Erika had set aside for us at the head table. I also found Erika very organized and easy to work with. She invited us up for a tasting which helped us plan our menu, and we even were able to rent tableware, utensils, and glass ware from her. Not only were her rental prices some of the best we found, her rentals were of stunning quality. No plastic here! She has a large collection of china plates you can choose from and even mix and match with. Plus she offers crystal glass ware, and gold and silver utensils. You can really create your own unique look. The day of our wedding Terri and her staff were wonderful, self sufficient, and did everything they said they would. Very clean, well organized facility. There were 4 large restrooms for guests. Lots of nice tables and chairs with linens available. The owner wasn't around much, but seemed nice and accommodating when he was. The Cons: The venue manager seemed grumpy, never smiled, and was quick to say no to every request. She just seemed unhappy to be there. When asked if the flower girl could throw bird seed, she wouldn't allow it because "the next wedding party wouldn't appreciate having bird seed on the ground for their wedding." There were flower petals on the ground from a previous event that we didn't request, but no one considered that for our wedding. She must have been required to stay there the whole time, much of which was spent on her phone. There were a couple of times we had to wait quite a while to ask her a question. Certainly we understood every request may not be able to be met, but there are ways of telling people no that don't have to be rude or unfriendly. It seemed their venue manager may need more training in how to work with people, especially people who are there to enjoy a special life event and have chosen your venue to do so. She definitely needs to learn to smile when greeting people. That would go a long way. We asked to set up two hours earlier than normal and were charged $300 for the privilege, which we paid, but thought that was a steep price. The paid bartenders refused to serve non alcoholic drinks i.e. sodas, water unless it was in a mixed drink. When it was suggested to the manager that putting a tip jar out was inappropriate because we didn't want our guest to feel the need to pay for anything and just be able to enjoy the evening, she just shrugged her shoulders. The tip jar remained. Last call for the bar was made one hour before closing when it was supposed to be 30 minutes prior. Another concern was that we were told if anyone drove and felt they needed to uber home due to overindulging in alcohol, they wouldn't be allowed to leave a car there overnight. I really raised an eyebrow to this one. Being forced to drive when you needed to call for an uber is a lawsuit waiting to happen. So to sum it up, fabulous venue, with a manager in need of some people skills.
