I highly recommend Justin for any garage door repair or replacement work you need. My very old one-piece tilt up garage door finally gave way (one of the spring arms pulled from the wood beam). Justin was highly recommended from a General Contractor friend of mine. I told Justin about my door issue and he came out that day to see if he could fix it (hopefully saving me the cost of installing a brand new door). Once he got a look at the condition of the door, he realized the door was too far gone, even to repair (mostly from age and termite damage). I then asked Justin for a quote to replace the door entirely. While he was pulling that together, I got a few other quotes from other contractors in town. Justin's very reasonable quote was right in the middle of the 5 estimates I received, but he offered more for the price than most of the others and seemed more knowledgeable than all of the other contractors when it comes to garage doors (especially my door which was unusual). I got Justin's name from my ex general contractor partner about ten years ago. He and his crew have since service, repaired, and/or replaced four of our garage doors, motors. Any time I call, Justin answers and usually shoots right over and fixes the problem. For example our Genie garage door opener just went south, preventing access to the garage. Justin came by, diagnosed, and had the new opener, track, remote controls, and wall mounted button installed NEXT DAY. Imagine that with how busy contractors are these days. Also, these guys only install the best materials - I learned from Justin they only uses Liftmaster brand because you can service it and get replacement parts. It costs slightly more than the Genie and other off brands from China, but when these cheapo brands break, you have to replace everything because there's no parts available. If you ask this company to install Genie or some crap brand they won't because they know better. PS we moved from our last place which is why we had Genie. Our two car garage door stopped opening more than a couple of inches and I couldn't figure it out. I called A reliable garage door and left a message last Friday. I then called another local company who answered and came out Saturday. After the tech looked everything over, he quoted me $1300 to do a "complete torsion overhaul". I told him no way and sent him on his way. Justin called me on Sunday morning, apologized for not answering as he was out of town, and asked if he can come over to look at it and maybe get it going. He came over and rebalanced the door in no time, but the opener wouldn't program. Long story short, we asked if he could just change it out. Not a problem. We figured that while we were doing the two garage it would be better to replace the opener in the single car garage as well. Justin came on Wednesday with his partner Jerry as agreed and knocked out both openers, a new key pad and sensors and new remotes. They were quick, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Hands down Justin is the best price in all of San Diego. When I called around, prices ranged from $275-350 for JUST torsion spring replacement. Justin came by and installed TWO springs, re did my cables, changed my casters to better nylon ones and greased my motor's rails for $220. The quote for just replacing the springs was only $185! I did not hesitate to have him come- hands down the best price in all of SD. Not only is he courteous, professional and quick, he's a nice human being. You won't be sorry asking Justin for his service. You really cannot beat his price. For the people who are thinking about DIYing it, the springs cost about $80-90/pair and the casters cost $15- why risk it? So over the weekend, my garage door spring snapped on my Wayne Dalton garage door. Having been told previously that Yelp is a great place to get the inside scoop on contractors and their services, I elected to do a quick search and roll the dice. I called Justin @ A Reliable Garage Door Columbus Day morning and mentioned the weekend's loud event. Justin was more than knowledgeable on my door and what was required to fix it. Having been advised by his doctor to take it easy and no heavy lifting, Justin went above and beyond and fitted me into his schedule the same day. Not only did he fit me in, but he came way earlier than expected and gave me the courtesy of calling me when he was on his way. Justin and his brother Brian arrived in my driveway shortly thereafter with their truck and parts ready to go. In well under an hour, Justin and Brian had my spring replaced, door re-lubed, and opener settings tweaked accordingly. My door is not only operational again; but, it no longer squeals, pops when reaching full open, nor bangs when hitting the ground on the down cycle. Brian and his brother came onsite, fixed the problem, performed their work meticulously, efficiently, and with great respect to my property. Let me add that Justin did not upsell me on anything. He diagnosed the problem and provided the appropriate and required solution, nothing more. Justin just installed our garage door today. We had 4 quotes, two that install Clopay and then Justin came and gave us a quote for Unique garage doors and his price was by far the best. So we had to do research and get one more quote from a Unique installer. Justin still beat them by several hundred $'s. Both installers of Clopay doors said the hardware that comes with the doors isn't good and they would replace it. My question is, if Clopay is such a great door, why does the hardware have to be changed? The Unique door that Justin installed (the other companies contract out), Justin personally installed with another man with lots of experience, is a very good quality door. Unfortunately YELP only allows 5 stars otherwise I would have given them 6 stars. That is how satisfied I was. I had an old Wayne Dalton garage door. Unfortunately the spring or springs broke. I cannot tell because this system has the springs located inside of a metal tubing so not easy to fix and not cheap. It would have cost me more than half of what a new garage door would be if I had to have these springs replaced. So I decided to get a new door and also a new garage door opener. Justin (OWNER) came over the same day I called which was Friday to take a look at what I had going on. He quoted me $200 less than most other offers, and also it was a better door than other companies. He even said he could be back out on Monday morning. Both Justin and Jeff showed up earlier than they said they would. (This hardly every happens when you have contractors come out for an "appointment") So that was already a good sign. I have never seen 2 people work so well as a team and in sync. Seemed like they were reading each others minds as they tore out my old garage door and installed the new one. I am not kidding when I say this, from the start of the installation, to the finished product, it only took them 1 1/2 hours. This included tearing out my old garage door, garage door rails, wood trim around the door, installation of new garage door opener, and setting up my remote controls and keyless entry pad as well as cleaning up after themselves and hauling away my old garage door. I could not have been more pleased with their professionalism and quality of work performed.
