Sendaishi Pet Resort

Sendaishi Pet Resort

We have been using Sendaishi's boarding services for nearly two decades without incident, and…read more"mostly friendly" service. As someone who once worked at a boarding facility, I keep realistic expectations about how much special attention my dogs are going to get. It is very demanding physical work, especially when they are at capacity. If my dog was seriously incapacitated or needed life-saving meds, I would find a different facility that caters to that. We had Max in their daycare program, which he loved, but after a few visits, he was asked not to come back because he was "leaning" on the staff. He's 150-lbs, and leaning is his love language. Since that's 50-lbs more than the average employee there, I totally get it.

I do not recommend boarding your dogs at Sendaishi. We…read moretrusted Sendaishi with our beloved one-year-old and 3.5-year-old dogs, both of whom are sweethearts, and had a horrible surprise on pickup 3 days later - my one-year-old had a limp from an injury that a couple hours caused her leg to swell up to twice the size her leg should be. The woman at the front desk at pickup (who I believe was the owner) was rude, barely spoke to me other than taking my credit card, and had no reasonable explanation for how my dog got injured - while she stated my older dog nipped at her, the vet told us that it was not consistent with a bite wound after he examined her. My dogs came home smelling so horrible and were so dirty that we had to bathe them before we could give them the cuddles that they clearly had been lacking for their entire stay. Sendaishi's website says they give dogs love and affection during their stay, but ours couldn't stop shaking and clinging to us when we got them back. They also drank what had to be a gallon of water each as soon as we got them into the house. Luckily, we have pet insurance to cover most of the cost of the urgent vet trip, her pain medication, and antibiotics and she's starting to put weight on her injured leg after a few days. Save yourself the trouble, cost, and heartbreak and don't bring your loved fur babies here.

Dionna has been caring for my 2 cats and 3 dogs roughly once a month since April 2019, and she is…read moreWONDERFUL. My dogs are all XL and can be a handful; she's got them wrapped around her treat-filled fingers! And my cats (who are a little spooky) treat her like a member of the family! I love that I get daily updates and photos, and I know I can trust my house and the health and happiness of my herd with Dionna when I'm gone. It makes vacations and travel for work so much easier. She is very communicative via various ways (text/email/phone) and she keeps the house spotless. I thoroughly recommend Dionna!

From the owner: I have LOVED animals my ENTIRE LIFE and have an affinity for dogs especially (GOD spelled…read morebackwards). I have never been without a dog. I started off the early age of five caring for our family Scottish Terrier, Scottie, as a puppy until he was 13 years old. Then, I fell in love with Dachshunds; like they say "you can't just have one," so at one time, I had three males (Rusty, Rex & Riley) for almost 10 years. To date, I've rescued seven (my eldest, Missy, who I was gifted at the age of 11 weeks old lived a full and MUCH LOVED life for 18 years old). My current, mini-Doxie, Riley (featured on my Home page), is an easy-going little guy who loves everyone, is placid and docile. He's famous for his kisses, if you don't mind having your face licked. We enjoy a variety of activities including hiking, playing tug and fetching, which is an unusual and unique interest for the breed. My one and only cat was an orange tabby named Magic, but I haven't had any more kitties since him as he was a one-of-a-kind feline who thought he was a dog! LOL! I've been a Reiki Master (attuned '98) and offer healing energy to any fur-baby for calming energy is there's a storm approaching, a minor injury and the like. I also use alternative medicine such as homeopathy, herbology, etc., as needed. I hope you'll reach out to me to care for your beloved four-legged(s) and/or winged feathered friends (sorry, no reptiles, please).

We stopped by and met the owners, Ali and her mom Colleen. Our two dogs immediately took a liking to them and seemed right at home in their facility. There are your usual gates that you will see at any doggy daycare so they can keep the dogs safe and separated if necessary but Ali and Colleen made the extra effort to make their place feel more like a home. It was clear that it helped make our dogs feel comfortable and I especially liked that it smelled nice and clean. The outdoor area is a combination of fake and real grass. It's nice to see a facility with real grass because our dogs really enjoy rolling around in it when they're outside. I appreciate that they try to keep the groups smaller and try to ensure that the dogs are familiar with one another. I think that's really beneficial to pups that suffer from some anxiety (like our female dog). Ali and Colleen were able to watch our two dogs for Labor Day weekend and from the pictures they posted on Facebook it was clear they were well looked after. Every picture showed them smiling and having fun. They don't have a webcam so you can watch your dog on camera but they do try to make sure they post several pics online so you can see what's going on. Or if you're like me you just miss their little faces so much when you're away from them that you need to get periodic fixes! You will pay a little more here than some of the other doggy daycares in the area but you are also getting a homier environment with more personalized care. Their pricing is easier to understand than a lot of other daycares too. We're so glad we found Zoomies and will definitely use them again to watch our beloved doggies!
