We had a tricky bar top, one of the guys came and made a template for it and the results are fantastic.

Custom Kitchen, Inc replaced my 1977 laminate countertops with exquisite granite. It's very…read moredifferent and matches well with the existing cabinets and our stone fireplace. When at the yard, I told the owner what I was looking for and he drove me to four samples and I loved three of them so it was apparent that he had listened carefully to what I wanted. I also liked picking the edge and corners. (Who knew there were so many choices.) The measurements were taken with a template, not a laser. On the the day of the templates, the crew pointed out a problem which neither the designer nor the construction manager for kitchen renovation had noticed and/or mentioned. We were able to anticipate the solution thanks to Custom Kitchen. And we were sent several pictures that showed how they proposed to lay out the templates on the granite. I suggested that the largest piece be flipped 180 degrees to pick up a "swoop" in the natural flow of the granite. I was sent another set of pictures which matched my very unscientific description, perfectly. The island needed 3 pieces of granite to accommodate the new range. the two pieces on the side are nicely matched and the third piece across the back of the range fits in very well. While the whole of the kitchen renovation turned into an extended nightmare, choosing and installing the granite was easy-peasy.

Is this your regular typical bait and switch company?? Unbelievable. I spent time with Lavivia…read morepicking out colors and type of countertop. She was helpful and wrote down a quote on the back of her business card of $1950 based on the cabinet drawings from the cabinetmaker. It included shelf brackets, a built sink, and backsplash. A person has to come out and verify measurements after the counters are built and installed. We scheduled a time based on the cabinetmaker's schedule, and that went smoothly. The measurer calculated 6 square feet more than what Lavivia and I separately had measured. A few days later she sent a quote for $3200 and said I needed to submit a $1600 immediately to get the project on her schedule. I emailed her back wanting to understand the more than $1200 price difference. After a day of no response I called her and left a message asking the same. I gave her another 24 hour, then decided to search elsewhere. I never heard back from her. Most people, I expect, don't have time to start over, so I expect they're use to getting away with this technique, but I had started early in the project. I went to Home Depot and started the process over. I chose the same product and gave them the cabinetmaker's drawings. They came up with the same measurement I and Lavivia had to begin with. The price was reasonable at around $2100. I said let's do it. She said Sims would have to come out and verify. I was stunned. I told they had already, and told her the story. I then gave her the formal quote from them to make sure we had apples to apples so they couldn't try to raise the price, even using their measurer's figure. The price went up to $2300, but I was still good. So, Sims called in a few days to send someone to measure. I told them their guy already had, and the story. They adamantly said it was going to cost a lot more than that, because I went to a third party. I said, whatever, do you need to come measure again? They said they could use the one they had done. I thought they were done with me, but a week later I called Home Depot to check on the project. Home Depot checked and said it was in production and would be installed on Monday. Installation went well. Lavivia's original estimate included counter brackets to hold the overhang, but that dropped off, so I ordered those separately and had installed them myself. After the install, a rep from Home Depot came by my house to check to see if installation had gone smoothly. I said it did, then told him my story. He said if I used the online template and got charged for more material than was installed, Home Depot would refund that part. I said yeah! I went by the store then emailed the Home Depot rep about having them explain why the measurer got 6 more square feet than we. Sims finally sent the measurer's template he had drawn out, then, in a separate email the numbers he used to calculate square footage. Sure enough, he had counted the overlap corner twice, 6 square feet. I emailed Home Depot rep saying that didn't seem right. This whole things is about ethics. Sims is out for as much money as they can take you for. I guess I looked naive and gullible. I didn't get the card of the Home Depot rep who stopped by the installation day ( the store person didn't know who it could be), otherwise I'd pursue getting a refund for the overmeasured amount.

Armex Stone - Iron Moss Neolith Countertop Installation.

Armex Stone

Less than 4 months after updating out countertops, we noticed issues with the installation. I…read morecontacted Armex to correct the issues and have been met with nothing but unprofessionalism and a complete disregard for my time/money. This company has shown that they have no integrity and no desire to assist their customers once they have your money. I have been blown off for weeks before even getting an appointment time to come perform repairs. When they did respond, the "only time" they had available was over a month away. I agreed, the day came and went with no one showing up or calling/communicating in any way that they would not show. I AGAIN had to contact them (twice) to even get a response and which was so pathetic that I was insulted enough to leave bad reviews everywhere I can think of. (advised 'last minute decisions based on no gas'- yet no call or correspondence until I initiate? come onnnn.) See my photos showing email dates and responses. Also, it's worth noting that the day of the installation I have on security camera footage that they broke my outdoor step leading up to my front door by resting the stone countertop on it. No one informed me of the damage they did, instead the owner Cristian and his worker just set the piece back on with a dollop of silicone-- which nearly anyone can tell you will not hold brick onto brick. So of course it fell off again after they left and I checked my camera to see what transpired. How little do you respect your customer to not even advise of damage you caused to their home? At this point I would rather just pay another respectable company to come repair the shotty countertop they installed, I don't even want these people near my home again.

If you are looking for quality craftsmanship ArMex is the company to use, and Christian is a master craftsman. Overall, the entire staff was extremely professional and easy to work with.
