Unfortunately, the exact same issues have resurfaced. As of today, September 30, they have not serviced my property since August 20, despite recently asking for an increase in their per-service rate. I have sent multiple text messages requesting regular mowing, a lower cut, and trimming for two bushes. While I received several promises via text that they would come out, they have repeatedly failed to show up. I spoke with Duke Energy about a tree on my property near power lines serving a neighbor's new…read moreservice. Before any work was done, Duke told me heavy cutting wasn't necessary, that light pruning would likely do, and that they'd pass that along to Asplundh. Lane from Asplundh left me a voicemail. I returned his call the same day and left a message. No one called back. Weeks later a crew arrived unannounced and cut the tree far more aggressively than Duke said the job required. I understand utility contractors have clearance rights. That's not the issue. The issue is that they reached out, got a response, and then ignored it. One phone call would have let a homeowner understand what was coming and why. Instead they treated a mature tree on private property as an obstacle to hack through as fast as possible, with no regard for the owner or for what the utility itself said was needed. Having the legal right to do something is not the same as doing it well. When the company that hired you has already said the work isn't necessary and you do it anyway, that says everything. If Asplundh is scheduled near your property, don't wait for them to follow up. They won't.
