It's not every day you end up needing three tows in 24 hours, but that was exactly our experience during a Thanksgiving trip to Big Bear. After going off-roading in Fawnskin, our car died deep in the woods--truly the middle of nowhere. We called AAA, who sent Kevin from A-Performance Towing, and he arrived quickly. He immediately diagnosed the issue and assured us it wasn't the alternator, as I had suspected. With it being a holiday weekend, only one shop was open, and Kevin recommended we tow it there. He was right--our battery was completely done. An hour later, with a new one installed, we were back on the road. Feeling confident, we went off-roading again... and four hours later, the truck stalled again. AAA dispatched A-Performance Towing once more. We were much farther up the mountain this time, and my signal was so spotty that my location was pinging miles away. The owner, Corey, personally called me, knew the trails well, and still managed to find us. He navigated rough terrain, got us safely out, and provided incredibly helpful insight. It was clear the issue was more serious than a battery. Corey recommended towing to a dealership since no local shop could likely diagnose it over the holiday weekend. He even called the Dodge dealership in Moreno Valley himself to coordinate and make sure we could speak directly with the service manager. The level of professionalism was truly outstanding. This morning, their driver Reyes towed my truck to the dealership and was an absolute pleasure to work with--friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Most people don't expect exceptional service from towing companies, but A-Performance Towing is in a league of its own. Car got stuck in snow after a day of snowboarding and A-performance Towing was helping other people who were stuck so I asked if he could help us too. The man who helped us (my two girl friends and I) was so friendly and kind. No complaints there. He even tried helping us get the car out before actually towing us but we were STUCK. The only slightttt issue I have is I had asked how much for a tow (I have AAA but was told service with AAA is on a first come first serve basis and he had other calls and it was getting dark so didn't want to wait 2 hours possibly) and I was told it would be $250. I check my card the next day and it was charged $270. $20 isn't a big deal, especially because he was kind and helpful but if it's $250, I should've only been charged $250. Not a big deal, keep it as a tip, but just be aware of what they charge and what you're being charged. read more

In February 2024 my car hot a pot hole when visiting our cabin in Big Bear. It was a Sunday and a holiday weekend so A-performance was the only company willing to tell me back home to Los Angeles. My experience started out excellent the driver was helpful and Even told me he was a shaman. When we arrived back to Los Angeles I paid the driver for the mileage overage and gave him a $200 tip. I was only over 15 miles because my first hundred miles is free being I am a gold member over 20 years with AAA. The driver ended up stealing my money Etting the fee for the mile overage and the Tip reporting that I never paid the bill to AAA. today I launched an investigation and I'm sure I will win this place hires thieves who pretend to be shaman and steal your money. today I started an investigation with AAA looking into the matter. I just want to start off by saying, David saved us! We were in Big Bear during this recent snow storm, prepped with SUVs and snow chains thinking we were prepared. Well, it didn't stand up to the storm that happened this weekend. Our SUV was stuck at the bottom of the street, unable to get up the hill to our rental property. AAA quoted a response time of 2 hrs and David reached out within 15 minutes. He showed up shortly after to assess the situation and took a stab at trying to get us up the hill. Our car couldn't do it. We were yelled at by people trying to get by, telling us to move like we wish we could! David went above and beyond what any technician is expected to do, he even helped redo our chains and gave us his personal tighteners. He didn't have to but he did. There are nice people in this world but David is one of those that restores your faith back in humanity and that there are genuinely nice people who want to help just because, left in this world. Do not waste your time or money using them, even if you have AAA because they're the only contracted company in Big Bear, you're literally better off paying out of pocket for a more reliable service. Confirmed pick up from company to take us back home, waited 1.5+ hours, put car on truck, when we finally got inside THE OWNER texted and called the driver saying "yeah we're not taking them back home we have too many calls now" and they literally dropped us off back in Big Bear further than where we needed to be, with nowhere to go, in the middle of a parking lot. Then tried to say if you have nowhere to go you can pay $80 a night to keep your car with us?! Company cares more about $ than safety and well being of customers. They wasted our time and put us in a horrible situation that spanned 5 hours. Owner and company are the worst, driver was actually a decent human but his hand were understandably tied. read more

AAA was sending them to my aid at big bear. They called and said 2 hours as one call was ahead of me, understandable. I later get a call for another 2 hours as yet another call that was ahead of me and had slipped their mind. At this point I cancelled as I was finding another option. My other plans didn't go well so I called back an hour later, their dispatch took up the call from aaa and later called me and asked if I was the guy that cancelled and when I said yes he said I shouldn't have cancelled now they are busy until next day.
