Do not go anywhere else on this mountain aside from this location. Leave it to a veteran owned company to offer fair hourly labor, correct reliable parts, and hands on diagnostic work. Aside from other garages up here price fixing and tripling prices with garbage work - this location actually cares about you and your property. Any other decision to bring your vehicle to a different garage that makes their profit off of fleet vehicles will leave you stranded on top of a mountain. Mike & his technicians will ensure you and your property are safe and functional. I will only go to this location in SB County, and will refer friends and family as a professional business consultant with vast experience in this industry to Advanced Auto. read more

We want to give Advanced Auto a 5 star rating after our previous 1 star review. Mike went over and above to help repair the Landcruiser. He brought it back in and replaced the emergency brake and brakes at no charge. We are currently waiting on the correct sensor to be delivered and he will have his mechanic install at no charge. Thank you Mike for being a man of your word and making Big Bear a great place to live. read more

I've been a customer of Advanced Auto for many years and highly recommend them. Whenever I bring my car in due to something malfunctioning, Mike is always great at assessing the problem and communication to me exactly what is needed to fix it. read more

Mike was my mechanic for almost 20 years. I had to move from Big Bear 3 years ago, and still haven't found a mechanic I would trust as I do Mike. I still hit him up with questions. Advanced Auto is trustworthy, reliable and dependable. Always knew the cost of parts and repair before work started. I'm about ready to drive 5 hours to have Advanced Auto service my car! read more

The best mechanic auto shop on the mountain very trustworthy people at very fair prices. Excellent work.

Advanced Auto saved us! We overheated coming up the Mountain. Turns out I had a crack in my radiator. My first mistake was bringing my car to a place on Big Bear Blvd because it "seemed convenient"! That's how they get you! My quote was so high that I thought I'd better get a second opinion. After calling around on a Monday Morning most mechanics couldn't give me a quote or promise I'd have my car fixed even by Friday! I called Mike at advanced auto and he was able to run my VIN and license plate and give me an exact quote based off of those for nearly a grand less than the other guys! AND he had it back to me by Wednesday afternoon! My family and I are back and safe in LA and we owe it all to Mike and Advanced Auto! Fair prices and days quicker than the other guys! Fun fact! Big Bear doesn't have car rental businesses so it was imperative we got our car back quickly. 10/10 recommend! read more

I had an amazing experience when I got my vehicle serviced. Mike was really helpful; he checked all my fluids including my windshield wiper fluid and made sure everything was good to go. He answered all my questions and made sure to explain everything on my bill. I will definitely be returning! read more

11/2/20 this business was referred by Nick JR at Mercer auto because of electrical problems I had, I contacted Mike Post by voicemail, phone text and then on Facebook messenger he finally responded by text: "Hello, I did get your voice message and I just got done reading your text. I do not have any openings this week unfortunately to give you a hand with anything. My next available appointment is 11 November which is a Wednesday of next week. If you live up here and would like to set up an appointment for that please text me or call me back thank you, Mike" My response: 11/2/20 I texted immediately 10:27pm thank you for getting back to me, yes please make an appointment for me on 11/11/20 and yes I live in Big Bear City, I appreciate your help He then claimed to have never received this info, all of this is by phone text He never did even follow up after saying he would get back to me, he was verbally rude with me saying his commercial vehicles where priority and I said I understand that My last text to him: 11/16/20 11:26pm GM I was talking to my friend CATHIE BELT and she too highly recommended you I was sure hoping you could have helped me out but you again said you would get back to me this past Thursday 11/12/20 and Friday 11/13/20 and never did and I know how busy you are, so I won't bother asking anymore He never even followed up, I wish I knew someone else up here to help me out If you go here good luck read more

This place is great! They are super honest and take care of their customers, There prices are fair ! Definitely recommend

I was driving up to Big Bear and had a huge coolant leak which led to an engine fire. Went to Advanced Auto and Mike was a huge help. Got my car running again and was able to finish the trip without any issues. The car is still running better than ever. I hate going to new / unfamiliar mechanics for auto work, but after my experience there - if I ever need some major work on my car that I can't do myself, and I'm able to drive it - I'll probably drive out of my way to bring it there. If you're looking for an honest mechanic that does quality work and doesn't overcharge, this is the place to go. read more

Excellent customer service. My car broke down while I was on vacation in Big Bear. Advanced Auto was able to repair my car promptly so I would not get stuck on the mountain. I would recommend these guys to anyone in town! read more

Was referred to this guy (Mike) for winter plowing. Usually use a couple of other guys who are great, but one had a broken plow and the other replled at the same time that this one showed up so I let him do the job. Came with an attitude, overpriced, but I accepted, did a terrible job, his truck couldn't do the area which he found out after he started, but wouldn't budge on price, so not wanting to use him again, I accepted his claim just wanting to end it. At end of job (20 minutes?) he says cash only (which he should have said at the beginning and I would have given the job to my other guy who had texted me). I didn't have the cash, having paid all other snow contractors in credit and billing .. Made a big scene, got ugly and rude. Accepted a check which got screwed up even though I wrote it in front of him and he inspected it, he came back an hour later (not sure why he didn't call) all huffy .. ended up driving with him to his shop (guess he wanted me to ride with him so he could do some control demands or something) to use his credit card machine which he earlier said he didn't have, insisted on debit card only ... told me he never wanted my business ever again, charged me an extra $10 for the 'hassle" ... Sorry, not sure how this guy does car business in the summer months, and maybe he's better for locals and only rude to off-hillers, maybe he's got issues or problem, maybe this was just a real bad day for him .. but I would never recommend this business to anyone. I am also a property owner in the area, I fear for just tourists that may need him for car assist ... he seems to be one that really tries to take advantage of his customers as he did me. Never again. read more

I have dealt with a lot of mechanics with my vehicles through the years in big bear and am Some what of a mechanic my self. Mike is incredibly Knowledgeable and the most honest and fairest guys I know. He just helped me out fixing the steering on my truck and had it back to me quicker than I was expecting. I couldn't be happier. 5 starts all day long. Don't waist your money with these other guys up here. read more

Mike and his team were recommended to me by a friend of mine & I am so thankful for it. They were extremely helpful and honest when it came to replacing the clutch kit in my Subaru. Mike even went above and beyond in helping me get my car to the shop, communicated with me through every step of the process, and got the job done for less than the estimated cost. I will happily be using their services for all of my future car repair and maintenance needs! read more

Warning Do Not Take your Vehicle here!! Go to E&R Auto Repair! They are reliable and do not take advantage of people! I took my vehicle here and it was the worse decision I ever made!! The owner is extremely Rude and very spiteful! I would hate for anyone to go through what I went through! I trustingly took my Vehicle here to get my breaks fixed. The owner put in a hub assembly in my vehicle without giving me a quote first. 800 dollars later and he did not even fix the squeak. His reply was well it needed it and shrugged his shoulders. He looked at me so mean and told me "oh well." He told me If I wanted my breaks looked at it would be separate from what he decided to put in. I agreed and took it back to get an oil change and my breaks fixed. He charged me another 300. The owner proceeded to take off the milage sticker but did not replace it with the updated sticker. I checked my oil after I paid him and the dip stick was bone dry! He almost blew up my car on purpose! He would not for the life of him make it right!!! DO NOT COME HERE!! TAKE YOUR BUSNIESS TO SOMEONE WHO IS RELIABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. E&R Auto Repair would never ever do something like this. read more

Mike and his crew are absolutely amazing!! Would highly recommend! They're extremely affordable, and so so friendly. They did a great job!

Always a good experience....Mike really knows his stuff! Prices are very fair and service is great.

Our minivan broke down on the way to Big Bear and we couldn't have found a better and more honest mechanic that even returned our phone calls on the weekend. Mike answered his cell phone on a Saturday evening, recommended a tow truck, and then met up with us Sunday to drop off the keys. We were having transmission problems and Mike and his staff went above and beyond to diagnose the issue and resolve it quickly without any B.S. Instead of pictures of girls in his shop, Mike has drawings from his kids. Put your vehicle in good hands and trust a great family man! read more

Mike is a very fair mechanic he had been working on my car for the last year and my dad's truck. I couldn't be more happy about the service we have received from advanced auto. And his staff Chris snd Delmar are very helpful. I recommend this shop to all. read more

Looking for a mechanic you can trust? Go here. I had a truck issue and was at the local restaurant and mentioned it to the waitress. It turns out her boyfriends shop is Advanced Auto. Concerned as I was, I went right over. They checked my truck and had a chance to rob me, but instead were honest and straightforward. Mike Post and his team are cool guys. They don't drink and they're honest. This place earned my respect. read more

Mike is great with my cars I have taken them to him for years! I recommend him to all of my friends and fairly priced.

Mike is a genuinely good person. I called him on a late Saturday night stuck. My drivers side wind shield wiper was broken and I didn't have chains as it started to dump 6-12 inches. His shop was closed. But rather than turn me away, over the phone he offered to help. He walked me through how to fix my wiper including where to get the tool. He then refereed me to a place for chains. He will be the reason my family and I get home safely tomorrow with zero profit for him. Thank you Mike for helping my family and resorting faith in human decency. read more

I have been to several shops in Big Bear and I have to say this is by far the best shop. Mike the owner is probably one of the most compassionate mechanics I have ever met. He's honest and spends quality time on my vehicle. I never feel rushed or pressured to do anything. His prices are very decent and the customer service is amazing. A plus is you get to watch the planes land on the runway from the airport. I would definitely recommend his shop. read more

Most honest mechanic in Big Bear. Has worked on five cars over the last ten years. Very busy as the word is out there, so make an appointment if possible. Usually, probably not necessary. Dine at the Barnstorm at the airport which is walking distance from Mike's place. read more

Spent the holidays in big bear with the family. Needed chains on the tires for the first time. Well the chains cut the brake line. Called Mike and he said bring it over. He got us right in, and had to order the part. He found us a room for the night. Got the parts on and had us picked up by check out time. Also cost was lower then the amount estimated. Mike went above and beyond to help is out and get us home. He also is a proud navy veteran. We were definitely blessed by him and his shop. If you are in the area, there is no question that Advanced Auto repair is the place to go. read more

I bought a used car for $1000, Mike took the necessary steps to help me understand the cars needs, and cost of what would make the car pass smog. Mike is absolutely amazing! My quick trip to big bear for the weekend turned into a week long nightmare when my brake line was severed by a pair of chains that were too big. We found Advanced Auto online and called right away. In the midst of the storm Mike was our hero!! We had no idea what we were doing and he helped us every step of the way. After leaving my car in Big Bear as it was not drivable and not a single tow truck would come up to the area, I overnighted my keys to Mike and he personally went up and shoveled the snow, had the car towed to his shop, fixed it and had it ready for pick up the same day!! Without his help my car would probably still be stuck there. I am so grateful for Mike and his team. The price was great as well and they were upfront from the beginning. I would recommend this shop to everyone! Thank you again for such amazing service! read more

I cannot recommend Mike at Advanced Auto highly enough. My girlfriend and I were up in Big Bear on a holiday weekend. We had a battery light on our 2004 civic in the late afternoon - and were really in a tough spot (lots of small businesses close early). We called Mike and he asked us to meet him at his shop in 15 minutes. After we arrived, he diagnosed a dead alternator. Unfortunately, the parts supplier in Big Bear didn't have the part - but Mike offered, on his holiday weekend, to drive down the hill to Apple Valley to pick up the part, install it and get it repaired THAT NIGHT. Before he went though, he drove us over to our B&B and gave us the number for a cab company so we could still make it out to dinner. We go out, finish up and I give Mike a call to check on the car. As promised, it's done (this is at 8:30 p.m.). I was intending to call a cab to take us over to the shop - but Mike offers to pick us up, which he does. Car is perfect. Price is incredibly fair (my Dad's a mechanic). We continue to have a tremendous holiday weekend after Mike saved it by really going above and beyond. read more

I have to say, my experience with Mike was beyond professional! My AC went out on a hot friday and the weekend I was going to the desert. I called and spoke with Mike, he said to just bring it down, well, i got there around 5pm and got right in. He got the AC fixed and blows colder than it ever has before. He finshed up around 6pm. I asked my self, how many shops would stay open after 5pm on a friday to fix car? He is the only one. He explained to me how the AC works and i got to see everything he was doing. Very professional attitude. I will let all my friends know! Job well done- exceeded expectations. read more

I had brought my grandson and daughter to the mountains to play in the snow. I had put my tire cables on wrong and had broke my brake line! It was very scary because it was getting dark and there was ice and snow on the streets. We pulled into a gas station/mechanic .The cashier there was short with me and told me that their mechanic only took appointments and was booked. My daughter looked up mechanics and found that most had bad reviews. The front desk guy at my hotel room recommended Mike at Advanced Auto. First thing next morning I called at 8 am, he got my car in immediately. He was kind, honest and fast. He even gave me a ride back and forth from the motel room so I did not have to trudge through the snow. I am sooo grateful we found him. I highly recommend Mike, do not waste your time going anywhere else. read more
