Advanced Auto saved us! We overheated coming up the Mountain. Turns out I had a crack in my radiator. My first mistake was bringing my car to a place on Big Bear Blvd because it "seemed convenient"! That's how they get you! My quote was so high that I thought I'd better get a second opinion. After calling around on a Monday Morning most mechanics couldn't give me a quote or promise I'd have my car fixed even by Friday! I called Mike at advanced auto and he was able to run my VIN and license plate and give me an exact quote based off of those for nearly a grand less than the other guys! AND he had it back to me by Wednesday afternoon! My family and I are back and safe in LA and we owe it all to Mike and Advanced Auto! Fair prices and days quicker than the other guys! Fun fact! Big Bear doesn't have car rental businesses so it was imperative we got our car back quickly. 10/10 recommend! read more

11/2/20 this business was referred by Nick JR at Mercer auto because of electrical problems I had, I contacted Mike Post by voicemail, phone text and then on Facebook messenger he finally responded by text: "Hello, I did get your voice message and I just got done reading your text. I do not have any openings this week unfortunately to give you a hand with anything. My next available appointment is 11 November which is a Wednesday of next week. I was driving up to Big Bear and had a huge coolant leak which led to an engine fire. Went to Advanced Auto and Mike was a huge help. Got my car running again and was able to finish the trip without any issues. The car is still running better than ever. I hate going to new / unfamiliar mechanics for auto work, but after my experience there - if I ever need some major work on my car that I can't do myself, and I'm able to drive it - I'll probably drive out of my way to bring it there. Was referred to this guy (Mike) for winter plowing. Usually use a couple of other guys who are great, but one had a broken plow and the other replled at the same time that this one showed up so I let him do the job. Came with an attitude, overpriced, but I accepted, did a terrible job, his truck couldn't do the area which he found out after he started, but wouldn't budge on price, so not wanting to use him again, I accepted his claim just wanting to end it. At end of job (20 minutes?) he says cash only (which he should have said at the beginning and I would have given the job to my other guy who had texted me). I didn't have the cash, having paid all other snow contractors in credit and billing .. Made a big scene, got ugly and rude. Accepted a check which got screwed up even though I wrote it in front of him and he inspected it, he came back an hour later (not sure why he didn't call) all huffy .. ended up driving with him to his shop (guess he wanted me to ride with him so he could do some control demands or something) to use his credit card machine which he earlier said he didn't have, insisted on debit card only ... told me he never wanted my business ever again, charged me an extra $10 for the 'hassle" ... Sorry, not sure how this guy does car business in the summer months, and maybe he's better for locals and only rude to off-hillers, maybe he's got issues or problem, maybe this was just a real bad day for him .. but I would never recommend this business to anyone. I am also a property owner in the area, I fear for just tourists that may need him for car assist ... he seems to be one that really tries to take advantage of his customers as he did me. Warning Do Not Take your Vehicle here!! Go to E&R Auto Repair! They are reliable and do not take advantage of people! I took my vehicle here and it was the worse decision I ever made!! The owner is extremely Rude and very spiteful! I would hate for anyone to go through what I went through! I trustingly took my Vehicle here to get my breaks fixed. The owner put in a hub assembly in my vehicle without giving me a quote first. 800 dollars later and he did not even fix the squeak. His reply was well it needed it and shrugged his shoulders. He looked at me so mean and told me "oh well." He told me If I wanted my breaks looked at it would be separate from what he decided to put in. I agreed and took it back to get an oil change and my breaks fixed. He charged me another 300. The owner proceeded to take off the milage sticker but did not replace it with the updated sticker. I checked my oil after I paid him and the dip stick was bone dry! He almost blew up my car on purpose! He would not for the life of him make it right!!! DO NOT COME HERE!! TAKE YOUR BUSNIESS TO SOMEONE WHO IS RELIABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. E&R Auto Repair would never ever do something like this. read more

Spent the holidays in big bear with the family. Needed chains on the tires for the first time. Well the chains cut the brake line. Called Mike and he said bring it over. Mike is absolutely amazing! My quick trip to big bear for the weekend turned into a week long nightmare when my brake line was severed by a pair of chains that were too big. We found Advanced Auto online and called right away. In the midst of the storm Mike was our hero!! We had no idea what we were doing and he helped us every step of the way. After leaving my car in Big Bear as it was not drivable and not a single tow truck would come up to the area, I overnighted my keys to Mike and he personally went up and shoveled the snow, had the car towed to his shop, fixed it and had it ready for pick up the same day!! Without his help my car would probably still be stuck there. I am so grateful for Mike and his team. The price was great as well and they were upfront from the beginning. I cannot recommend Mike at Advanced Auto highly enough. My girlfriend and I were up in Big Bear on a holiday weekend. We had a battery light on our 2004 civic in the late afternoon - and were really in a tough spot (lots of small businesses close early). We called Mike and he asked us to meet him at his shop in 15 minutes. After we arrived, he diagnosed a dead alternator. Unfortunately, the parts supplier in Big Bear didn't have the part - but Mike offered, on his holiday weekend, to drive down the hill to Apple Valley to pick up the part, install it and get it repaired THAT NIGHT. Before he went though, he drove us over to our B&B and gave us the number for a cab company so we could still make it out to dinner. We go out, finish up and I give Mike a call to check on the car. As promised, it's done (this is at 8:30 p.m.). I was intending to call a cab to take us over to the shop - but Mike offers to pick us up, which he does. Car is perfect. Price is incredibly fair (my Dad's a mechanic). We continue to have a tremendous holiday weekend after Mike saved it by really going above and beyond. read more

I have to say, my experience with Mike was beyond professional! My AC went out on a hot friday and the weekend I was going to the desert. I called and spoke with Mike, he said to just bring it down, well, i got there around 5pm and got right in. He got the AC fixed and blows colder than it ever has before. He finshed up around 6pm. I asked my self, how many shops would stay open after 5pm on a friday to fix car? He is the only one. He explained to me how the AC works and i got to see everything he was doing. I had brought my grandson and daughter to the mountains to play in the snow. I had put my tire cables on wrong and had broke my brake line! It was very scary because it was getting dark and there was ice and snow on the streets. We pulled into a gas station/mechanic .The cashier there was short with me and told me that their mechanic only took appointments and was booked. My daughter looked up mechanics and found that most had bad reviews. The front desk guy at my hotel room recommended Mike at Advanced Auto. First thing next morning I called at 8 am, he got my car in immediately. He was kind, honest and fast. He even gave me a ride back and forth from the motel room so I did not have to trudge through the snow. I am sooo grateful we found him.
