Headed out for the weekend to big bear and got a flat Saturday afternoon Headed to this tire shop at 2:30PM the hole on my tire was too big tire shop guy went inside found me a "tire" assured me it'll be in my Monday morning at 8am which I was heading back home Monday so I proceeded and left my wheel and tire at there shop and roamed the rest of my weekend on my spare just to get this message Monday morning then upon arrival my wheel and rim are already separated and tire shop guy just smiles and states one tire arrived but it wasn't my specific tire. Great outstanding customer service. We took a short family trip to Big Bear and on our check out, the check the tire light came on. I drove to the gas station to fill up the tires but one of the tires began to loose air really fast. So I decided to search for a tire repair service in the area. I found them via Google and decided to give them a shot. They were super busy for a Saturday and the staff did advise me that they were short staffed because someone had called in sick. They were able to find a metal shard that had punctured the tire and repaired the tire without having to buy a new one. They were honest, friendly and patient. I guess there must have been lots of debris on the road since it was snowing that week because there were at least five other cars with similar issues. Please note this is the only car repair shop that is open on Saturdays in the area. Hence their back log. The price was reasonable for the area and given the day of the week. They have a small waiting room with coffee available that we were grateful for after a hectic last 12 hours (we had our snowboards and gear with us too, making it more hectic). I'm an avid road-tripper. I've driven through all of the Lower 48 states multiple times, which means I've interacted with my fair share of mechanics and various car maintenance businesses and employees. By far, Daniel and the team at Gonzalez Garage are the best mechanics I've ever interacted with. The only downside is they're located in Big Bear and I no longer live in the Big Bear area. If I could clone this team and turn them in to a beautifully-branded mechanic chain, they would put every Jiffy Lube type joint out of business within a year. They're that lovely to work with. I was recommended to Gonzalez Garage by a tow truck driver who was also a Big Bear local. I got a flat tire running over one of the giant rocks that randomly fall on the roads in the mountains and put in a request for a tow. Not knowing any local mechanics in the area, I just opted to use one of the AAA recommended mechanics. When the driver showed up and saw that Phil's Automatic was the recommended mechanic, he immediately asked me if I was a local, and then when I answered "yes", he immediately recommended Daniel and said he was better at taking care of customers than a lot of other mechanics in the area. One of the best things about Big Bear is that the locals love, look out for, and take care of each other. And if this guy was telling me Gonzalez Garage was the spot, I was going to take his word and see what happened. My god, was the tow truck driver right. On the drive over, he called the garage and let them know we were on our way and that I needed a new tire. When we arrived, Daniel greeted me in the office, and the guys got right to work. A lot of people mention Daniel by name in these reviews, and it's because the man truly couldn't be sweeter, which is almost unheard of in the mechanic industry. Genuinely a kind human being who really does everything possible to take care of his customers. My favorite thing about Gonzales is they'll give you what you need and what you ask for *without trying to upsell you*. I can't explain what a weight that takes off of the whole visiting a mechanic experience when so many garages try to nickel and dime every customer who walks through the door (especially if you're a women who knows little-to-nothing about cars who is coming in alone). Brought the family to Big Bear for Thanksgiving. I was running Bio Diesel in my truck and the freezing temperatures would not allow the fuel to flow properly. I had the truck towed to his shop 30 minutes before closing. They had me back on the road 2 hours after opening the next business day. He put my truck in his shop to warm it back up, changed my fuel filters and put a cold weather additive in the tank. He did exactly what he said it needed and finished exactly when he said he would. Came up to Big Bear for the weekend on a Friday, then when unloading our vehicle I smelled gasoline. I noticed a slow gasoline leak. This was just past 5pm and all the local automotive repair places were closed, no problem I'll look up a place on Saturday. Only problem is that most auto repair places were closed on Saturday. I found Gonzalez Garage on yelp and thankfully they were opened. They inspected my car quickly and found the cause of the leak. They were not able to fix the leak however explained that the gasoline was no longer leaking and that I could have it fixed once we returned. They charged a very fair price to inspect my vehicle and had it back to me quickly. Highly recommended. read more

I've gone to this garage for work many times but one in particular they replaced my starter in March of 2022. Until recently it worked fine & no other mechanic had touched it. Then about a month ago my van would start sometimes & wouldn't other times until it got worse & worse & wouldn't start at all. I ended up having to sleep in a parking lot waiting on a tow one night. I went to another mechanic & he showed me where they had done some janky work to bypass a bad connection to the starter. The starter was good but the connection & the bypass they put in was also bad. I didn't find out for over 2 years what they had done & I'm very mad about it. I paid them $370 & had to pay another mechanic for fixing their shotty work. Apparently this is something shady mechanics will do so they don't have to fix the connection as well. I will not be going there ever again they cost me so much car trouble & money! read more
