very honest family. Brought my Jeep in to go get checked out because I had an engine light. They explained to me that it could be a bad batch of gas so they cleared the error and they asked me to monitor it and put 91 octane gas. They didn't charge me. I was very appreciative. I will be coming back read more

This business was professional, good prices and we were quickly back on the road. Very satisfied.

My wife and her friend were in town and unfortunately got a flat tire, they were able to get the car to the shop and they took care of them quickly and very friendly service, just wanted to thank them for making the whole process easy, fast and getting them back on the road safely! read more

Great outstanding customer service. We took a short family trip to Big Bear and on our check out, the check the tire light came on. I drove to the gas station to fill up the tires but one of the tires began to loose air really fast. So I decided to search for a tire repair service in the area. I found them via Google and decided to give them a shot. They were super busy for a Saturday and the staff did advise me that they were short staffed because someone had called in sick. They were able to find a metal shard that had punctured the tire and repaired the tire without having to buy a new one. They were honest, friendly and patient. I guess there must have been lots of debris on the road since it was snowing that week because there were at least five other cars with similar issues. Please note this is the only car repair shop that is open on Saturdays in the area. Hence their back log. The price was reasonable for the area and given the day of the week. I would definitely use their services again. Really honest and humble staff. We made it back home safe and sound. read more

I was on vacation camping around Big Bear Ca when the check engine light came on in my van and it was losing power. I had one more day off before I had to be at work in San Diego. They didn't have any appointments for a couple days but let me drop it off in case they had any time. They diagnosed the problem super quick. Excellent communication. Had me back on the road same day! All around Excellent experience!! Thank you! read more

First rate service, excellent work, fair price all in one shop. Daniel and his crew are superb. Working early Saturday morning, the day before Easter on a holiday weekend. Snow coming down hard and bitter cold. I had a flat and needed resolution as I needed to drive down the mountain the next day. Was prepared to buy a new tire, but Daniel told me they could patch the existing tire as it was still in great condition. Didn't try to sell me a tire where he'd be sure to make more money. In and out in under 30 minutes. Thank you guys for making it easy! read more

Super nice owner and Mechanic. Fixed my tires after Rotating them. For nothing. I'd go back. read more

I've been a customer of Daniel for 5+ years, and that's one of the few mechanics where I feel I'm not getting overcharged. Anything from routine oil changes to "I have this weird sound" scenarios - totally trust him with taking care of my oldish Subaru. read more

My husband and I had the misfortune of hitting a sizable pothole on the way into Big Bear late on Fri night and getting a flat. Thankfully we got a tow to Gonzalez Garage the next morning, one of the few garages open on a Saturday in Big Bear. We had such an amazing experience with the owner and his team of professionals, from start to finish! They have a small waiting room with coffee available that we were grateful for after a hectic last 12 hours (we had our snowboards and gear with us too, making it more hectic). The team here was INCREDIBLY busy with many cars in and out and people needing help, but they all remained pleasant, calm, and efficient. After their wizardry, we went from worst case scenario to best case scenario!! We couldn't believe it. They even saved our snowboarding day (got us back on the slopes by 10am)! MVPs. We can't say enough about the owner and his team here at Gonzalez (unfortunately we didn't get their names but they were a class act as a whole)! If you're in a car pinch and need someone trustworthy who knows. their. stuff, these are your guys. read more

My go to auto mechanic on the mountain. Service is great, prices are honest, and I've taken my cars there for years.

I'm an avid road-tripper. I've driven through all of the Lower 48 states multiple times, which means I've interacted with my fair share of mechanics and various car maintenance businesses and employees. By far, Daniel and the team at Gonzalez Garage are the best mechanics I've ever interacted with. The only downside is they're located in Big Bear and I no longer live in the Big Bear area. If I could clone this team and turn them in to a beautifully-branded mechanic chain, they would put every Jiffy Lube type joint out of business within a year. They're that lovely to work with. I was recommended to Gonzalez Garage by a tow truck driver who was also a Big Bear local. I got a flat tire running over one of the giant rocks that randomly fall on the roads in the mountains and put in a request for a tow. Not knowing any local mechanics in the area, I just opted to use one of the AAA recommended mechanics. When the driver showed up and saw that Phil's Automatic was the recommended mechanic, he immediately asked me if I was a local, and then when I answered "yes", he immediately recommended Daniel and said he was better at taking care of customers than a lot of other mechanics in the area. One of the best things about Big Bear is that the locals love, look out for, and take care of each other. And if this guy was telling me Gonzalez Garage was the spot, I was going to take his word and see what happened. My god, was the tow truck driver right. On the drive over, he called the garage and let them know we were on our way and that I needed a new tire. When we arrived, Daniel greeted me in the office, and the guys got right to work. A lot of people mention Daniel by name in these reviews, and it's because the man truly couldn't be sweeter, which is almost unheard of in the mechanic industry. Genuinely a kind human being who really does everything possible to take care of his customers. My favorite thing about Gonzales is they'll give you what you need and what you ask for *without trying to upsell you*. I can't explain what a weight that takes off of the whole visiting a mechanic experience when so many garages try to nickel and dime every customer who walks through the door (especially if you're a women who knows little-to-nothing about cars who is coming in alone). I've always felt incredibly comfortable. Gonzales Garage is also incredibly honest and fair with their pricing. They are straight-forward about how long something will take. If you need car work done up the mountain, Gonzalez is THE spot. Truly a gem hidden in what looks like a crappy little parking lot. All the love in the world for Daniel and the entire team here. read more

Gonzales Garage just gained a couple of customers in my bf and I. I've been to other mechanics in the area and this by far has the best customer service I have ever received. Not only did they go above and beyond for my circumstance, the problem was fixed promptly and the price was beyond reasonable. Daniel is great and straightforward. Highly recommend! read more

Great service, nice owner. Open on Saturday which was very helpful!!! Took my car right away.

Picture this. You get a flat tire from a stupid pothole in big bear. Come to find out your new car doesn't come with a spare tire and all tire shops are closed due to presidents weekend except Gonzalez garage which was gonna close in 5 min but when we called they stayed open and waited for us because they knew we would have been screwed. Great people and great service!! read more

Brought the family to Big Bear for Thanksgiving. I was running Bio Diesel in my truck and the freezing temperatures would not allow the fuel to flow properly. I had the truck towed to his shop 30 minutes before closing. They had me back on the road 2 hours after opening the next business day. He put my truck in his shop to warm it back up, changed my fuel filters and put a cold weather additive in the tank. He did exactly what he said it needed and finished exactly when he said he would. The price was very fair. No extra charges or any BS. I recommend this shop with 5 stars. Scott M. read more

Came up to Big Bear for the weekend on a Friday, then when unloading our vehicle I smelled gasoline. I noticed a slow gasoline leak. This was just past 5pm and all the local automotive repair places were closed, no problem I'll look up a place on Saturday. Only problem is that most auto repair places were closed on Saturday. I found Gonzalez Garage on yelp and thankfully they were opened. They inspected my car quickly and found the cause of the leak. They were not able to fix the leak however explained that the gasoline was no longer leaking and that I could have it fixed once we returned. They charged a very fair price to inspect my vehicle and had it back to me quickly. Highly recommended. read more

I first contacted Gonzalez garage a few months ago last minute to change the oil on my Range Rover, he did a great job; dropped me off @ my house & picked me back up. This is a local family business & they have excellent customer service. When my transmission light came on I phoned & he said bring it in the following day. He ran tests & determined nothing serious was wrong, checked fluids & re-set the lights charging me only a very minimal fee. I highly recommend this business if you're looking for an honest big bear mechanic. read more

The team at this shop are life savers. I was up in the area for the weekend and woke up Saturday morning to find my Jeep had two flat tires due to bad valve stems. The employees working on Saturday around 2pm were trying to rip me off and charge me an excessive amount of money for a used tire. Then after I decided not to purchase because of the price, he proceeded to say "good luck" in a rude manner, like now you're for sure not getting my money. I will never be returning to this location when I'm in the area. I made it home on my spare and saved over $150. read more
