Ours was not an easy build due to the fact that we had to excavate quite a bit as the ADU was build in to a hillside and near a slope to the rear of my property. If I had to focus on one thing, it would without question be communication. I was assigned a job foreman who guided me through the entire process, listened to my needs, provided me feedback, and helped me along the way with all the little changes that arose during the build. We made a few changes along the way and we were given clear communication of the requested change, as well as a fixed price for the change. The use of sub contractors is a part of any build and each of the contractors selected were respectful of my property and my neighbors, did an above average job, and were a compliment to John Christopers team. I would advise anyone considering an accessory dwelling unit to choose this contractor for the project. We spent a lot of time selecting the right contractor and were even led astray by a few. I can honestly say from my perspective, there's no-one better suited to build a detached ADU than John Christopher Construction. Before choosing John Christopher, we viewed several of their builds in process as well as spoke to some of their employees and customers. We would be happy to host potential customers as the pictures I am attaching to the review don't even come close to doing the ADU credit.

I had a laundry list of things that I had in mind that included painting of the house, remodeling the bathroom, redo the cabinet to accommodate a built in coffee maker, and a slew of other items that I wanted done. All of these needed to be done within a two week short timeframe. This seemed like an impossible task during that phone call. I spoke with Karen and she was able to capture all that information in about a two minute conversation. We scheduled a consultation with Kevin and about two minutes later she was able to recap that information on a calendar invite. It was a very clear and concise list of things that I needed to get done. Later, I was incredibly impressed with Kevin during my consultation. He did not try to upsell me any product. He was very transparent, upfront, clear and realistic with what can be done and what cannot be done. I was very concerned that the project could not be done within the two weeks. After I explain to him why I needed the short time period for the project to be done. He was compassionate enough to move some of his projects to prioritize my project. His team was on time every day and worked on my project nonstop every single day. Unlike prior contractors that I had worked with who came and worked a couple hours each day, Kevin's team was here every single day of the week, working a full day each day, They cleaned up after themselves every day and they were respectful and professional. Kevin was very responsive and was in contact with me every day. He answered all my questions and followed up with me on all my concerns. It took a complete two weeks, but Kevin and his team completed our project as promised. We are extremely happy with Venguard Construction, their personnel, and our finished product. They also repaired damages that were caused by a flood in our property, so drywall and floors were replaced. They also replaced our front windows, installed a 240v outlet, installed recessed lighting, and painted our entire house. They did an excellent job and finished everything in less than a month. Even when delivery of our cast iron bathtub was delayed, the team worked diligently everyday. I'm happy with the results and the pricing was good. Nik and his team were fantastic from start to finish on our kids' bathroom. He provided an initial quote very quickly and was responsive to any questions or requests via email and text. We ordered the wrong shower drain part which we realized two days before shower drain installation. I wasn't going to get the new drain shipped in time from the brand I really wanted, so Nik drove to 3 Ferguson home stores to find the part we wanted. I would never have expected that, but he went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. He was also very detail oriented and when we brought up a couple minor things that needed to be fixed, he quickly responded and had his team adjust.
