This was my first trip to this A Nails Day Spa (the one by the Cotati Post Office). Parking was easy and I was greeted by Jennifer, who was busy working on a client. She wasn't particularly warm at first, but she was friendly enough given that she didn't know me at all. The salon itself was clean (a huge plus in my book!) and looked and felt new. My service (removing old gel polish, plus the remnants of two glued-on protective nail extensions) was done by Amy, who did a fantastic job. She took her time to carefully remove the glued-on product without damaging my real nails, and then completed a new gel manicure on my now pretty, freshly trimmed natural nails. I had requested a clear- coat gel polish, but she suggested one with a light pink tint, and it was perfect! I expect my natural nails will grow out to their former length (1/4" beyond my fingertips) within the next two to three weeks, and I'll definitely be calling Jennifer to book another appointment with Amy! As I paid and left, Jennifer thanked me for coming in and made sure to stock me up with coupons to keep for myself and/or share with family and friends. I thought was a nice touch and a smart way to promote the business without being too in-your-face. I'll be back! read more

Initially I thought this place was very nice. Lam was friendly and conversational. I was getting my nails done for an interview I had later that same day. After I left I noticed several bubbles and bumps on my nails. I decided to go back and have Lam fix the imperfections. He seemed annoyed that I even asked for them to be corrected. He started to "correct" the mistake by putting several top cots over the bumps and bubbles which was a strange way to fix the issue in my opinion. The station he had me sit at had a lamp that didn't work so he had me use my phone flashlight so he could see. I'm not sure why he didn't just have me move to a spot with a working lamp. After he was done I noticed a hair on my nail in between the layers of top coats. I told him I still saw a problem but that it was fine, and I left. As I was walking out the lady getting her nails done next to me started talking about me. I'm not sure why this all happened. At the end of the day, I paid for a service that wasn't done correctly. I went to go have it corrected and was treated poorly for doing so, even after apologizing profusely for coming back which I didn't need to do. My hope in writing this is that people stand up for what is right and speak up for themselves as I did. Walked in without an appointment to get my nails done on my birthday. They fit me in right away. The man doing my nails was so friendly - he recommended a different nail shape for me, and did two base coats for my standard gel manicure; he said it would last longer. I guess he was right because my nails have lasted four full weeks without any lifting, chipping, or breaking. I've never had a normal gel manicure (this wasn't the gelx/extension, just standard gel) last so long! You can see how nice my nails still look and how much they've grown out. I would definitely go back if I were in the area, and may even make a special trip from Concord to get my nails done here again. read more

I'm so very disappointed as my first visit went well. I typically only do pedicures, but talked with staff about how my nails are thin and break all the time. They recommended a gel manicure so I agreed. It was a tad pricey, but as they told me it would help my nails grow, I thought it worth it. I asked how often they needed to be done and was told every 3 weeks. They looked nice the first day. However by day 5, I noticed the gel polish began chipping in chunks. They look awful now. I stopped in at salon and showed them- the owner said "you do too much" . What does that even mean? I was sick at home most of the days. I asked if they could repair the chipped fingernails and was told they would have to start all over and that I should have had "dipping powder". Why didn't they tell me that before? And to pay $50 less than a week after paying $50? I feel like my nails will be in worse shape than before my service at the shop. Ugh. read more

Update: I got my nails done Friday November 29th. Sunday night I had both pinky nails and ring fingers throbbing in pain. All 4 have lifted away from my undernail skin. I tried to separate my nail from the new set I was given. My nail was the equivalent of wet soggy newspaper on all 4 nails. I have NEVER had this reaction before and to only 4 nails. I am beyond disgusted and at this point on late Monday I don't know if I even have a pinky nail on my right hand it's just soft and throbs like crazy. I am not a rookie Oh a busy errand day out I popped in for a quick eyebrow wax. The woman was very efficient as she didn't need to endlessly pluck hairs. She got them the first time. About a week later I went to a nail appointment. Jen is amazing and super sweet. She accommodated my design used thin tape in the design for clear precise lines. She asked if I had a design in mind for next time and I showed her and she said no problem. I made an appointment for a Monday my step daughter wanted to go get a manicure so last minute made a girls date and called up a friend. We called and got an appointment about 45 mins out. Each of us got what we wanted. My step daughter cannot wait till we get pedicures. She has her eye on the Hawaiian one. Daughter got alternating colors. Friend got catseye on her new set and I got pink with marbling on two fingers. My daughter and I needed some what not crazy nails because we were doing family photos the next day. Everyone loves them even after a week. I cannot wait until my next appointment as it will be a hint as to our trip we are taking to having my nails done at all. But this place will not see another dime. Yes I will be going in and complaining even though I am sure nothing will be done nor can it. I'm not putting on another new set on a finger that has nothing there. Photos added. No I didn't jam my fingers into something or traumatized them in any way. I'm sorry to report that my pedicure today was the worst and fastest pedicure I have ever had. I am 56 do I've had lots of pedicures in my life and this one was by far the worst one. The woman who did my pedicure barely touched or massaged my legs. She went through the motions quickly and the entire process - from signing in to picking out my color to walking out was under 25 minutes! And, there was no foot drier anywhere so I left with wet toenails. I wish my experience had been different because I feel like I just wasted $35. I should not have tipped at all but I still gave her $3. What a huge disappointment. I'm on vacation and was looking forward to a nice relaxing experience. I have been coming to this salon for years, off and on, for various services. Aside from one terrible manicure from a female technician who was extremely rude my entire service, I have always had amazing service here. Lam, Tony and Jennifer are amazing. You can really tell they care about the service they are providing. The other gals who do pedicures are lovely as well. I have never left unhappy except for that one time. If I can recommend anything it is to make an appointment for your service in advance. They are usually very busy but they do squeeze you in it they can.
