That is about where my plant lingo ends, but you'll be wandering around for awhile just taking in all of beauty. As you can see from the many photos I added, I just could not stop snapping pics. And inside! As a woman who loves plants but does not have much outdoor space, potted indoor plants is where I shine. I could not stop walking around the indoor greenhouse. I am trying to slow down my plant collection before some summer travels but it was really hard not to just immediately bring a cart full to the register. I ended up leaving with a little rosemary plant and basil plant that are both growing strong and doing well. Excited to start cooking with them asap! I came with my friend and her mom who both love to garden and they found many gems (both flowery and leafy). They said that they expected the cost to be a lot higher than it was so that is always a great sign. They also have plenty of different pots for you as well and it looked like you could find anything else you might need for your garden. I truly wish that Yelp allowed zero Stars. Here is my…read moreunfortunate experience with the owner, "Joe"... Thursday, June 4th, I called and made a delivery order for 2 yards of black mulch and two yards or top soil. This delivery was going to an elder couple that I was doing some landscaping work for (not my own home)). The delivery was scheduled for 9am on Sunday, June 7th. I went to their house at 8:45am to lay tarps and wait for the delivery to be able to pay the guys. At 9:21am, I made the first phone call to Joe- and the answer I got was, "I've waited 4-5 hours for a delivery before,, the delivery guy is out on the road, he will be there". At 9:53am, I called for a second time, just get an update, considering it's been a half hour for a 3 mile drive. Joe proceeds to tell me that my order ticket was for 10am, not 9am and that the driver was on the road headed my way. Oddly, he never asked for an address, or anything. Fast forward another 45 minutes. I chose to make the 3 mile drive to Crossroads Nursery. Talked to a young guy on a loader who said that when the next drive gets back, they will driver it right away. That was at 10:45ish. I walked into the main nursery to pay for the delivery since I no longer was able to wait for the delivery. I went to hand, Mr. Attitude aka Joe, the owner, a check and he just looked at me and said, "what do you want me to do with this?" "Well, I would like to pay for the delivery that hasn't arrived yet, as I cannot wait any longer". "Oh your the bad attitude lady on the phone". Listen, I was annoyed at the situation but Joe tells me he just got off the phone with the driver but when I ask for an ETA, he says that he may have stopped for gas, or food or even maybe broke down. Then he hung up on me. As for my check, he threw it back at me in front of oof her customers and said..."the nerve of some people", "you're mad bc your delivery is 30 mins late", "it's not my fault that you never made an order ticket". So after alllllll of this, bottomline is that when I spoke to the owner on Thursday, he never made the ticket and I was never getting a delivery. I will NEVER use this place again. I will be happy to turn people away from this place. I am embarrassed that this guy owns a business, especially I in the same town that I live. I have seen that this is not the first complaint about Joe-the owner, being rude, abrasive, combative and just downright absurdly nasty.

I requested, if possible, to split the 9 yards as I have a circular driveway and would be easier for my worker. As I attempted to leave my home for a scheduled doctor appointment, to my surprise, I found both entrances totally blocked with mulch! I immediately called the office and explained the situation. The owner, Jerry, clearly stated there was nothing he could do about it. I voiced my concern about not being able to exit my home in the event of an emergency. I suggested perhaps the driver whom was only 10 minutes away could come back and make a path. I was so taken with his "I don't care" attitude especially being an owner. What is more disappointing was his lack of respect. His nasty tone thinking he is superior to everyone else. I wonder if he is this disrespectful to his workers. I have been coming to this delightful family owned business for over 20…read moreyears. I have never had a problems with any of the many plants I have purchased during that time. Also it is very evident that every plant they sell has had hands on care because all have the look of a well cared for specimen. I love to visit when their signature plant an iconic, massive gardenia that touches the roof, is in full bloom. This happens every year in early summer. If you call them they can tell you when it will be in bloom. There are hundreds of blossoms, and anyone that knows gardenias will tell you just how fussy they are about where they are located. It is very apparent when a Gardenia is content, and this one is no exception. Personally, I see this fact as clear evidence of the wonderful care the owners give their charges. I try to visit when it is in bloom because I can feel joy in the greenhouse where it lives. A mother and daughter do all of the work and it is not unusual to see three generations together when I visit. The owners always have a calm and cheerful greeting with a warm smile. I just love this place. Every year I look forward to my visits to Schwartz Gardens. Garden centers like this one are a dying breed, and need to be appreciated and supported. I encourage everyone to visit Schwartz's and I believe you will come away feeling grateful. I always feel gratitude whenever I visit this enchanting garden center.
