Despite that, both technicians attempted to perform gel services without our consent. By the time I realized what my technician was doing, she had already thinned my nails with an e-file to prepare for gel. When I questioned it, she responded with an attitude instead of an apology. The quality of the manicure was unacceptable. She painted regular polish over leftover gel instead of removing it properly. The polish was old and applying thick. I pointed that out and she fixed one nail with an attitude. At that point I just wanted to be done and out of there. Two days later before returning to work I had to remove it myself (couldn't drive two hours back to take care of this in person as Lisa stated that's their rules), I discovered gel had been left on one hand, and my nails were left thin, damaged, and breaking. What upset me even more was that my mother, who has dementia, was also being given a gel pedicure she never requested or could reasonably consent to. I looked over just in time before he tried to put mom's feet into the LED heater when I stopped him stating we never asked for the Gel! Again attitude and language I do not speak. The poor service was only made worse by the complete lack of accountability afterward. I was repeatedly promised callbacks (talked and texted with Lisa, talked to Emily) that never happened, given excuses instead of solutions, and ultimately offered a partial refund while the actual issues were ignored. As a solo esthetician myself, I understand that difficult situations happen, but professionalism, honesty, and taking responsibility should never be optional. This was never about $25. It was about integrity. Trying to upsell services clients never requested, damaging someone's nails, and then refusing to take accountability is unacceptable.

I came back to the salon (exactly one week later) to calmly share my concern and show the issue, but the owner immediately became defensive and loud. She insisted it wasn't infected just because there wasn't any pus, and said I was "just looking for money." When I explained it was painful, swollen, and not normal, and that I might need to see a doctor, she laughed and said, "Why would you go to a doctor for that?" Then she told me I should've called the day after the pedicure or two days later, and that since a week had passed, maybe I did something to hurt it. She even accused me of "making a scene" in front of other clients when I was simply trying to explain my situation. I left feeling completely disrespected. I wasn't demanding anything -- just hoping they would take some responsibility or show care for what happened. Instead, I was met with blame, accusations, and public embarrassment.

The overall hygiene is disgusting. There was a literally smashed bug on the nail bar wall; the bar stools are filthy, and the towels they use are severely stained and dirty. To make matters worse, the nail brush used on me was hard and caked with old, dried product. The owner was also clearly sick; instead of staying home, she just wore a mask and repeatedly coughed directly in my face. The quality of the work is a joke and looks nothing like their Instagram photos. The owner used a polish bottle that was almost completely empty, made endless excuses for her subpar work, and then completely rushed the rest of my service because she forgot about another appointment she had booked. Because she was rushing so badly, she chipped my nail, forcing me to cut it. She didn't care at all when it happened. Unsurprisingly, the polish chipped within a single week, and an entire nail has already fallen off. It's obvious this place is strictly about the money, not quality. There is a massive, uncomfortable contrast in how she treats people; only her regulars get special treatment. I noticed an immediate difference between how badly I was treated and how she treated the regular client she squeezed in (the same person she forgot she even scheduled). People deserve so much better. The terrible quality is disappointing, but the lack of basic sanitation is completely unsafe. Health department, please ticket this establishment. Avoid this place at all costs!

Today, the new place I've been going to did a terrible job on both my pedicure and manicure. I was so frustrated that I just paid and left. I decided to drive back to Lilly Nails to have them fixed, and I'm so glad I did. Tammy and Jason really listened to what I wanted and did an amazing job. I left super happy with how everything turned out! A couple of hours later, I realized I had lost my purse. Long story short, Lilly and her entire team were incredibly helpful, kind, and empathetic about the situation. Thankfully, I ended up finding it, but I really appreciated how much they cared and tried to help. This experience reminded me why I went to Lilly Nails for so many years in the first place.
