We included bartender services and she came up with a variety of signature drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic that were also amazing. I hired Carol for my wedding at my house in Walnut Creek in October 2022 and I cannot recommend Carol and her staff enough! 6 months prior my wedding I had the difficult duty of finding a caterer who was available in short notice, flexible with catering at a residential home (no commercial kitchen), had a good dinner menu, and would fit into my budget. Carol's team exceeded my expectations. Carol was professional and easy to work with as we were planning my menu dinner options. She customized the menu to incorporate Asian flavors and to accommodate my guests who were gluten and dairy free. On the day of the wedding, her staff and bartenders executed excellently. They were extremely professional, efficient and kind. My guests complimented on the delicious passed hor dourves during cocktail hour. We heard great feedback from our guests about the bartenders hired through Carol. Her staff made sure we had a plate with all the dinner dishes at the beginning of dinner. The transition from the buffet dinner to dessert went smoothly. And the best surprise of all was the cleanup at the end of the night. Carol's team collected all guests' dishes, cleared the plates, and put all the dishes in the rental crates where they came from. Coming home the next morning, I was expecting to walk into a complete mess, but her team also left my kitchen cleaner than it was before they came. As tired newlyweds, the clean up was honestly priceless. To top it all off, Carol donates a percentage of her proceeds to local charities. After our wedding we were able to select a local charity from the list of charities Carol partners with. What a wonderful way to give back to the community! I was the wedding planner for my own wedding... so I had to search and choose vendors. You're taking a chance because you're not a professional wedding planner who has worked with a bunch of businesses. When I was looking for a caterer, I was looking for selection of food, service offering and value. All 3 were beyond my expectations with A Loveable Feast. Let me start by saying that I have been a marketing executive for 24 years. I have dealt with many business vendors in the past, negotiated contracts, launched massive product lines in very tight timelines. In other words, I know what quality, professionalism level of service is all about. Carol and team, were all about this as well. From the beginning of contact through completion of service, Carol (and team), were phenomenal. Let's start with Carol. She is super personable, highly communicative, professional, and passionate about what she does. You can tell she absolutely loves what she does. It's not a profession, it's a passion... isn't that her tagline? Well, that's the truth and it shows. Now fast forward to the night of the event. This was my wedding reception at a friend's backyard. Her team was there to prep, serve and kept the place tidy. Full service. Not only did they do their job, they were extremely attentive to all the guests and just absolutely delightful. My now hubby said, "they were seen but not heard" meaning... they were there doing their jobs but they were also discreet not intruding in your space. For example... sometimes you're at a good restaurant and the waiter always seem to come ask you if you need anything when you're in the middle of a very private moment. This was not the case. Carol's staff always seemed to know when to interact and get what you need without disrupting all the magic that was happening that evening. At the end of the evening, they cleaned up the entire place and exited quietly. I cannot, say how happy I am with how everything turned out. I would not hesitate to use them again (and I/we will). I found her through internet reviews, as I haven't had a need for a caterer before: I am a good cook myself and usually do all my own cooking, but I couldn't cater my own wedding! Carol and her team of servers and a bartender made our holiday party (45 people) exceptional. There are so many aspects to what they do, it would be hard to delineate them all ... but I'll try. I needed some help in determining what to serve our guests, how much, the variety, and whether items would be passed or stationary. We ended up with a mix and her servers were amazing. The food was seamlessly flowing throughout the evening, and the team was unobtrusive and engaging all at the same. Not sure how that happens, but it did. The food was incredible ... we had six heavy appetizer items, a charcuterie display - four tiers of different cheeses, meats, fruits and nuts ... insanely delicious, and to close out the evening, a couple dessert items and a knock your socks off dessert crepe bar. Carol made us feel like our guests and our party were the best she had ever attended ... it may well have been, but the props go to A Loveable Feast. I can't recommend them highly enough. One of the things that drew me initially to Carol is her approach to community and philanthropy. Ten percent of the top line goes to a charity that you choose ... I can't think of a single business with whom I deal that does that. In and of itself, that's a reason to choose A Loveable Feast. I chose this caterer based on her reviews here on Yelp. I was really hoping to join the other 5 star yelpers on raving about the food and services. I particularly leaned towards LF because they give back 10% to community organizations. I also found them to be on the higher end for pricing than the other quotes I've received. So my expectations were naturally high. I do MANY events and have hired MANY caterers. My daughter wanted something different, inventive, creative, unique. It was NOT! So one star is because I had a great experience with how quickly Carol responded and how she took charge of the menu and recommendations. The second star is because she showed up early and took charge. BUT that's where it stopped - I feel duped. Cheated. Ripped off! In all of my communications I mentioned making sure there would be enough food to go through the entire evening of my daughters wedding reception garden party. With heavy appetizers such as chicken and waffles, grilled cheese and tomato bisque, tri tip sliders, a cascading cheese board and stationary crudités with dip. We were going for that creative food truck vibe. For the "welcome" part of the event we decided to pass the ahi/on maui onion chips, caprese skewers, and artichoke pinwheels. So what I actually got was a 10mm cube of ahi with a 10mm smidge of avocado on a 1" potato chip brought out on a bamboo cutting board (approximately 12-16 pc at a time). The pinwheels were the size of a flat cold 2" cracker, no flavor. The caprese skewer was ordinary, nothing spectacular. One server, one board at a time for 70 guests! My guests were asking about the ahi and when they will be bringing more. A little over an hour into my reception, Carol came out and said "your guests are hungry we need to bring out the heavier items". Well, that's never happened to me before. I wasn't even sure how to respond. My thought was, bring out more food and send 3 servers out at a time. Now that the event is over, I see they ran out of food! I tried one of each of the items. I'm glad I didn't eat more. Not all my guests got food. And maybe it was the pieces I picked but none were spectacular. Flavorless and worst, the presentation was sub par and maybe even boring. Then the party moved to the back of the house and that's when the hearty "dinner" appes were supposed to be served on a 10'x5' buffet table that was beautifully decorated to receive platters of beautiful food so that guests can come up and serve themselves. This was supposed to included a dual tiered cascading cheese boards on two ends of the table. Cheese boards are usually the star of an event and should be plentiful and beautiful to look at. Nope. This display was also weak and sparse and certainly wasn't enough for 70 guests. When I approached the table, there was no cheese on the boards, barely any vegetables with the hummus and 8 small meatball looking chicken balls on a 1" waffle square with no syrup. Some spilled soup on my table from the little skinny cones that held the bisque and no grill cheese sandwiches to dip. I never even saw one. They were out! People stood around waiting for them to bring one board out at a time. By 8pm, I had not eaten as I was hosting the event, I went into the kitchen to check on things and they were packing up. I asked about the left overs and where they put them. Carol said there were none. I believe a huge misjudgment was made on the food, the quality and most obvious the quantity. It was not enough food! What did my money go to? It may have been enough for a party of 40-45 at best. Days and weeks later I hear from friends and family of how they didn't try this or that because there were none. That is when this terrible dis-service was affirmed. We had one shot to do this. One wedding, one reception... there are no redo's. So that is why I am writing this review. I would've like to know how many pieces of food she gauged for each guest. Because too many did not eat to tell me there was not enough. I also recommend you ask for a tasting before you hire them. Sorely disappointed beyond words. No photos of the food or display. My events always have photos of the food and display as guests should be "wowed" to take a photo. Nothing about the food was photo worthy. For 27 years I've been throwing parties using caterers and this is the first time there was not a thing left over. First time. I'm so sad about this and even more embarrassed. This is not how I do an event. I waited a week before reaching out to Carol. I needed that time to cool off. Her response was that she's surprised I was disappointed. She didn't respond right away because she was in Italy. Yes, I feel duped. read more
