Avoid this locksmith at all costs. I paid over $800 for a lock, and within a few months the door stopped closing properly. When I called to report the problem, the owner didn't try to fix it, didn't listen, and instead started insulting me. The behavior was shocking, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. I have never dealt with someone so rude and hostile in any business setting. This is not how a legitimate company treats paying customers. If you question his work or disagree with him in any way, expect to be verbally attacked. Save yourself the money, stress, and disrespect--go somewhere else. read more

I see that most folks have a great experience with this company. Unfortunately, I did not. At a home where I was dog sitting, I was locked out of the home due to a stupid mistake on my part. The owners have a keypad lock on the door and don't use the doorknob. Without thinking, I engaged the lock on the doorknob and couldn't get back into the house. I partnered with the owner who called A Locksmith & Key Company. A gentleman named Osworth arrived at the home and made an attempt to open the door using a plastic sheet to depress the doorknob. When that didn't work, he said he would have to cut the doorknob off. He said the doorknob was defective because there was a piece of adhesive tape over the keyhole. I told him I doubted the knob was defective, that the tape was merely a reminder not to use the key. When I asked if he would try picking the lock he seemed surprised and said, "Oh. You want me to try that?". What on earth?! Of course I wanted him to try that! He quickly tried picking the lock without success. At this point, I really questioned whether it truly didn't work or he was looking to rake in extra for a new doorknob. He said it would be $100 to cut the doorknob off plus labor. WHAT?! Already, he stated that his basic service would be $225. However, when he got the homeowner on the phone, she indicated that she'd been told the charge was $150. By this point, he had cut the doorknob off and the homeowner was not happy. Understandably so. I did not have a good feel about Osworth from the very beginning. He seemed to me to be someone who saw a mark. He may not be a true reflection of the company's values or standards, but unfortunately, he WAS the face of the company that evening and he was someone who smooth talked while taking advantage of a customer. I hope not to need a locksmith in the future, however, if I do, I will not contact this establishment. read more

My name is Johnny, I live in woodside queens for over 32 years. I have to give massive credit with love to those who go the extra mile for their neighbors. Rias came to my home to fix an issue a past former locksmith did a clear inferior work. He helped us get into our home and did a replacement job at a huge savings. The generosity and support from him was more than professional. Thank you Rias . Thanks for clearing up what could have been a big headache . Called them when I was locked out of my apartment in Sunnyside. They came within 30 minutes to open the door on a Sunday evening. The locksmith wore a mask and was courteous. read more

A+ Service! I was messaging two locksmiths in the neighborhood and A Locksmith & Key Company was just so much more responsive and had a better price. I decided to make an appointment with them and they showed up right on time on a Saturday morning. Alex was great. He was nice, got the job done and made sure I was comfortable with the work. I checked the keys, tried the door and made sure it worked ok. They also ensured me that if I ever want to change the locks back, they can do that service too. I plan to do that when I move out of my apartment, so I kept the keys. They also take credit or debit card payments. Thanks again!!! read more

I had recently moved into a new place in Forest Hills and needed to have my locks changed. I initially reached out to Abba's Locksmith through Yelp, and received a prompt message from the owner Riaz discussing what was needed. I sent him a picture of my door locks and he was able to give me a couple of lock options and quotes for each option immediately. We confirmed date/time, which was on a Sunday evening and I was pleasantly surprised when Riaz arrived on time. I'm always so use to the "Your tech will arrive between the hours of 1pm-5pm", and was thinking this would be another one of those situations where I'd have to wait long for them to arrive (stupid Time Warner). I was wrong. Riaz was courteous, knowledgeable and very quick. In addition to changing my locks, he helped with securing my loose knob and pointed out to me that one of the springs inside my door was broken which is something my management co. would need to change. All in all, the appointment took about 30mins. Prices were fair, and I gave additional tip to Riaz for being an all around swell guy. I would recommend Abba's (and Riaz) to anyone in the Queens area. read more

What a great place! Friendly, fairly priced, and fast service! I live in the neighborhood, and I've never stopped in before. I'm so glad I did! Omar, was friendly from the moment I walked in. I lost my keys, so I needed a new lock installed for my mailbox. Omar gave me fair pricing which I appreciated. I checked other places and it was much higher! It disturbs me when I get higher price quotes on things because I'm a female. He was not like that at all. He came over right away and had it all done within a few minutes! I will definitely trust him to install my other locks I need replaced and if I'm in a bind again! Would recommend! This place is definitely the key!! read more

I needed a new remote programmed for my car.  I called and they told me to come by anytime today.  Omar was finished in under 30 minutes.  Extremely friendly and efficient, and very affordable rate.  He also told me he had extra remotes if I needed another one in the future.  This was not the closest locksmith to me but it came recommended and I'm definitely glad I took the advice. read more

We moved recently and needed to change all the locks. Very lucky to have found A Locksmith. Changed all my locks and learned a bunch of stuff too. Thank you for your patience and great work! read more

I just happened to find out that this place was closing 3 minutes before I arrived, but I called just in case to see if they were still open. Just so happened that the lady, Denise was so nice enough to wait for me to help me make 3 key copies. Denise was very nice and helpful, even cracked a couple jokes throughout. I thank her bunches for the courtesy in waiting on me, and also her personality is great too! Thanks again Denise! read more

This locksmith is a real pro. I tried finding someone off of google and was redirected through a chain of lead gen companies that farm out the job to random "locksmiths" on the road. My first failed attempt with one of the lead gen locksmiths was a disaster. Not only did they charge me for coming by to tell me they couldn't do the work (install electronic latch lock on a mortise door), they tried pawning me off to another colleague if theirs, who told me it was "impossible." I was defeated and decided to try one more call. I was lucky enough to reach Abba's locksmith. Their team knew exactly what I needed, game me a next day appointment, and did the job professionally. When there was a loose screw a few days later, they came back and tightened up the job at no additional cost. Real pros guarantee their work, like Abba's. read more

Quick easy and polite and reasonable...perfect experience the lady was professional and my key works better than the original

He showed up on time as promised and gave me a quote for the main entrance and another door. It was way less than the other locksmiths I contacted but fair. A couple months later, I had a problem with another lock, but he was able to help me what to do over the phone without charging me anything. Definitely recommended. read more

Riaz is a responsive and excellent communicator. Service is courteous and prices are reasonable. Good suggestions regarding the items that we needed - best color and design and so forth.. And the fire escape window gate looks good and works well. read more

I called a locksmith on a Sunday night when I locked myself out going to the laundry room. They said 15-20 minutes to arrive it took closer to 40. He said depending on the lock it will start at $65. Somehow my lock was so special it cost $225 to get in and of course had to be replaced which he charged me an additional $185. The person who had installed the lock two days prior did it for $85 all in. Now I realize it was off time and an emergency but I do feel the price was very inflated. I will never call them again even given their close location. read more

What a great place! Friendly, fairly priced, and fast service I needed a new remote programmed for my car. and it was done super fast. It is so rare to experience old school neighborhood customer service. It was like we knew each other. Robert and Omar are like that at our first meeting. Omar recognized my voice from over the phone and remembered what I wanted the next day when showed up. They are open on Sundays and cut MEDECO keys. You can't get MEDECO keys at home Depot. They guarantee their work. Support this neighboorhood Locksmith. read more

Whenever I write a review on Yelp it is either they suck or they are world class professionals! Obviously with the 5 stars you can see these guys are fantastic! I lost my keys for my storage unit and needed a locksmith. Googled and did some Yelp reviews and came across Abbas locksmith. Very professional, quick and the best thing was they didn't rip me off. In fact my storage unit later told me that this locksmith is who they recommend because they are fair and professional. There are lots of shady people and businesses in NYC. But I would highly recommend these guys! Call them first!!! read more

I called for a locksmith. I think most of the locksmiths are affiliated with different Hardware companies? But really not sure. Anyhow , I called, had a guy out to my place within 45mins, and fixed my lock. Very pleasant guy and efficient . read more

Professional and friendly. Denise got me the keys I needed in no time and even organized them for me.

I had a great service by Omar. I highly recommend his service. Knowledgeable and honest.

Highly recommend Omar and his company for any of your locksmith needs. Ordered a commerical push bar mechasim for my main lobby door and Omar was able to install it with ease. The looks looks great and works even better. They even sent a tech to help with an issue that developed after the install, no questions asked. Great company, great staff. read more

Wonderful experience and great customer service! I needed to get the lock changed on my apartment door and called based on the high reviews. Omar had someone to my home within a few hours. The locksmith was thorough in explaining my options for a new lock and deadbolt and the whole installation took less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend! read more

Update: owners of this place contacted me right away to make this situation better. He said he would return my money but I told him I don't want it back as they did the work. He said he would come out today to see if he can finish the job. I was going to update it after his work today but I just really appreciate that the owner was very involved and honest with me. Anyone who is looking to get good courteous and professional service should follow Riaz and see how he deals with his customers to keep them for the long run. Abbas locksmith responded the fastest with a quote and schedule so I decided to use them for my installation. The owner messaged me a price after I had told him my door was metal and I wanted to install electronic lock and new door knob. I had told him that tbere will need to be new holes drilled, if not i could have done it myself. I asked him if the total was without tax, which he told me it was so I had went and grabbed exactly that plus 20 for tip. He told me that he would come around 730 or 8 same day but ended up sending one of his technicians instead because he was tired and wanted to do a good job on my door. Understandable but since I won't be home the next day I asked him for his technician. The technician showed up 30 minutes later than promised. He came and dropped his tools everywhere on my hardwood floor and left scratches. He kept saying how tough this job is etc etc. He threw around my new locks that I had purchased enough to worry me. Then he told me that the door knob was completely wrong set and said he couldn't do it. He wasn't trying to mean but I could tell he did not want to do the job. In the end, it took him 90 minutes to install half of the job that was promised between the owner and me. But whatever.... I can deal with it Cuz I bought the wrong door knob set. The real problem arises here: before the tech left, he wrote me a receipt. The owner and I had agreed on 150 for two different installations and the technician decided to add a 90 dollar service charge. I told him that was not the promise and he said, fine I'll cut it in half. Then when I said I don't have cash to cover all of it if he wants tip, which then he agreed to "waive" the service charge. Not only this but my door was quite damaged during the process of installing. The lock also doesn't run smoothly but I can deal with that. I'm beginning to think that I should have actually asked around before just simply trusting Abbas locksmith. Something about this tech was off and made me quite anxious throughout the process. Oh and to add... he did not clean up the mess he made. I did. read more

What a great experience with Omar from Abbas Locksmith. I recently moved and needed to replace my door to a heavier more secure door and have high security locks installed because i always feel your door/locks need to be protect you from any possibility of crazy people in the world entering. Omar was so knowledgeable and walked me through a few options for both the doors and locks. He was very friendly and offered the perfect choice for my needs for both my front door, back door. We scheduled an installation date and the service was done efficiently and in a timely manner. I now have the peace of mind i need and would recommend Abbas Locksmith to any and everyone. I generally do not write reviews but I feel that if I didn't share this experience with my fellow yelpers I would be doing a great injustice. Abba's locksmith is a one-of-a-kind company in queens. Omar, one of the owners of the store, came at a moments notice and unlocked my door AND replaced the doorknob at a more than fair price. He was so kind-spirited and efficient. He turned what I thought would be a horrible day into a great morning. If you are locked out of anywhere, this is the place to call. Trust me, you will not get better service anywhere else! read more

I went from being locked inside my own apartment to having a brand new lock and set of keys in about 30 minutes! (And for a very fair price.) Omar answered the phone and was knowledgable and professional. He sent Riaz over, who arrived in 15 minutes with a brand new lock. I had a choice between having my old lock repaired or getting a new one. In a few minutes Riaz had the new lock installed, and I got to keep the old one in case I want to repair it and switch it back out when I move. Both Omar and Riaz were totally understanding of my situation and handled it quickly and professionally. As a bonus, Riaz explained what had broken on my old lock and gave me instructions to maintain the new one in the best possible condition. I saved this company's number in my phone and will be using them for any and all lock/key needs! Don't hesitate to call them! read more

I truly hope Peter is enjoying his retirement. Unfortunately, when Peter left, he took the professionalism with him. The new owners make appointments that they don't show up for. When you call, they have no idea of who you are or what the appointment was even for. Would never, ever waste my time with this shop again. read more

Of course on this super cold day, I locked myself out of my car. Luckily I had my phone in my pocket and was able to find myself a locksmith who arrived within 25 minutes which wasn't bad, considering it was during rush hour and he told me it would be within that time frame. He advised me I should wait inside a local shop and he would call me so I would not have to wait in the cold. (Great idea on his part since I thought I would have to wait by the car.) Upon his arrival he was friendly and was able to open my car immediately. Thanks Abba's! Hopefully I won't get locked out again but if I ever do, you will definitely be the one I call! read more

Updated: When I was moving to a new place, I shopped around for quotes to install a deadbolt above the existing lock. This company gave me a fast and reasonable response. There was a miscommunication with the tech who came about pricing for the lock, but the company was fast and responsive about fixing it even though I contacted them a week later about the issue (moving makes time slip by quickly!) read more
