I finally decided to stop by today (I actually went inside because I needed to use the bathroom). I'll admit, when I first walked in, my expectations dropped a bit based on the overall vibe. It just didn't give "you're about to have a really good espresso" if you know what I mean. Then I took my first sip and was immediately reminded not to judge a book by its cover. The espresso was smooth, bold, and really well-balanced. The pistachio flavor was noticeable without being overpowering, and the pastry was delicious too. The sauerkraut and mustard went well with them. The side of potatoes were ok. I didn't detect much bacon and onion influence on their taste. Maybe I was just overwhelmed with the flavor of the wursts. Service once we were seated was excellent. We did not resist the candy case temptation and took home a selection for later. They were quite good, especially the ones with dark chocolate.

The food is some of the best we've ever had and our breakfasts here were a highlight of our stay. The pastries are fresh and delicious but definitely don't skip out on the sit down meals here. I ordered what is called the Benedict Maddie which is their take on eggs Benedict. This is my go-to breakfast and their version was nearly inedible. From substituting the English muffin with a brioche bun that can't stand up to the moisture of the eggs and became a stodgy mess of sickly sweet pudding to the curdled and flavorless hollandaise that left me feeling sick afterward. Adding insult to injury was upcharging for ham that is a core ingredient of eggs Benedict. This was absurd given that already astounding prices they charge. Sides were potatoes which were okay, but it was also served with salad that I was suspect of given the current health issues with lettuce. My wife was equally disappointed with what was supposed to be a French omelette but turned out to be an overcooked, open face western omelette that was more like rubber than eggs. Her $9 blueberry smoothie was delicious though Service was slow with only two other tables occupied when we arrived, although our eventual server turned out to be quite pleasant. Coffee was never refilled and the bill for two people was just...well...arrogant. I guess this place really is French. The two stars are for the smoothie and our waiter. Seriously, there is someone here to blame. What is their name? I want to know. Sure, it's not a civil or criminal offense. But it's a crime against food. It's a crime against the people of Saratoga Springs. And it's just plane offensive. I regret if anyone was driven to try Mrs. London's based on my previous glowing reviews. I am so sorry. I had no idea. But I was just there this morning. I gazed into the pastry case at the croissants, and my heart sank. I felt sick. The croissants looked like something you would see in an airport. I think the croissants at Costco might be better. These were flat, flabby, and pale things. Far from the perfect, golden, flaky, structured, glistening beauties of the past. And this isn't about fond recollections. I have receipts. Photos from the past and pictures of the present. It's night and day. If the new owners aren't going to preserve Mrs. London's food, they should have the decency to put someone else's name on the joint. I too asked about the breads, and was told "their baker retired". Fortunately, Michael London taught other people to bake amazing artisan bread, and his legacy lives on elsewhere. Unfortunately, nobody at the shop bearing his name bothered to pick up the torch. What a shame. It is so sad. I am literally heart broken. This was one of my favorite bakeries in the country. I went out of my way to make a special stop in my limited time passing through the region. But I suppose nothing lasts forever, and this is a valuable reminder of that unfortunate fact. My days visiting Mrs. London's are over. I can no longer recommend it in good conscience. Perhaps the hot chocolate is still good, and the decor is still lovely. However, if you look closely at the glowing reviews, they all point back to a time that has now sadly passed.

I opted for a healthy bowl of tomato basil soup, with a drizzle of pesto (served with a small, delicious roll) AND a less healthy piece of their old-school New York deli-style, single layer coffee cake with a moist golden cake with a (very) thick layer of crumb (sugar & cinnamon). It transports you back to old school deli cakes. The sign says all baked goods are made from scratch, in-house. My friend said the scones are terrific. 100% of the profits from this bakery go directly to the Business For Good Charity.

The toast was good the jam was good the hash browns were good. I don't enjoy them for breakfast. I did have the best fish sandwich I've ever had in my life there a long time ago it was a special. Was that fish sandwich and had a yummy sauce. It's a fun experience to go there by do not like the breakfast. I couldn't get anybody to eat this bacon except the dog and she can't eat bacon.
