Stopped in once more for the chicken salad on a croissant and a Happy Monk. Best spot for lunch for miles around!

Our friends that visit us regularly from out of town are somewhat obsessed with historical sites,…read moreghost tours..... and food. Especially chocolate. What could be better than to take a tour at this fabulous chocolate shop about an hour north of Saratoga Springs? We paid for the ghost tour and chocolate making experience ahead of time and it turned out that we were the only ones there, so it was a private event for us. Score!! The ghost stories and "tour" were fun and interesting. FYI- there's not really any walking around during the tour; there's seating in a small section of the house to hear about the different sightings and such. Making the chocolate ghost molds were a lot of fun and buying large quantities of Barkeaters absolutely delicious chocolates were perhaps the best part of the whole experience. If you're interested in trying something different, one of the flavors of chocolate "barks" is a chili lime dark chocolate. I think that one is my absolute favorite with a close second being the espresso dark chocolate. The chili lime starts with the deep chocolate flavor and lime....followed by a perfect buzz of chili. It's dangerously addictive. There are lots of different flavors of truffles (we snagged a box of 24 assorted!) and chocolate bars that are all absolutely wonderful. Super nice staff/owners.... I can see this would be a great place to visit in the fall and closer to Halloween.

We will be driving to Barkeater Chocolates asap to get more of these amazingly delicious chocolates. My fav so far is the raspberry chocolates truffle, but I'm sure I'll have more favorites before I'm out of the store. You have to try these if you're anywhere near North Creek!

Located in Manchester VT a very homey little candy shop…read more You walk into this place in Manchester and just kinda think...why does this store fit perfectly for where I am at at this moment? It's truly a pleasant little store. The lady seemed a little weirded out when my brother and I first walked in. We were in Manchester for the night, on our way back to NY from a week in Maine. She looked at us like....hmm I dunno, don't wanna say anything mean bc she wasn't mean lol, she just looked at us ... weirdly lol. Not sure how else to put it. As our visit went on she ended up being very nice. I just hope she didn't think we were in there to like...steal a couple pieces of candy hahaha. I mean, we aren't 10 years old anymore lol. She then went on to tell us about the store and how all the candy is made there (pretty sure that's what she said). I just remember thinking....how wonderful that this stuff isn't imported from places like...ugh China! They have everything! Every possible kind of candy you can imagine...she has it. She gave us a free sample and it was amazing! There are few great candy shoppes in Manchester. This one is definitely one of them. Prices are a little...high. Just a heads up if you go here. Couple things to consider as to why tho... 1) it's Manchester VT. It's a very bougie little town. Only makes sense most things are pricey there 2) privately owned 3) candy is made on site 4) it's Manchester Vermont lol Should this stop you from going? Absolutely not. Even if you're just in to look...it's worth it. Really a cute store. I hope to return to it one day. Living in Idaho, I rarely make it to Vermont lol. BUT IF I DO! I will for sure head back into Mother Myricks! Thanks for reading, YelperMyrickers! Cheers!

From Mother Myrick's in Manchester, VT, we bought a few chocolate-covered orange peels,…read morechocolate-dipped apricots, along with a box of toffee covered with milk chocolate and ground almonds. I also bought a peach-raspberry muffin and a blueberry muffin. The muffins looked great but were without ANY flavor. Downright awful, not sure what that was about, but the chocolates were very good. I don't think they were quite as good as Lake Champlain chocolates, but they were a close second. I always appreciate the freshness factor (in addition to flavor), so it mattered that the orange peel and apricots were very fresh. If we are ever in the area, I'd come back here for sure, but I'd stick with the chocolates only. No more baked goods !

Entering the shop you are welcomed with a waif of irresistible smells of high quality chocolate that is being freshly made in the kitchen area that you can observe being molded and boxed. It's really an experience you should treat yourself, and your family to. They can also ship worldwide as well! There is plenty of free parking and it's handicapped accessible. Their chocolates are made right here on site…read more Every morning, the solid chocolate is melted 100 pounds at a time in an antique copper kettle, tempered, and prepped to become a dizzying assortment of chocolates. Think  handmade creams, truffles, mints, cordials, butter-crunch, caramels, nut clusters, turtles, chocolate covered orange peel, ginger, apricots and pretzels. Want more? How about fudge, white chocolate, barks, clusters, pops, and sugar free chocolates. We paid $38.22 for a bagful of goodies - 2 boxes of hand picked chocolates (sugar free and high test), a piece of bark, a chocolate bar, and two turkey shaped chocolate pops for the grand kiddos. A small gift bag of nonpareils was  tossed in gratis. The store is quite large, so walking around and checking out the goods is quite a fun experience. The only disappointment we had was that their chocolate apple season just ended the week before.
