Mentally and emotionally I have to brace for this horrific trip every time I need to come home to Pennsylvania from NYC. There are no trains near my hometown and no other buses--ONLY this one. It takes about 3 and a half hours to drive straight to my hometown but nearly 7 every time I take this bus, when it should be five. Here's what you can guarantee you'll experience on this bus: -Driver suddenly pulls over somewhere completely random during the trip, says nothing and has us wait about a half hour at LEAST before another driver comes. No explanation. -at the bus transfer in Lehighton, we wait another 30 minutes for the transfer bus to arrive. -At least one person forgets what their stop was and makes the driver turn around, we sit at a stop waiting for one person to arrive to the bus, and we park at Hazelton for at least 15 minutes for no reason even though the schedule says it leaves immediately. This doesn't include the handful of bus breakdowns I've experienced, uncomfortable seats, lack of outlets and often, lack of air conditioning or heat. Oh, and it's $140 round trip. To take a bus. Back to Pennsylvania. I have endured this trip for years because I've had to. The MINUTE I am making enough money to justify getting a rental car, I will take that option every time and never look back. An entire day is shot just trying to get not even four hours away. By the end of every trip, I'm practically crawling off the bus isn't he worst mood I've ever been in. Nothing can save you on this trip except maybe a double dose of CBD.

This was back in 2023 and then the announcement came that they were going out of business at the end of the year and they would honor any gift cards by sending a check. I had my daughter go into the business show them the gift card and gave my name, address and phone number so they had all the information there but they never sent a $75 check even though she was there before the end of December 2023. When I called them about this saying that I never received the check, they looked in their file and saw that my name was associated with a gift card so they had the information but I said to them I never received the $75 check because I checked with my bank where I would have made the deposit. They offered no way of compensating that even though they have the information knowing that they did not issue me a $75 refund. Not sure if the owner of the company knows how this process was not fully compensating people that had given them the information that they also had in their files. If they could see that the gift card was not honored you think they would have said we will still send you a $75 check since you did not receive that from them.

I have only ever gone on bus trips as a passenger with other groups. I didn't have a clue what to do so I just searched online and started calling places. I figured in my head, hey I get the cheapest price and the guys will be happy. The first couple companies I called were nice enough, and gave me prices, but certainly did not go out of their way to make me feel that comfortable or make this any easier on an old guy like me. Honestly, Werner Coach was the last place I called. I'm so glad I made that one last call to Werner! The woman who answered the phone transferred me to the sales manager, Lynsey. What a blessing! I apologized that I didn't really know what I was doing, but I needed a rate for a bunch of us guys to go to DC. She was so nice and knew exactly what questions to ask about what we wanted to do. Things the other companies didn't ask about rest stops, itinerary, she suggested places we could stop to eat and was just a joy. She was so accommodating even until the day before the trip when she called to confirm all the details. When our bus arrived earlier than expected I breathed a sigh of relief. The bus was clean, the AC worked, and it was comfortable. The driver pulled up, got out and introduced himself and shook my hand. His name was Jason. He went over the itinerary with me to make sure there were no last minute changes. Everyone loaded and we were on our way. Jason's driving was excellent. He was very cautious and safe. Even in Washington, DC. There was so much traffic and some of the streets are narrow and he handled it like a pro. Throughout the day he was on time and ready even when we were running late a few times. He pointed out sights to us as we drove by which was appreciated. We got home a little late due to traffic, but it was an awesome trip thanks to Werner. From the first call, to the time Jason dropped us off, they were first class. I am definitely recommending them to everyone I know!

Since I moved to NYC, I've been taking the Martz bus to visit my family in Scranton pretty regularly. Let's say 6 round trips per year. I have never had any type of issue. I don't think the bus has ever been even ONE MINUTE late leaving Scranton or leaving PABT. While you do get a nice mix of working professionals from the stops in the Poconos, your stereotypes about *who* is taking the bus if not traveling for work are going to be pretty accurate. Is it painful to pay $133.99 to have to sit next to someone who spends the whole trip eating and talking on their phone? Yes. Have I witnessed people drink personal alcohol on the bus? Yes. Did I once witness a man--while on the moving bus--call Martz customer service (rather than speaking to the driver) to ask for the bus to be stopped due to cosmetic damage on the bus's exterior? Yes. Still, these people are greatly outnumbered by respectful commuters. It's not perfect, the price is way higher than you'd expect, but it gets the job done. The peace of mind and quality time with my family has been priceless.

You can call customer service but nobody will answer (even when you are second in line) or call you back. The online reservation system is confusing. It seems all geared to make you call the customer service number that nobody will answer
