A Garden Guy just completed a large installation project in my backyard that included transplanting existing plants, installing dozens of new shrubs and perennials and installing a rock retaining wall. They were one of three companies recommended by Lurvey. One was out of business and the other was about 50% higher. The project took 4 days and went fairly smoothly. My only concerns were that the transplants didn't get replanted as quickly as I would have liked and there wasn't as much attention to watering each of the newly planted shrubs except for a few minutes of surface watering at day's end. As it's nearing the end of the growing season when plants normally begin to fade, I won't know for sure how successful the project is until next year but if everything survives the winter I'll be very pleased. I'll try to add an update at that time. I hope to be in contact with A Garden Guy next season for updates to my front yard but will have to get an earlier start as they book up fast. read more

We had one crew replace the pavers in our backyard. This two man crew did a great job...working their butts off. They did an excellent job of excavating what was there. This was a quality job. Then another crew regraded a garden in the front of our home, picked up, delivered and spread 4 tons of landscape stones for mulch. Then also picked up and planted 8 bushes. Again, an excellent job well done We will use them again. read more

Used these guys for (1) garden upgrade, (2) patio paver refresh and (3) flagstone resetting. 1 - removed existing plants and a couple old bushes; planted new bushes; mulched 2 - power washed and sealed my paver patio 3 - power washed and completely relaid a flagstone landing that was never done properly to being with The flagstone and paver work was great! 5 stars. Such a relief to have it clean and sealed and not looking horrible this spring. The garden work - 4 stars. Have to see how the new bushes did over the winter but looking good. Wish the mulch had been deeper; will have to redo it this spring. The plant material they removed wasn't all pulled out by the roots; I've gone over it once and will again this spring. Maybe next time I'll DIY with herbicide and remove after it's had time to die off. Would definitely work with them again! read more

We really love our new stonework from Matt The Garden Guy! The driveway retaining wall and steps look great, and are incredibly sturdy - they will outlast us all. Matt paid a lot of attention to details like installing a drainage system and geo-grid reinforcement to make them so. The front walkway is a work of art - we keep getting compliments from passers-by. One reason we hired Matt is because we could see he had an eye for artistic touches, and also for fitting into the surrounding landscaping. The grass in our backyard was AWFUL. All bumpy and muddy. Plus our rock gardens were disheveled and ugly. Jose and Lalo created beautiful paver boarders for the beds, removed the old grass, levelled and sodded. AND THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES!! What an incredible difference it has made. I'm no longer afraid that I'll twist my ankle back there. The professionalism this company has displayed will earn them many recommendations from me and my husband. World class customer service. He suggested two retaining tanks for our backyard flooding problem. The installer said they were putting in two thirty gallon holding tanks that would leach out the water when they filled up, and everything looked good. The first heavy rain we got, the backyard was flooded as if we hadn't had anything done at all. The drains that allow water to flow into the tanks were six inches under water! The installer said "It really works!", well, it doesn't. We paid thousands of dollars just to see out backyard covered with water, still. read more

Matt finished a project last year for us which overall went well but unfortunately a few plants didn't make it and we had a warranty with him to replace anything in the first 12 months. I have tried to contact him multiple times to replace the plants all summer and he has not responded. I also have questions now that the tree that we asked for is actually a bush and feel very uneasy now. I am not sure he is organized enough to handle the business that he currently has to fulfill new requests and handle his contract warranty work.
