Because the Holiday Cocktail Party that my company was planning was for over 1000 people we decided that it would be best to hire an Event Planner to execute our vision and plan. When we were referred to Young, I took a look at her Yelp reviews and was so excited to see and read about all of the personal touches and unique designs that she brought to her events. However, when we did a walk-through of our space and sat down to talk with Young, her team, and her vendor, Fine Linen Creations (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fine-linen-creations-san-jose-2), I began to become a bit concerned. Young and her vendor kept pushing fresh cut bouquets and an exorbitant amount of draping. We were very very very clear on a multitude of occasions that we did NOT WANT all fresh cut flowers at $75/piece. We found them to be a waste of money as well as just a waste in general because they are disposable. We discussed that since we would have over 60 tables, that we should do flowers on some tables and on the other tables do some Poinsettias, festive branches, ornaments, etc. These items would add uniqueness as well as extreme cost savings, to which one of her assistants rolled her eyes at me. We expressed extreme concern that we did not want to spend our budget on a ton of draping and chair covers and we were looking for a very fun festive Holiday feel and that we did not want it to be stuffy, formal, or wedding-like. We offered up a lot of specific ideas on decor, layout, etc. We clarified that we wanted to have decor in the foyer as well as on the patio, which had views that were absolutely gorgeous. We signed off on the floor-plans and details prior to our event. But then, on the night of our party, we show up and walk in to a Foyer without the decor we discussed and look out on to a patio with no decorations (both wasted opportunities). As I walked through the floor to ceiling draping I entered a room with 60+ tables all adorned with huge floral bouquets and RED ROSE PETALS sprinkled around them, Pretty...FOR A WEDDING OR A PROM! The layout was not as we had agreed upon nor did they execute the ideas that we were very specific about. The venue removed our food 1 1/2 hours after our event started which left everyone 3 more hours of a party where they were drinking with no food available. If this was the venue's decision, it should have been addressed immediately by Young and her Team. We were the clients, paying her a ton of money, and our needs and wishes were, for the most part, ignored.

As such, we decided to allocated a larger chunk of our budget to the venue with the goal of managing our décor budget as we wanted the focus to be on the larger atmosphere/setting rather than table settings/flowers. We were also looking for a unique, statement piece rather than lots of small arrangements that end up getting lost in the grand scheme of things (in my opinion). In brainstorming what this statement option could be, I had come across what I called a "balloon cloud"...an organic balloon sculpture of varying balloon sizes that looked like spheres (ie did not look like a normal balloon shape). I ran this idea by my planner, the fabulous Denise from Denise Lilliie Engagement, who thought it was a great high impact, high value idea and matched us up with Mary from the Balloon Crew. Mary was so fun to work with - we only had two brief chats (and unfortunately never even met in person!) to come up with the idea and color scheme together. I was a little nervous about the balloon cloud coming off as too trite and kiddy if it was not executed perfectly. However, Mary's team pulled this off like a DREAM and created an elevated work of art. Not only did it fill the space with a stunning, massive, statement piece. It added the color pop we needed to bring our red/black/gold theme together AND it tied the whole room together. It forced people to look UP and OUT into the vineyard instead of focusing inwards and letting the magical location fade into the background. I am so glad our planner thought of Mary and her team. Our goal of creating a unique wedding setting was completed by the addition of this sculpture. We observed people taking insta stories, looking up in awe, and even saw photos of our friends trying to play in the "balloon pit" when it was uninstalled. Throughout the planning, Sam stayed connected to us via telephone and text messaging. Once we provided Sam with the color scheme, she went to work and provided us with many options. Sam would text photos of different setups, giving us examples of what our wedding could look like. Sam was very flexible and assessable. She would address our changes without delay. Sam met us at the venue two weeks prior to the wedding and conducted a walk-through. Sam later drew up a diagram of the venue which included the table placement. On the day of the wedding, Sam arrived hours early to began the setup. Her team got to work and once completed, the venue was absolutely beautiful. We chose a floral ring with a white drape as our backdrop which was very nicely done. Sam completed our seating chart which was displayed at the entrance of the venue. Sam also, put together our sweetheart table, welcome table and a welcome sign. This was one of the biggest days of our lives and Sam really came through for us. Our guest were thoroughly impressed at the setup as so were we. Sam returned to the venue just as the reception ended. Once again, Sam's team went to work and in no time completed the tear down. Dear Ms. Rowley: Your company contracted to cater my…read morehusband's 60th Surprise Birthday for September 18th, 2016. I fulfilled my monetary obligation according to the contract and you did not. According to the contract (which I enclosed) my event started at 11:00am and food was to be served starting at 12:30pm, dropped off at 12. Food was not served until 1:45pm (1 hour and 15 mins late) and it was only served at that time because my sister and I had to help set up and put the food out. Not part of the contract. We had to help because the servers arrived late at 1:00pm with nothing ready and did not have the proper equipment. The food they brought still needed to be prepared, warmed up, plated and put into chaffing dishes. (Per our discussion and follow up email, this was to be handled differently.) I ordered appetizers and they were to be passed at 12:30pm. The servers did not have the appetizers ready to go nor did they have plates to put them on. When the servers finally did arrive, they were preparing the appetizers. I had to stop them and tell them it is way past lunch time and they should be getting the buffet going since people were hungry. They started to work on preparing the lunch buffet with my sister (who was my guest!) while I quickly put out my 3pm snacks that I had prepared, so the guest would have something to eat. Next I got my utensils and prepared the buffet. While in the kitchen; the servers were warming up food and putting it into the chaffing dishes. My sister assisted with the getting the salad out and I helped to get the food out once it was warmed up. You were to provide a tablecloth but did not and there were not enough utensils. The food was horrible, no one enjoyed it and they left the food on their plate. There was so much food left over! The food the servers brought was nothing like you described in the contract, the company's catering menu and website. The servers where actually embarrassed by the food and the terrible situation you put them into. You know this is true because they were texting the contact left and right about all the issues they were having. Per the contract: I was to have BBQ chicken, not boiled chicken thighs with barbeque sauce thrown on top after the chicken was warmed up in the microwave. The chicken arrived in Ziploc bags and the servers had to warm it up, did not arrive in chaffing dishes as you stated in your email. Enclosures: Pictures with descriptions Email chain of timeline and process Contract Agreement Grilled Lemon Salmon, was oven baked salmon in foil,- It arrived in individual pieces cooked in foil, the servers had to unwrap pieces of salmon, warm them up. They had no spices, herbs, or garnishes. It did not arrive in chaffing dishes you stated in your email. Chili beans looked like they were from a can, not like what explained and what your show on your website. Green Salad was from a bag and in a plastic bowl, not like what you have on your website. Salad dressing- only 1 bottle for 100ppl, which was already opened and half way empty. A leftover opened salad dressing, not refrigerated is a violation of a health code. One server had to leave to go to the store when they were already and hour late to get more salad dressing and paper plates because there were not enough paper plates to start serving lunch, this delayed the lunch further. Watermelon- Not sliced, it was cube and soggy, tasted terrible, no one ate it. Passed appetizers, not served at 12:30 as contracted, they were plated by 3:00pm on my plates and put on the buffet. Deviled eggs, arrived not stuff, the egg whites were so flimsy your server threw half of them away, she told me she could not serve them, they were not acceptable. Bruschetta did not have a spread, they needed to be warmed up because the bread was stale and there were no garnishes. - refer to pictures I included of how it should have looked per your website. Quiche, there was not enough for 100ppl and it had to be warmed up. According to your contract and your emails it is evident that you did not provided the service and product that was agreed upon. I included pictures from your website which you told me to look at to get an idea of the food I would receive for my husband's 60th surprise birthday. The appetizers should have been plated and ready to be passed at 12:30pm and lunch was to be served at 1:00pm. That is what was discussed more than once verbally and communicated through email. The food should have been prepared properly so it would be tasty, look appealing and reflect the contract.

Only problem was, the playground was closed for renovations. Nicole and her team didn't let us know that the playground was closed although they arrived on-site 2 hours earlier. When I arrived, I had to scramble with the team to move the setup to the park next-door. Everything was OK at the end and even some of our guests offered help. One of the main reason we book with Nicole is that when things go wrong, I'd like her to step up and resolve them. But instead, she CHARGED US $300 for moving to the next playground. Wow, we were expecting apology, not a $300 bill. Even if you are a repeating and happy client of Nicole (like us), I advise you to start looking for more professional services with other organizers. We appreciate the many events she helped us until she dropped the ball completely and insulted us by charging us extra afterwards. -- Nicole responded by saying that they couldn't have foresaw that the playground was closed. This is false as her team showed me that they sent Nicole messages and videos of playground being closed before they setup anything. They could have communicated this with us earlier and moved to This is beyond surprising on how Nicole handles unexpected cases. Instead of trying to prove she is right, it would have been easier to say "shit happens" and make it right... Very surprising and weak response.

She provided multiple vendor options, communicated closely with them and us throughout the bidding and hiring process, and ensured we were all on the same page from planning through the walkthrough and up to the day of the event. One of the greatest things about this process was the clear, concise communication and organization that made planning, payments, and decision-making understandable, step by step, rather than a labyrinth of crossed wires and deadlines.  The day of our wedding was as effortless as could be. It was great to have the team from Two Perfect Events, along with Yoko and Leo, there to assist with setting up and taking down decorations and rentals, help guide guests, event staff, and our vendors, and ensure everything, including our deliveries and rentals, went according to plan. We also appreciated that our planners kept an eye on both of us the entire night to ensure we were doing well and enjoying the festivities, getting our food, making sure we were at the right place at the right time, and saving any items for our personal requests. We did not expect that Two Perfect Events would take behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the entire day and the in-person walkthroughs, which gave us a chance to reminisce on the process and quickly provide a glimpse of our families and friends outside the eyes of our wonderful wedding photographers.  We appreciated that our vendors were all in sync, and the coordinators ensured our entire process minimized the stress of planning, which was what we had hoped for all along. They provided us with good advice on choosing vendors, insurance for our wedding, and what to expect when working with multiple parties. It was evident that Two Perfect Events had considered multiple contingencies and scenarios in which snafus or unexpected issues may arise throughout the process, and we were glad that Yoko was always prepared for them, including giving us enough buffer time due to traffic delays so our guests could arrive on the big day.  Everyone complimented us on the evening, and it went by so smoothly. They commented that this was the least stressful and most fun wedding they've been to in a long time, which conveyed the vibe we were going for. We wanted it to be a fun yet intimate evening where everyone enjoyed getting together to celebrate, and we were delighted to celebrate that day with them. There was clear communication before the event, and on the day of, Leah was able to show us where to go and was available for any questions that came up, so we were able to set up seamlessly. The night was a success, and the guests loved our claw machine. They also took it a step further to help capture some of the memorable moments from the night to share with us. We didn't ask for it, but it was such an awesome gesture, and we really appreciated that! Good planners are everywhere, but GREAT planners, like Two Perfect Events, make sure that all needs are met (whether it's for the couple or all the vendors) and thensome!
