We had an awesome experience with friendly and affordable. We got a bunch of quotes from several movers and they really were the most affordable. Then, I have family members who had terrible experiences with movers in the past, so I was very apprehensive. I voiced my apprehensions and they took extra steps to make sure I was happy and everything was taken care of. Best of all-NOTHING was damaged in the move. Very happy with our choice to go with A Friendly and Affordable Movers read more

I can't speak highly enough of my recent experience with the Team at A Friendly & Affordable Movers. From start to finish, my move was treated with care and efficiency. The two Pros that moved us were ahead of the scheduled pick up appointment and they swooped in and took care of us by meeting and exceeding our expectations. Moving can be stressful and difficult, but my Husband and I can testify that we were in the BEST of hands with this company. Thank you and may God continue to bless all of you with an awesome 2026! read more

I requested a dryer be moved up one floor to laundry room and the washer put on the curb. Hector Marquis and Thomas were quick, efficient and completely professional. Hannah in the office is efficient and great communication. I have used this company in the past and will continue to use them for any moving needs that come up. The value was very affordable for the things i needed done Thank you guys, I appreciate you read more

If you want a company that takes advantage of you this is the company to call. Danny the owner is condescending arrogant and in no way helpful. All he cares about is taking your money. Once it's in his hand it's gone. Movers didn't do their job after contracting with my SON for a local move. The movers that were sent out were very slack due to working by the hour. They took many smoke breaks. My teenaged grandson caught them pilfering through my SONS packed crates while in the truck. They damaged my sons property by putting dents in the hallway doors while MY SON lay in the hospital after emergency surgery! They did not move everything they were supposed too. UTTERLY LAZY. We called the owner Danny to inform him of the situation and he blew us off. My son paid in advance prior to going into the hospital. See the pictures on my Google page for proof! read more

I just recently had yall move my stuff from Virginia to Texas and did a fantastic job. Quick and efficient, very very flexible with the timing of everything in regards to closing on my new home. Yall were a fantastic option since the military couldn't move me when I needed. Absolutely recommend, specially for those active duty folks PCS'ing or doing your final move after retirement/end of contract. Thank you guys for everything! read more

On behalf of my son, who is currently recovering in the hospital. My wife did an honest and fair review of Danny (the owner) and his company. She included pictures. He apparently contacted Google and had it removed. You see, it was an honest assessment of his company and their work. I had to have my 14 year old son stay at my house because I had to have emergency surgery the night before the move. Unfortunately, they took complete advantage of my son by claiming the truck was full when it wasn't. They left 1/2 of my items behind. They took numerous breaks (I was on an hourly agreement). They charged an extra $400 by claiming it was "Time Worked." (Their breaks are very expensive). As for the truck being full, we'll I had a family member meet the truck at my new home, and they were surprised as to how little they brought. Danny, the owner, told me that he wasn't going to do anything for me, even though I was in the hospital. He stated that he didn't see the move and therefore it was my fault for not going with the more expensive option of having him price the move rather than going hourly. I used them the day before to move my new wife's home to our new house. It was a much larger load. It went quickly and all in one load on the same truck. The only difference was that an adult was there rather than a 14 year old boy. Danny's company may be friendly and affordable as long as they are supervised, but you get a rude wallet flush if they get the opportunity. Use them if you like, but I strongly suggest you supervise them closely read more

I hired these movers thru Moving Staffers who contracted them. I needed them to unload 10 linear feet of a freight truck that had moved my possessions across country. Lance, Marcus and AJ were the movers who showed up and boy, were they wonderful! Super efficient, polite, friendly, careful with my stuff and they completed my unload within 2 hours - in the rain, across a parking lot, and up a flight of stairs. Remarkably hard workers. I was VERY impressed by them. The only reason I am giving the company 3 stars is because the office staff I spoke to twice was certainly not "friendly" by any stretch of the imagination. The woman was unhelpful and downright surly with me. I complained to Moving Staffers and said I had reservations about using them given that the office staff was so unhelpful. Moving Staffers apparently contacted the company and a more friendly person called me back to confirm details and answer some questions. The other reason they only get 3 stars is because as I have read the reviews, any negative reviews that have responses from the company appear to be very defensive and not professional customer service or conciliatory, often making accusations about the customer writing the bad review. I get it. Some people are jerks, but as a business owner, I would always do my best to accept responsibility for miscommunication and do my best to remedy a customer's dissatisfaction without publicly airing dirty laundry. That's so unprofessional. In fact, if I had read the reviews and more importantly, the business's responses, I would have requested Moving Staffers contract another company for me, but then I would have missed out on the top quality service provided by Lance, AJ and Marcus, so in the end, I am satisfied with the actual move, AND, I enjoyed working with Lance, Marcus and AJ. read more

Great job! They were on time and extremely organized! Everything went smooth from the packing and moving us to storing everything while we waited for our new home to be ready! Moving us into the new house was great as well. Very helpful with placing everything and anything we needed help with. Thanks for everything! read more

The professionalism of the office staff and scheduling was great. The movers and the management of the movers - not so great. The movers showed up on time. I gave them time to get going. However, within the first 45 minutes it was evident they were going to move purposefully slow and take smoke breaks. At 150 per hour, I was not ok with this. I told both of them they need to do their jobs, as I'm paying 150 per hour. One smirked at me. Oh, the joys of dealing with men as a female. I stopped what I was working on in the kitchen and started helping them do their jobs to save time. I contacted management and he showed up to apparently assess the scene. He said he would make the start time 45 minutes later as " it was only fair." The rest of the move was completed. I was going to let it go and not leave a negative review, because in my mind it was remedied with the discount. Yeah, no. Shady behavior continues. At the end, management told the movers to charge me 86 dollars more than what was due, as I had already calculated it. He attributed his incorrect calculation to the fact that the 10 percent coupon had not processed. However, the amount added to my total was more than what would have been taken off when using the coupon. Within a few seconds, he agreed my calculations were correct. In my opinion, I was treated this way because I am a youngish female existing without a man around. I figure they figured I am passive and wouldn't check behind them. Well, they were wrong. I see another review from a woman existing alone that highlights shady behavior from this company. Looks like her husband was out of town. Business tip - Women also pay you, and not all women are scared to say something. read more

I am very disappointed with this company, I got an estimated for 10,385 for moving , they also plan to move us in 3 days because the big truck could not go in my driveway. All is good the first day they sent 6 people. Next day 7 and last day 3 . Imagine they never finish. They way things was handled the last day was very poor since they did not have any more employees. Once they left couple of days later my realtor call to check when we will finish with the move. Until them I have no idea, so we ended up doing 3 trips plus all the cleaning . The best part they charge me 12,000, I now have to move again and I will not use them again read more

A Friendly & Affordable Mover - This was the estimated. But at the end they told me I have to pay 12,000 Keep in mind that we pack - Movers Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

Moving services, we used initially A friendly and affordable Movers to moved to NJ, and we were happy with the service but the second time around the service was terrible, they only sent two guys and one of them was incredibly rude and treated our furniture w carelessly, they arrived in the afternoon and we had to disassemble part of the furniture ourselves in order to advance faster. The managed to damage one of our dining chairs and other mirrors frames and scratches in the bedroom set. They were to pickup the second part of our stuff in a storage unit close by and because they claimed they were out of time The didn't load the truck properly and even when in the first time everything fit in the truck this second time a few things were left out and we had to come back later and expend more money and time to complete the move. At the arrival we were not kept informed of the arrival time. They didn't assemble all the furniture as they should and they didn't take the boxes to the bedrooms they belong to. In all, DO NOT USE THIS MOVERS . It,s better to rent an UHaul truck and pay for personnel to load and unload the good. They are the worse you can find. read more

We moved from California to Chesapeake and friendly and affordable movers helped us move into our new home. The crew were very friendly and worked very hard to make sure that everything was placed where it needed to be. They put our beds together and put things in corner so that we would be able to walk around the house as needed. They were very friendly and even though there was one small accident I called and they rectified it right away and sent me a check for the damage. A very professional and good company to work with. Highly recommend them. read more

I highly recommend A Friendly and Affordable Mover. We recently moved from Chesapeake VA to Coastal Florida. All of the movers who packed and transported us were very respectful and very careful with our belongings. They kept us informed of what was going to happen and when it would happen. This Company is very reliable, friendly and certainly very affordable. I dreaded moving from all the horror stories I have heard and read about. But not with these folks. Wonderful people to work with. If you have to move, give A Friendly and Affordable Movers a call! You will not regret it. read more

I cannot express how much I regret using this company. I wish I had a do over. They weren't the cheapest, so I expected better. I am singing the praises of the "Friendly and Affordable" moving/storage company. We used them for moving out, followed by a year of storage, and then a move in at our new place. The movers were fantastic; efficient, careful and truly courteous on BOTH moves. The storage was also amazing. Our furniture came back to us, fresh, and in perfect condition. I could not be more pleased with this company. read more

BEST MOVERS we ever had!!! A big thanks to Barbara who was so great and helping us get organized for my dad's move to an Assisted Living Facility. She was totally understanding about having to work around the ALF's moving in schedule and made accommodations cheerfully! Our actual movers came a few min early (they called to make sure it was okay first) and they were AWESOME!! A big THANK YOU to Marcus, Tommie and Eric T!!! Professional, hard working, super patient working around my dad (who is very ill) and friendly as well. They brought everything door to door and set my dads room up in the ALF the way he wanted it. I can't thank them enough for the hard work and compassion they showed my dad!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

My issue with Friendly and Affordable is not with the movers themselves, but with the higher ups in the company. During my move in June the movers accidentally broke two boxes of my dishware. My movers were very apologetic and told me I had to take pictures and contact the office. When I called I spoke to a customer service representative and she told me I had to contact their claims office. She told me to email them detailing the damage, the cost of replacement, and photos. I did everything asked of me. A claim was opened. Then I didn't receive any direct response. The resolution was the company sent me $18.00 for the damages. They calculated the price by weight of boxes damaged (boxes which they never weighed). The amount of dishware that was damaged was more than $300 and all they decided to give me was $18.00 and no apology. I do not know how this company thought $18.00 compensation was acceptable. Some of my items are irreplaceable because I bought them travelling abroad. I did not expect that they would pay me the full value of my damaged goods, but I did not expect to basically receive a slap to the face. read more

This was my second experience with this company. The FIRST time I had two little boys and they RAN back to the truck each time to get another load. It was fast, they were polite, and neatly dressed. Nothing was damaged. The SECOND time, I got 2 big guys, one of whom was pretty sloppy. They were slow and did not put everything in the correct room. They were not very good at maneuvering large items up the stairs. I had to help. Sloppy guy took his shirt off, and spent 20 minutes in my bathroom. Overall it was ok and the price was right but was well short of my expectations per my previous experience. read more

Contracted to move from Chesapeake, VA to Moyock, NC. Our contract included packing our grandfather clock, electronics, paintings. When the SIX movers and TWO trucks arrived they didn't bring enough packing materials. We had to give them cardboard to pack the clock. The weights dropped and destroyed the bottom. Of course the company is blaming it on us. I have an open complaint with BBB. Why in the name of God didn't they bring enough packing supplies? Why did they need SIX movers who all got tips? read more

Awful experience. Once they are paid they will not answer your calls . They damaged a few things . After several attempts to get a hold of them they said they would be there at 9am to fix damage they did and did not show up or call and would not answer calls. Recently used A Friendly and Affordable Mover, for a local move as well as out of state. For the local portion, a king mattress appeared to be damaged( perhaps broken springs?) to the extent that, though no obvious external evidence, the damage was internal, and the mattress can't be slept on due to absence of spring support. The company, based on a PHOTOGRAPH, has denied all liability, claiming it to be manufacturer defect. The mattress was in perfect condition prior to the move. Was purchased new, and had only been slept on less than 20 times as it was in seldom used guest room. After the move, I made multiple contact attempts via texting the owner, emailing the company and foreman, and calling the owner's cell and office. The one time I spoke to Dan, the owner, he said he was "In the tunnel" and would call me back. He never did. I requested a claims inspector to come out to see the mattress, which they have chosen not to do. I requested a claims paperwork form to complete, but have not received. They were happy to take my $$, and I was happy to pay, but minimally I expected customer service follow up to resolve any problem/ issues. Will never use again, and I suggest you don't either. Buyer beware! read more

This was a great moving experience! They were on time to do a walk through estimate, and for the move itself. First we had to change the date twice because our buyer fell through, then the house we were purchasing wasn't going to be empty at the time specified. The company worked with those issues without any fuss. The actual movers for our job: Al, Chris, Marcise, and Jay cared for our furniture and home like it was their own. They were polite and made sure we were satisfied at all times. I would definitely use them again! read more

I wish I could give them negative stars. They are unprofessional rude and do not uphold the contract. They used old boxes that fell apart. Charged me for hanging clothes that they threw in old boxes and damaged my furniture and didn't even say anything. Barbara at the front is rude and Dan the owner is even worst. Stay far away from these unprofessional and rude people. Take your money elsewhere. read more

This was a terrible experience. BLUF: over-the-phone consultation approx. $450-600; ended up paying $1,050 !!! When I scheduled the move, the clerk approximated a time range of 3-4 hours and a subsequent total cost of about $450-600 (3-4 hours at $150/hr) for 3 men and 1 truck. The clerk made this approximation verbally and did so by considering the apartment unit size, floor/level, and access to elevators at both origin and destination as well as a comprehensive list of all items to be moved. One of the three movers provided for the job was diligent and efficient. The other two were incredibly lazy and dragged the move out by several hours longer than expected; I was ultimately billed $1,050. I was clear with the 3-man crew that a timeline had been discussed and I intended to stay within that timeline; this was acknowledged by the crew and crew manager. At the end of the job, the manager of the 3-man crew admitted to me that he had to speak to members of his team regarding laziness and poor work. I was asked to pay $1,200 for the full time spent moving. I contested this and eventually spoke with the owner of the company on the phone. I informed the owner of the time/cost estimate relayed to me over the phone. I listed the the behaviors in his crew -- noticed by both myself and the crew manager -- that had contributed to a several hour delay in completion of the job. I indicated property damage to expensive furniture pieces. I requested an adjusted rate. The owner told me that no time or cost estimate had been given and that this was his best crew. In the end, he offered me a $150 discount. In the big picture of $1,050 spent when I expected to spend $450-600, this is ridiculous. I absolutely will not use this service again. Moreover, I will provide negative reviews of this company to anyone who is scheduling a move for as long as I am in the area. N.B. -- I realize many components go into the duration and cost of a move. In order to make this review as useful as possible to other members, I provide specific details about the items moved, distance, etc. below such that the reader can truly see what a scam this company is running: Distance: 3.1 miles Elevator access: reserved exclusively for my movers at both origin and destination apartments Items moved: 1 bed, 3 couches, 1 table, 4 chairs, 3 bar stools, 1 recliner, 1 chair, 1 nightstand, 2 tv stands, 2 TVs, 2 bookshelves, 2 dressers, 3 boxes, 1 bicycle. read more

The owner was extremely helpful and worked with me on my local move. I moved some items and had the movers pack some items and move the larger furniture. The owner worked with me on the cost and was able to do my move for much less than other companies quoted. The packers and movers were the same group which helped a lot. The were very nice and efficient. All my items were moved with no damage. In the end, it was money well spent. read more

The owner was very personable and when he left I felt I had made a good choice. I couldn't have been more wrong. Packing was a nightmare. I had been told there would be 2 men who would complete all packing in one day. There were different men coming and going for three days. At any given time there were as many as 5 men in the apartment. They were not careful with my things and I caught them throwing draperies and dust ruffles in a big box, no folding. They banged up many pieces of expensive and antique furniture. For example they gouged a foot long deep scratch across the top center of a sofa table. They did not finish until way after dark, which meant I had to drive by myself in dark from Virginia Beach to Richmond. Things were just as bad when they unloaded in Lynchburg VA. I had clearly marked every piece of furniture, every box to tell them where it all went. Some went into an off-site storage unit. i just got around to that a week ago and was in tears when I found that they had stacked all of my china and crystal on each other. One pack of fine crystal that was my Mother's was completely smashed. Furniture was stacked willy-nilly with no padding between pieces. It looked as if they threw pieces so they could get it on top of piles. I wrote to the owner, but received no response. Folks, if this was the last mover on Earth, I'd carry my furniture one piece at a time, one box at a time myself rather than use this mover. read more

This company is the BEST! I run a local Staging company who stages homes to be sold all over Hampton Roads so I have to move my inventory in and out of homes regularly. Communication with this team is 110%, office staff is accommodating, relational, and just plain sweet. Their movers are also wonderful; They take serious pride in their work and act as if they're moving their personal family items. They're VERY careful with EVERY piece, while still moving surprisingly quickly since, like with most other companies, you're paying by the hour. I've done well over a dozen+ transactions with this team and I have YEARS of underwhelming moving companies to compare them to. I've experienced it all. If you want movers who don't show up on time and are full of excuses...or movers that tell you one price and charge your credit card HUNDREDS more without approval...or a crew that just goes completely MIA, stops answering their phone and leaves you hanging mid-move...or how about a mover who shows up wreaking and high as a kite?....call someone else. Because with Friendly & Affordable you're going to get nothing but reliable, truly professional service. They are worth every single penny and are STILL within the same price range as those other guys. I will go nowhere else. Thank you for all you do for me and my company F&F!! read more

This was a disaster from start to finish. I had 2 crews of 3 guys show up. They got off to a slow start due to smoke breaks and there was so much friction between the 2 crews that the operations manager, Irwin, had to come out and mediate. It was clear that only 2 guys among the 6 had any real desire to load and properly protect my belongings. This was apparent later as many of my items were damaged. They did have someone come and repair a desk but the damage is still very evident and cost me a days wages as I had to take off work for the repair. They purposely drove over my yard with a fully loaded truck causing 10' long ruts about a foot deep in the yard. They said they would have it fixed but Irwin told me that he couldn't find anyone who would fix it so basically "sorry, we aren't fixing that". The worst part was that they stole several items. 2 Bluetooth speakers and a tablet. After I went through everything I owned to confirm, I reported this to Irvin and was told that this wasn't new for them. I followed their requests, filed a police report and waited. After 3 months I received an email from Irwin stating the owners weren't going to do anything because I didn't use them for packing services and there was no proof. The email had a very "tough luck" tone to it. In the end it cost me close to $3000 dollars to repair/replace my property on top of the cost of the move.
