This bakery is AMAZINGLY delicious!Everything is freshly baked (ours was all still warm). The owner herself greets you -- and it's like entering her own tiny immaculate house where she freshly bakes everything. The smell is intoxicating. It was so hard deciding on what to try as we wanted to take it all home. My husband thought it was the best turnover he ever had. I second that about the blueberry cake (which was sold by the 1/4 loaf, 1/2 or whole). It melted in my mouth. There were cakes, cookies, muffins and on and on. We have patronized this small bakery several times over the years on the way to visit the Clark Museum. The moment you enter the front door you become part of a world of magnificent aromas. I gave this place two stars because the owner is friendly. We drove all the way out here because the person we were visiting said they thought this was where someone they knew had gotten some delicious pastries once, although later admitted they must've been mistaken. There's no place to sit inside and only one person or family at a time is allowed inside anyway, so you have to get in and get out; no lingering. We got one of each of the two cupcakes that were available; one vanilla, one chocolate, a chocolate chip cookie because the owner suggested it and said they were hot as she had just taken them out of the oven, and an almond croissant. The cookie was okay. The cupcakes were extremely dry and tasted like they had been made days prior. The frosting on the cupcakes tasted like pure butter and had zero flavor. The croissant was very heavy and thick, not light, flaky and layered the way a croissant should be. Tunnel City Coffee, however, has amazing bakery items and an incredible atmosphere so we couldn't wait to return there. read more

I love this place. It is small and out of the way. You can drive by and say, what a strange A-frame building in the middle of nowhere. But, nothing will tell you just how great the bakery items are there. When you walk in the door, you will meet the baker, Sharon, right away. She can describe everything in great detail. Of course, the odors of fresh baking will melt your willpower. But, what will really sell you is the taste. Moist muffins, great cakes, and delicious fruit tarts. If you want a custom cake for a party, you do need to order in advance. They do not keep cakes waiting for days (as some other places do) just for icing. But, oh, is it worth it. Finally, the prices are reasonable. You are not paying South County prices here. Great value. Great taste. Great for you. read more

Stopped in at this cute little bakery this weekend and was very happy I did. I bought a cranberry scone and piece of apple cake that were both extremely delicious. The apple cake was super moist and full of fruit and flavor, while the scone was perfect: not too sweet, great crumb texture. I wish I had bought two! i also bought a piece of chocolate cake for someone else, so I didn't try it myself, but it looked fantastic. I was waited on by a very nice woman (I'm guessing the owner?) who was extremely welcoming and helpful in describing her pastry. Prices were reasonable as well. We ordered my daughters wedding cake at the A-frame Bakery. We couldn't have been more disappointed. We went to pick it up at 3:00 pm as instructed and it wasn't ready, nor were either of the cakes for the rehearsal party, happening later that evening. The grooms parents ended up getting one of the rehearsal dinner cakes there and the other from Market 32. They were ordered months in advance. The cake for the wedding had to be delivered since it wasn't ready, so we didn't see it until the next morning. It looked like the leaning tower of Pisa. She had to put flowers on the top to make it look a little better. The butter cream frosting looked like it was put on as it was drying, and wasn't smooth at all. I was EMBARRASSED at showing this cake at my daughters wedding. Despite all the nice reviews, I wouldn't ever go back. I only gave it 1 Star because without it, I can't post the review. I called to inquire about a birthday cake for the next day. On a recommendation from another Yelper, I requested the lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon butter cream icing. The shop was small and filled with delicious looking cupcakes and biscotti. My cake was ready on time and lovely. I also picked up a loaf of French bread ($3) The service was friendly and quick. The cake ($27) was absolutely delicious. It was very moist with a perfect lemon flavor. The lemon icing was light with the texture of whipped cream. The bread was fresh and chewy as French bread should be. I highly recommend the A Frame bakery for custom needs or just picking up cupcakes. Treat yourself! This place is fabulous! They do covid right - masks and one person at a time. The baked goods are amazing. The Lemon curd raspberry cheesecake was out of this world. The balance of sweet, sour, fruit and cheese cake was absolutely brilliant. The cake with blueberry and ginger has an amazing crunchy crust, wonderfully mildly sweet cake and soft delicious blueberry on top all with a hint of candied ginger in the background. I'm not sure why everyone is such a big fan. Maybe because it's the only bakery in town. But this place is awful and unprepared for visitors. We made an appointment for noon-12:30. We showed up, our cupcakes were not ready, and took an additional 15 minutes to whip up "frosting." Which, less face it, whipped butter is not frosting. No taste, nothing. The cupcakes were crunchy and seemed more like muffins. Decorating was also sub-par. Not worth $3 and we will definitely be finding a new place for wedding cake/cupcakes. read more

I agree with Nicole from N.H. this is a highly over rated place. Again maybe the location ? My husband told me that the big blocks n front of the place are there to prevent trucks crashing into the building as it is on the end of a mountain road. Anyway, we went and the "baking" reminded me of the use of heavy cornmeal in post of the products. The place has no room and is beyond over crowded, the size of a very small mudroom and the owner is not a very nice or friendly woman. In fact, I thought she was quite abusive to her son, a young man who was very sweet. Purchased several pastries, and biscotti and they were not any better than what you can get at any grocery store like Big Y or Stop and Shop etc. You would be better off going a bit out of your way to Bella Napoli Bakery in Troy, N.Y. or to the Dutch bakery or Two Sisters Bakery both in Bennington, Vt. If there were a lower rating than one star I would give it to this woman and her establishment. read more

This little bake shop is cute as a button. It's a miracle a full size kitchen can fit inside the building because the interior is about the size of a closet. When things are this small you can't expect to find a huge selection. That's fine by me, because I'm not fussy when it comes to sweets and baked goods. When I visited, sitting behind the counter were two types of cup cakes, several crumb cakes, a few pastries, and a few cookies. It sort of reminded me of going to someone's house and finding whatever they baked for that day. Everything I got was terrific and reasonably priced. Thumbs up. read more

We used to drive past this empty building on our way from Albany to Mass MoCA and I would shout "A-FRAME!" See, my father had a thing for A-Frames in the 70s for some reason but we never moved into one. When we saw a business had moved in we had to stop. I expected it to be mediocre at best but buttercream on the cupcake was some of the best I've ever had. In fact, I don't really remember the cake part. Which is odd, because normally I scrape most of the frosting OFF of a piece of cake. This is seriously good stuff, and filled with BUTTER. read more

We purchased a blueberry crumb cake and chocolate chip cookies on Saturday ....then had to return the next week because it was all gone by Thursday. Called ahead for hours and mentioned that I was going to get a half dozen cookies.... and the owner made them fresh because they had just run out.
